    I wish there was a a pro version with AAA battery. My concern with internal battery is that when it reaches the end of its lifespan you will lose the microphone.

    I think the D3 would be better for small mirrorless cameras like the M50 just because of the size. I like the audio quality and I don't like the idea of having a giant mic on my tiny camera.

    I have become wary of products with built in lithium batteries, unless they can be changed out by the user. I have had a couple of pieces of gear that have lithium batteries that have died. Usually I can disassemble the product and change out necessary part, but in some cases that's just not possible. I hate products that aren't made to service. Now I always make sure that whatever I buy has removable batteries. Good review, enjoyed it.

    Good review. I do videos, but I’ve always been a nut for good audio. These deity mics were previewed several months ago at a trade show. No actual sound...just mockups. I was waiting for them strictly because of the configuration and features. NOW that I hear the sound quality I am totally blown away. This deity pro is as good as any $500 boom mic on the market, AND it works as a camera mic too! Don’t need it. Don’t have the budget for it. BUT DAMN...I’ve got to have it!!

    Great video @Tomas Villegas I really liked your comparison. Did you edit any of the audio in post or was that the raw sound from both Deity microphones? I just purchased the Rode VideoMicro and I think I am going to stay with that one for run and gun shooting with my iPhone. I also think I am going to pick up the Deity V-Mic Pro for other shooting to have a more professional microphone just because of the sound quality, as well as the controls. I'm shooting my professional videos on a Nikon D750 and didn't know if you had a chance to test the Deity Microphones on this camera? I see it is compatible I just want to know if I might run into any issues.

      Yes! you are correct. They are essentially the same microphone but the D3 just has fewer features. Personally, I think the D3 would be the best for vloggers for a few reasons:
      - Turns on/off automatically
      - Audio is exactly the same as the $200 version
      - Smaller form factor (shorter)
      - Run and go shooting

    I recently picked up the D3 and I've been mostly impressed. I didn't feel like I needed the extra features, so saving 100 bucks made the decision easy. I'm really digging the form factor, and it looks right at home on my A7iii. Did you have compatibility problems with the cable? TRRS vs TRS? Website says Fuji needs to swap the cable. Does this mean it doesn't turn on/off automatically?

    did you notice much difference in the noise floor of the d3 compared to the pro? I plan on using a deity for field recording and foley sound design. Just trying to determine if the extra $100 for the lowered noise will be worth it.

    • @TomasVillegas

      I'd say the Pro does a better job at keeping it suppressed and having an organic feel.

    • @TomasVillegas
      @TomasVillegas  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Like any other mic it doesn't notify you of battery levels. You'll have to keep an eye on it. I haven't had any problems if that's any consolation.

    Hi! Newbie here. Just got my new Deity D3 Pro. What is the best setting for Gain at the other end of the mic? Are there factors to consider when setting the gain up?

    • @TomasVillegas
      @TomasVillegas  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There's no golden setting. It's a balancing game you play. Just make sure you're never to high on the audio meter and in the same sense never too low either 🤝

    I just got a D3 Pro and have a serious problem with it ... the cable plugs into the jack and goes too far. The mic doesn't work unless fiddle with the jack and, since I don't have a level meter in my camera (Sony FDR-X3000), I can't tell if I'm getting audio until I review the footage. I have to pull the plug out just right to get it to work. Does your plug go in and work when it's flush against the mic?

    • @TomasVillegas

      Sounds like you may have an issue with your camera jack. I'd contact the manufacturer.

    I can't hear a difference? Anyone else. Might be better to do more precise A/B testing. place both mics at an equivalent angle and record the same speech. Then play it back, cutting between the two as an edit.
