Hey! I created a NEW channel dedicated to CAMERA gear content! I want to keep this channel focused more on tech, so please check out th-cam.com/channels/oq8rCYrb74b6N1z303H5KA.html ! - Thanks for visiting! :)
It would have been interesting to hear both mics further away in the room and outside in traffic to see how the noise rejection compares. Pro sounded fuller, but my biggest concern is noise rejection for difficult rooms and environments noisier than ideal. Thanks for the video.
Personally its there are a few question for one to ask themselves. 1. Rechargeable battery or not. 2. Do I really need the high pass filters (I like them but not a deal breaker) 3. Do I need to adjust the input continuously/often when recording? Now for me and my personal uses, I believe the non Pro version would work in 99% of my uses.
Good review. For my needs, I don't need the Pro so I'll save the dough. I like the AAA battery for the reasons you mentioned. My Rode never worked right with an Apple phone, so Rode wasn't on the table. Both Deity mic's sounded great. Thanks.
The funny thing is that your "controlled" part wasn't very useful because you varied a lot in volume and distance to the mic. The vlogging part though was EXCELLENT. That's real life use and really demonstrates what happens in a worse case.
Deity seems to have great mics, including these. Shame they are not widely available in the EU. I yet have to find a distributor here with reasonable prices. The Pro version of thic mic costs the same or even more than the Rode Videomic NTG, so I went with that, while this non-pro is close on price to the new Sennheiser MKE400. Do these mics come with deadcats or do you have to purchase that separately?
so I just bought the d3 pro. I'm trying to create a setup which "Ideally", can be portable. I can take it on the go, and when I get home, reattach it to my windows computer for daily use for work meetings. for TH-cam videos, I'm looking to connect in to a mini tripod and then connect it to my iPad pro 12.9 or Samsung note 20 ultra. can you please advise me on this. ps I'm from Toronto also. would be open to a in-person or virtual coffee chat :)
Hey, great video! Easily one of the best out there on comparing the two mics (BTW I agree with about not loving the internal rechargeable battery in the D3 pro). Liked/subbed. Looking forward to more videos from you....
From everything I've heard, the 2 mics use the same capsule, and to my ears, they do sound the same. I'm pretty sure I'm going to pick up the $99 version - I rarely use sound roll-off switches, even outside, the GH5 (my primary camera) has a very hot pre-amp (thus I doubt I'd use the volume knob on the D3 pro much), and I don't love internal batteries.
Thanks for the very detailed video comparsion. Its interesting some people are saying that the D3 Pro is much better, but now Im a bit confused. I know you said, that you are not really shoot outdoors, but what do you say, for no budget short films, without an audio technican is the Deity D3 a good solution, especially if I can boompole it sometimes to the top of my talents?
Great. I'm wondering... Can you use the D3 with your laptop only, as a voice over mic for instance? This way I'd have a mic to use with my camera outside and when traveling and a mic to use in the office for zoom calls and VoiceOver work. Many thanks!
I have my D3 pro on a gain of 4 (-12db) and have the mic about a foot away boomed near pointing down at about 45 degrees. I still get a buzz or noise which I have to remove in post. Is there specific gain settings you would use on the camera and mic?
D3 sounds great to me. I record into a recorder not camera so can have more control than a camera. Will try to find one here in Saigon. I definitely don't need anything with a built=in lithium battery. It's a deal killer.
Time ⏳ wasn't good to this microphone. Taken care of, but, the battery just couldn't keep up with 10 months. Two purchased and both crapped out within a month on each other. Both D3 Pro.
If I have the Deity D3 Pro connected directly to the camera, will it turn off when I turn the camera off, and then turn on when I turn the camera back on? (without me pushing any buttons?)
Great reviews 👍🏾I needed this right on tim glad I found your video O am a new subscriber. . D3 sounds just like the D3 pro I can't tell the difference. BTW are you selling any one of your mic gear for youtube videos only?
Thanks for your video but do you know how to use the d3 pro mic with my macbook (M1)? the included jack plugs in but no sound is recording. Do I need some kind of attachment? Thanks
What your opinion on the D3 if you plan to record review videos? I was planing on buying a Boom Stand to have the mic right above me. I am literally lost! lol
@@JSyntax Thanks. I am doing beauty review channel so having a yeti to me would be more for a commentary channel or of course voice-over. Thanks so much for your content and your respsonse.
Deity also makes a "Location Kit", that allows you to connect the mics to a boom. I believe there may be a video or two of the Deity mics with people using the location kit.
@@queenapple9012 perhaps we are talking two different things. I thought you were talking about a "mic boom" in which case at around 8:13 in this video th-cam.com/video/oZt3CS4FYOM/w-d-xo.html&lc=z22ofbcbgxyovhy14acdp434n0p5y3cenp1od4dgwtxw03c010c.1566143220640672&feature=em-comments might help.
JSyntax hahaha my thoughts exactly! During talking head stuff I just keep it on MF. However, with run and gun vlogging it’s on AFC and it’s a crapshoot, as you know

