    My new part came today and I was able to successfully make the repair. Although I very nearly rounded off the 3rd screw as it was tough coming out. All done in 15 minutes and test flight went like a dream. Thank you

    Holy hell you have steady hands, trying to get those screws in without a magnetic tip was a nightmare for me. At one point a screw fell down the little hole where the wires come out, spent a good 10 minutes shaking the thing to get it out lol. Maybe a drop of lithium grease or WD40 to try to loosen it? I’ve seen TH-cam videos of people putting a rubber band between the screw head and the driver. Push really hard being careful not to slip and stab yourself!

      Thank you very much for your reply! I have one more question - when you move the front arm by the presser foot front and back (unfolded, of course), can you feel a slight loosening?@@sciencebygabrawy

    • @sciencebygabrawy
      @sciencebygabrawy  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes maybe a little. And now this totally makes sense Michal thank you! In the video I said everything looks great but now that I’m really thinking about it, that axis hinge does seem slightly less powerful than the other side. I mean it’s all made in China, idk. I guess the bright side is that, when it comes to flight performance, it shouldn’t make any difference. If you’re wondering if you should buy original DJI parts, I’ve looked through the DJI phone app and all they have are replacement screws and propellers. My go-to is Amazon lol.

    • @michalralu
      @michalralu 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@sciencebygabrawy One more question - does this slight loosening occur on the repaired arm or both? Where the arm meets the body?

    • @sciencebygabrawy
      @sciencebygabrawy  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No, just the repaired one because the axis hinge is an after market part and not necessarily made by DJI. Did you already replace the axis hinge and the new one feels loose? If you’re having issues with the repaired arm being wiggly or loose, maybe purchase a second axis hinge. If the new one feels tight, you could take the other axis hinge and return it.

    Great video. I just had this same break happen. I do also have DJI Refresh. They say manually doing a repair would void the warranty and that program. Not sure if they could actually tell given how simple this repair actually is? I’m on the fence! Love not to engage that program but clearly this is a simple repair!

    • @sciencebygabrawy
      @sciencebygabrawy  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah I see what you mean. I’ve always been that kind of guy who doesn’t like any mechanic messing with his car. They “fix” one thing but break another. I prefer just to do everything myself but yeah. Refresh totally makes sense for a massive overhaul.

    • @sciencebygabrawy
      @sciencebygabrawy  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah. Maybe there’s just not at big enough market yet. I’ve been really trying to remember to switch back from sport mode to normal mode when the drone is no longer in an open wide space. You just forget sometimes in the midst of all the fun lol

    • @NicManGun
      @NicManGun 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Yea, that’s what happened to me, I lightly ran into my vehicle and it fell 4’ and broke… upgraded axis arm hinges and custom Kydex clip on pieces for the arms and body would make it still really light but extremely strong. I might just buy the materials and do it myself.

    Just curious how many drone operators here crashed multiple times before this part gave out? I had 3 accidents before it gave on me. One strong hit into the side of my house 1 at 10 -15 ft high dropped right down fast onto cement and 3rd crash against paneling in the house. All 3 I was using blade guards. So maybe it could’ve cost me more. The mini 4 was acting very sketching during all flights with wobble. Like it couldn’t handle any wind. I stopped being cautious and took it out too a soccor field and really started to put it through some testing. Then it woke up. ❤I really think it’s going to be a lot of fun like my Mavic. This is a wonderful video Sir thank you. God bless you in Jesus name Amen❤

    If you have refresh send it in this repair requires tool purchases you can round the Tbit bringing screw out so if that happens use #4 Bit to bring it out rest of the way. Leave cam shield on. Remove blades on broken arm temporarily get them out of the way. Remember how you took them off. When putting part back on notice the concave side goes to the front mounting screw to arm is up 11- 12 oclock position roughly. It may be necessary to use a spring loaded center punch also if you round the head during extraction of screws. Knocking it several times on an angle off to one side of the screws face counter clockwise.🎉❤

    Great instructional video, I just have one question: if the broken arm isn't lighting up and calibrating upon startup (like the other 3 do) does this mean that I also have damage with the wires as well? Or will replacing the shaft acid hinge fix this issue? My arm is hanging out more than the damaged one in the video.

    • @sciencebygabrawy
      @sciencebygabrawy  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you sir! So unfortunately, it sounds like you got a wire issue at hand. There’s always a chance that you could repair the cut wire without having to pull apart all the body shell pieces but if you do have to remove more, I would write down the steps you take being your first time so you don’t forget anything! Btw new arms come with new wires and they’re about $100. Good luck!

    You think there’s anyway to reinforce that hollow bracket with JB weld or like you said maybe we could fill the cavity on all 4 with epoxy. I think Jb weld drys really hard like ceramic if we fill each cavity flush then dremil it nicely crafted we’d have a doubly strong part what do you think?

