Nice work , I took a complete 2HP apart and then reassembled it as a test drive from Belgium to Spain and back to Belgium . 7000 km without a problem. Sold the 2HP and bought a new one 33 years ago, I still have it and it still drives fine.
@@oldnutsgarage I still have a complete 2HP in reserve, with 15,000 km. I bought it 25 years ago for 400 euros , have already been able to use many parts . Have now completely disassembled the motor, and reassemble it as shown in your videos. And also renew all gaskets. thanks for the beautiful videos, they are really sublime. Nicely slow explained , many greetings Julien .
@@oldnutsgarage yeah, must be mad! Very helpful series.. I'll be sure to recommend your rebuild when I come to the engine. Mine seems to be good fettle. Makes a change something is good!
Thanks once again Mark spot on,Couple of points please. When would you deglaze the barrel(i think thats what its called)?and could you explain the use of course and fine grinding paste? Cheers Steve.
Hi Steve, Opinions vary but I would deglaze the barrel whenever new piston rings were fitted. The pistons and barrels I used were matched, low mileage, second hand from a known engine and the crosshatching was clearly still visible, so I was not worried about oil retention / running in. The amount of visible marking and pitting on the valve seat made me decide on which paste to use and for how long, so the second head got more work with the coarse paste than the first. I aimed to get as smooth and even a seating surface as possible. A local engineering company will recut them for me for a small amount per seat so it would not have been a problem if they had not cleaned up. Thanks for watching!

They are wonderful cars and mechanically very robust. Once you have had one it is very hard to live without a 2cv. Thanks for watching.
