WITHOUT MACHINE, check MAF METER (MAF) FAULT.

This is a VERY SIMPLE check for a failure of the FLOW METER or MASS AIR METER (MAF), mass air flow, WITHOUT going to the diagnostic machine. NOTE: Always check for air leaks in the intake system.