      Well, if it were my drone I’d epoxy the head of my screwdriver to the head of the screw. Then wait 24 hours. Then I would spray a very small amount of WD40 or lithium grease down the threads. Then I’d try backing off the screw. I don’t know if you have a better idea but anyway good luck!

      I’ll tell you but please use ultimate caution and precision. Use the smallest finest punch and punch a dent in the center. Drill with the absolute skinniest drill bit you can find down as far as the screw goes. Drop a drop off lithium grease to loosen. Put the punch back in and gently wiggle it out. Good luck.

      @@sciencebygabrawy I just went ahead and tried the epoxy method. The super glue stuck the plastic back together and I have placed the axis hinge back into the arm in its original position. Have flown the drone once without issue however I believe if I pull that arm in the wrong direction when folding it out then it will likely break the axis far more easily again. In summary the epoxy method works but I dont trust it long term so I have ordered a replacement piece anyway in case.

    • @sciencebygabrawy
      @sciencebygabrawy  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Rubel, I’m sorry you’re having this issue. It’s more common than you think, even right out of the box with the mini 4 pros. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there’s a good chance that you’re gonna have to send it in to DJI to have it repaired. 1C000310 and 1C000317 are common error when there is a loose connection between the camera lens and the board. You didn’t do anything wrong it’s totally a manufacturing defect. Now, there is something you might want to try before you send it in. There’s a small chance that a simple software reset will do the trick. If it works, it wasn’t a loose connection. A five minute software reset or update is always worth a try. Good luck Rubel and let us know what happens!

    • @sciencebygabrawy
      @sciencebygabrawy  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don’t think it’s normal play. There’s certainly a bit of damage and you’ll likely find it if you take out the screws that are holding the arm in place. Have a question, did you use any thread lock or Locktite for the screws, if so which do you recommend? Just curious if the vibration from the motors can make the screws vulnerable to coming loose without some sort of thread lock. Thanks.

      I’ve never been worried about any screw that can be tightened down snug but I’ve thought about this question a lot because I recently bought a pack of knock off propellers hoping to save money. When they’re screwed in snug, the propellers won’t spin, so I’m forced to back off the screws a bit. I know sounds like a really bad idea. On several occasions, upon putting the drone away, the propellers would just come off and I’d wonder how did they not fly off during the flight. Anyway, for parts that are not being constantly replaced, like arms and stuff I think it’s a great idea! But I personally am replacing propellers all the time because I like to do a lot of various stunts and maneuvers lol. Well, my worry is after a while that locktite will eventually gunk up the inside of the screw socket from so many propeller replacements. But for arms and that kinda thing? Awesome idea! I don’t think it would hurt a thing!

      Thank you for the response, I just replaced the left arm yesterday, tightened down all the screws, and flew it. Seemed fine but will check them prior & after each flight to ensure they’re tight. Thanks!😉✌️

      Wow! Pretty big job replacing the entire arm! Makes you think twice about using sport mode huh lol. I love sport mode lol. But about rechecking your screws a few times- Good plan for sure!

    broke it within 20 minutes of getting the drone... I have the care refresh but don't want to use it if such an easy fix. darn return to home took over with a low battery and flew right into a building😢

      @sciencebygabrawy  17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes! I learned the hard way- when it’s low battery, it’s hyper focus time and if you’re able to walk to it, drop that thing as low as possible manually as fast as you can so that if it really does fall out of the sky, at least it’s 10 feet off the ground and not 100 feet up. Spendy toys!

      Yep, yours just must be much tighter. You should probably be able to get pliers in there, right? Needle nose pliers maybe.

      It a good design IMHO, I just broke mine and got it replaced thanks to this video pretty easily. If the hinge was stiff arm could of broken (at least with situation I had to face) which would be harder and expensive to repair.

    The screws aren't magetizeable. Like the prop screws these #T3 are some soft cheap pot metal. I'm actually using temporary poster putty to hold onto the screws. I also folded up a piece of paper to block that hole temporarily. Are just filming and refilming until you get the peefect shot of you hold onto those screws. Because theyre not magnetic??? 😅😅😅

      Thanks for the great tips!! Great ideas! I have this way of keeping the screws on the screw driver using my fingernail as I lower it into the screw hole lol. I don’t think I re-recorded anything but maybe, this was a year ago now. Thanks bubblz!

    Ok my dji mini 4 pro broke down and i am ordering part so i will come back here once i have received the parts and will fit it up in my drone. Then i will give you the second comment. I hope this will work with my drone too. 🥲

      It’s good for pilots to work on their own drones as this gives them a better appreciation for the engineering that goes into it! It’ll work bud!

      Clipped some leaves and it fell from the take-off height (4 feet?) on soft grass, hinge broken. Depends on your luck I guess.
      I think it is a weak point on purpose because it is easy to repair.

    • @sciencebygabrawy
      @sciencebygabrawy  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Genius, really! I think that might actually work! It’s always a balance - Strength vs cost vs lightness.
