      I probably could/should have got one without a motor as well. I don't think it's that hard to take apart. I would look up how do do that. The antenna wire also runs through there so you might need some small tweezers. Also some people have 3d printed shells so if you have access to one that might be an option? Good Luck!! 👍

    Thank you for this helpful guide. Id like to take off the arms and motors and send the camera body and electronics to 100K feet aboard a high altitude balloon. Will the done body still respond to commands and take, transmit and store video? Even after it goes out of range>?

    • @NathanShantz
      @NathanShantz  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So the max height that a DJI drone can go to is 1640 feet (until it stops the motors). I'm not sure if it would stop recording or if anything else will shut off if it goes above a certain height. If you are going straight up you should be able to transmit the signal for a while but I don't think you could see it at 100k feet. It should keep recording unless dji stops that past the max height. What if you used a gopro or something like that?

      @NathanShantz i hung a shotgun shell 3 ft under it as a moving target. One bullet hit the metal casing on the shell and transfered momentum to the drone, causing it to flip upside down, tangling the wire that was holding the shell into 2 motors, and breaking an arm falling from around 3M. The motors kept spinning even upside down in the dirt......
      Air blew and tested it with the broken arm and it still flies just fine, but I need to fix the broken arm. It's not completely broken off.

    • @NathanShantz
      @NathanShantz  ปีที่แล้ว

      I seen that you can get a shell after I fixed mine. Its probably half the price but you still have to take apart the drone, remove the antenna connection and unsolder the wires. I just took apart my broken arm and it's kinda difficult to take it apart. I broke the arm cover that allows access to the wires. I think they glued it. • @NathanShantz

      So the black piece with the 2 screws that holds the arm in has a spring in it. This spring only rotates from 0° (folded in) to like 150° (folded out). It actually has enough force to go to 180° but is physically locked at the 150°. This is how it locks. If take it out when it's folded out and put the spring back when it is folded in, it will not be able to lock in the out position. My guess is you took it out in one position and put it back in the other. Try putting it back in the other position or you can use some pliers and rotate the spring. Hope this helps!

    Excellent Nathan! Just as soon as my replacement arm arrives I can be comfortable fixing it, Thanks! Not the best pilot yet but in this case, I got distracted by one of the heroin addicts next door asking a Very Stupid question "Is that a drone?", and the wind shoved it into our chimney. Are the mini and mini 2 arms interchangeable?

    • @NathanShantz
      @NathanShantz  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      From what I've looked up the mini and mini 2 arms are the same size and will both fit on both drones. The motors on the mini 2 arms are a bit better than the mini's. I don't think the performance would be effected with a mini 2 motor on a mini, but the mini 1 motor on a mini 2 might have a bit less flight time. I would try to find the correct arm for your drone but they will both work! Hopefully that helps👍

    💥 Great video Thanks. Does anyone think that a break like this can be repaired with epoxy cement.?

    • @NathanShantz

    • @NathanShantz
      @NathanShantz  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I haven't had this error before but doing some research you could have a bad ESC board (where the motor wires solder too)Before looking into replacing it, I would double check your soldering and make sure the contacts are clean and wires aren't shorted. Use some alcohol and a small paintbrush and clean around the pads and try again. Good luck!

      The arms are the same but the motors on the mini 2 are a bit better. I don't think it's a problem using a mini 2 motor on a mini 1 but using a 1 motor on a 2 might not be that good. You could also swap your mini 1 motor on to a new mini 2 arm.
