I didn’t see you grab the cane set 2 chairs and a table but I’m glad you did. Can taint to see what you do with the lamp. I have my mums and it’s a very dark stain which doesn’t suit our decor so I’m excited for that.

How well I remember the trash day runs when I was a kid! Not for renovations! It’s how we got clothes & some furniture! I still love the “thrill of the hunt!”

Reminds me of all the seemingly trashed treasures I’d help my mom load into the car. She and daddy redid furniture and trained me so well that I still cannot just drive past a pile!!
Always appreciate you finding diamonds in the rough. It's very important to see what can be reused and enjoyed especially when it's made to look even better than originally made. I've been a dumpster-diver for as long as I can remember -- and now I've found someone who loves free stuff as much as I do!! Katie actually knows how to upstyle her finds, so I'm heading out on "trash day" to pick up a few projects and follow along with her vids. Proceeds from whatever I rehab and sell will go to our local animal shelter and possibly the Road Cat Sanctuary my husband and I operate (we feed, vaccinate and spay/neuter any homeless kittehs that wander up to the house).
Katie, with your skills I'm sure you probably could have even refinished "la toilette" into an elegant piece of furniture, lol. Big fan and subscriber of the show - keep up the good work!
This brought back so many memories ! Back in the day I lived in an affluent area and big pick up day was so much fun. The things people tossed out amazed me. My daughter would cringe if there was a pile because she knew I was pulling over and picking. Now she does it with her kids. I’m having fun watching your videos, I love seeing how you take something old or beat up and turn it into a beautiful piece of furniture ❤
I love watching furniture flippers take a discarded piece of furniture and turn it into something gorgeous. You have a back for seeing the possibilities in something I could never envision. I am a woodworker and for year's if I see solid wood furniture on the side of the road, I will take it to repurpose. Believe it or not, during the pandemic I found some real treasures, like antiques out for bulk pickup. I restored those and sold them at an antiques fair we have in my town. We are very New England here and we love our antiques. The closest city to me is New Haven and they have bulk pick up once a month, so I was finding all kinds of things. I also repurpose metal for sculptures that I weld together from stands for machinery to spice racks. You have inspired me and I learned so much from your tips. You would think after 50 years of working with wood I would know a thing or two and I do, but I love learning new techniques and your channel has given me that. Keep doing what you do!

Grabbed todays mail just before having a snack and watching this video....there was a flyer from our county's recycle service, announcing they're switching their pickups to ONCE per month for the whole area, so 'make sure to save your stuff and put everything on the curb the weekend before!!' That tickled me SO much, as the once-cheap and fabulous little thrift store from which I scoured countless treasures in the past is neither cheap nor fabulous now---one of many small businesses changed forever post-pandemic. :( So the Mail Flyer, coupled with your video which I immediately watched afterwards, is SERENDIPITY! You can bet I'll be grabbing gloves, sanitizer, etc., and cruising the area in our SUV!! Also equally tickled to see those Retro Santa and Snowman blow-mold yard decor you scored. Now all you need is one of those blow-mold candles, and you'll have the whole set!! LOL FUN video!!.

Alas, we do not, not for curbside, but I did learn that we have compost options and dedicated days to bring those items for recycle and disposal. How accessible they are to the general public, I don't know, but it's cool to know that exists. I encourage everyone to check your town municipal website for information! I just hope y'all's isn't full of dead links like mine is 😜

You have a lot more restraint than I do! I see so many additional items I would have grabbed (as long as they didn't have massive damage!) I thought I saw a vintage or antique wicker settee, the lily pad birdbath would have been great w/a "stone look" finish, the table that went w/the rattan chairs you got, the radio flyer, an antique wooden birdhouse shaped like a big house, the spherical bird feeder would have made a great planter covered with English ivy or some other vine...I guess I rummage for way more than just furniture!

I would have picked up those carts with the baskets in a hot minute, cleaned them up, possibly paint them, add more baskets and voila - extra storage !! Could use them on the patio for picnics, in the garage, kids toy storage or possibly in a craft or sewing room. I let out a sad sigh when you passed on them. 😢 Anyway, you scored some great pieces at a great price ! LOL. 😊 Looking forward to your re-dos. Go Katie 🎉🎉
If the sewing machine doesn't work, those cabinets are great for hiding printers in home offices (opening the top to print, closing it when done). You'll be making over furniture for a good while after such a successful rescue mission!

I left a lot behind but I know there were tons of other people out doing the same thing. More stuff got picked up than the garbage truck got to take. If I brought home everything I saw, I’d be living in my own personal landfill in no time 😂❤️
I always take off the screws that hold the legs together if possible on end tables or coffee tables to make room in my truck whenever I am dumpster diving or shopping for furniture to make room for any other things I might find. Found three bar stools this weekend in a dump.
I was hoping you'd get that antique dresser and completely refurbish it, but I could see that would be quite a job, and I hate to see antiques painted. I think the mid-century dresser was a find and that beautiful coffee table with the inlaid wood top.

That dresser that you didn't get could have been a nice vanity. All you had to do was cut out a hole for the sink either having it up being a vessel sink or whatever I like to have a solid surface undermount sink myself making more streamline. Then just have the fronts of the drawers nailed and glued on a 1/2-in piece of ply and then jigsaw it in a way that you could open it up in some way to allow for access to plumbing as well as having some storage inside.

I LOVE how you are so real. Not like a lot of the make up encrusted women who think tht most of their videos should show their face. LOL. "the painted south" drives me nuts. This is a specific once a year occasion for everyone to clean out their spaces. Definitely not allowed on a regular basis 😉❤️