Very detailed comparison and review. Thanks!
Thank you very much
D3 pro sound very crisp like a podcast
D3 non pro as well
Thank you so much for this. I love your sincere style of video and you totally convinced me to go and buy the D3. Also subbed.
Thank you so much for your stop and supporting my channel I really appreciate it thank you
Thanks for the review, cheers from Montreal
When you're lifting up and putting down the MAONO CM10S, you can hear all the bumps. It's because that one lacks a rycote shock mount.
Fair point!
I got the D3 since I don't need the stepless gain control, the low cut filters, and the rechargeable battery of the Pro version.
Thanks for the review :)

Good to know, Ill try to be more consistent with AB testing

How does the Deity D3 compare to an equivalent Rode offering? Rode is more expensive, but that doesn't always mean better. Thanks and good video!
Would you be able to do a video of the D3 Pro when outside vlogging? Would like to see how the High Pass filter assists
Hey, great video! Easily one of the best out there on comparing the two mics (BTW I agree with about not loving the internal rechargeable battery in the D3 pro). Liked/subbed. Looking forward to more videos from you....

@@evilgeniusentertainment makes sense! I hope you enjoy and let me know what you think of it when you get whichever mic
Great video, man. Good production & editing.

I would only buy the pro version if you need those extra features

Unfortunately you missed on the street with the wind muff to see the noise difference maybe next video

I bought one but I can hear hissing sound. Not sure if it's my dslr's issue... Great review btw
Share a video with audio so we can diagnose the issue

Thanks! And what do you mean by your last question? Sorry I didn't understand completely.
Thanks for the comparison! How would I use either of these mics with the Tascam Dr40? It says I need a TRS adapter on their website manual
Interested in the same thing. How would it be using it with something like a zoom h1n/h4n?
Does the Deity D3 (not the pro) make hiss recording with a Canon 80D?
Wondering the same thing. Can’t find out so I gotta get the pro 😔

You'll need a trs to trrs extension
@@JSyntax Thanks!

For the price it's fantastic Imo. If you're just doing over voice overs straight into your pc or Mac, check out my reviews on the blue yeti nano.

I did buy my own boom but my camera not compitable to a small camcorder that I have.

if i have zoom h1n, do i still need deity d3 pro or just buy deity d3 non pro version??
Either works.. What du you prefer
thanks for this breakdown ✌️btw Team G85
G85, terrible auto focus haha but I love it still Mb

@@danzbeard ditto!
Cheap D3 is way better, if using with external portable recorder like zoom h1n, we have All the features from the pro version and more.
I didnt like that you changed locations when you were comparing the mics
Can I use this with any phone and how long is the cord?
To me the D3 non pro sounded better.
"its a lot closer to my mouth" then 2:19 "its a lot closer to my foot" lol
شكرآ جدآ
so essentially no difference?
That's what I thought. Maybe slightly better performance. Also low filter pass and manual hardware gain are lacking.
@@JSyntax what are your thoughts on maybe buying a used one on ebay? or even new I saw a d3 pro that was 160 dollars
do you have to change clothes? 😁 anyway great comparison. im buying the non pro version soon.
Actually your vlogging is funny lol
Thanks! :)
The non-pro has much more hiss.
Really? :(
You look like Naymar
Lol
Not even close. This dude looks way better.
Thanks…U.K.
