My only gripe with the E locker is that it has to turn about half a turn to engage in disengage. If you’re not used to working with that, it can prove problematic in the field. I wonder what it would take to make an E locker be instantaneous to engage and disengage.
Sorry if this is a dumb question but how do you apply the voltage to it to bench test it like that? With the two locker wires is it a matter of connecting one wire to a positive battery end and the other wire to negative or do you have to connect negative to the axle assemly and positive to one of the wires?
When I apply power my rear isn’t engaging (I have popped the case and also bench tested like you are in this video). I imagine this means replacing the actuator entirely, which is fine. But no one seems to sell just the actuator for a JT/JL. Any input? My option seems to be just putting a full aftermarket in at this point. (Probably going ox)
@@JeepingMo confirmed. Part of the magnet coil was floating around. Also fun fact, you can’t just buy an actuator from Jeep or aftermarket so to “fix” a rubicon actuator, you have to replace the entire locker with aftermarket which also means replacement shafts since the rubicon shafts are different sizes. Thanks Jeep! 🤦♂️ A $300 actuator failure costs about 2k to acquire the parts to replace it. Who knows how much if you have someone else install it.
@@JeepingMo sure, but i think if you choose quality items and secure things properly, they are much more reliable than elockers unless something hits and ruptures pnumatic lines or you bump into something pretty hard afterall, humidity is not a problem in air actuated lockers. but in the end you are right, they are not very reliable
@@JeepingMo i wish there was a cable actuated locker that you could operate it with a lever in the cabin or with an electric motor that was placed anywhere but underneath the car where it was vulnerable to humidity or mud
Hey fab video... I have a Commander and my front left wheel is staying locked... With all 4 wheels off the ground, all spin but not the front left... could this be because those "fingers" are not disengaging?
Did you really put vented and drilled rotors on a truck? Also venting and drilling do the same thing so it doesn't make sense to have both. Or either in the case of a truck. It's like putting a spoiler on the back.

They both definitely have some disadvantages
Engaged just like an ac compressor clutch.
Thank you.

Thanks for the question, I’m just touching the wires to a 12v battery.

I would think the actuator is having issues, if there isn’t any wiring issues.

Lots of OEM cars come with both. One is good for letting out water an the other is for heat. Nothing wrong with having both drilled and slotted
Why do they cost 1200 bucks
$1500 is the quote i just received.
Quick question, I have a 2023 summit but it was a delete item. Can that be installed afterwards?
