The repeater box works on ANY CAR with a key fob I thought. But they got a signal imitator out. It can capture your signature, which basically makes a duplicate key. Scary stuff..
You can get a fortified kill switch off amazon. I was looking at those to build a way to use my cell phone to activate it. One could use a viper alarm with the cell service and take the box and the switch, hook it to the fuel pump, or use it to power a camera up . It has a gps tracker and a phone alert. It shouldn't be too hard to wire it to work as a remote . After my car got jacked I went to a dark place and being a mechanic I figured out a way to wire up a tazer ( air fired ) to shoot center mass into the driver seat.....my cop neighbor told me I could do time for that.

You can pretty much drive wherever without a fob. After the car is shut off the vehicle won't run until you either have a fob orrrrrr utilize whatever a person/or thief might be using to steal the vehicle.

That's crazy! I didn't know that.... So these little boxes act like a Wi-Fi repeater but it repeats the signal being emitted by your key fob. I agree that using a faraday box to block the RF being emitted by the key fob is a great idea! You can't repeat a signal if there's no signal to repeat!

Love the video. I've heard of this issue but never saw it in action. I bought a new '19 Challenger 392 and I also bought an RFID blocker box that I leave in my kitchen and all the car and motorbike fobs go into that. I've done some tests with the fob in the box, lid open and lid closed and it definitely blocks the signal when closed. I also have an RFID blocker pouch that works but I got sick of having to take the fob out of it and put it back in each time. Now after parking at home, I drop the fob into the box and that's it. Truth be told, I get lazy when the car's inside the garage (which has its own lock, alarm, camera, etc.) so I don't always drop the fob into the box like I should, but I always do it when the car is outdoors.
This has been happening near me for about three years. They have been using it mainly to get in the cars and steal from inside the car. Gotta keep those keys away from doors and windows or in a sealed pouch that prevents transmission . A rfid blocker. A box lined in foil or sticking the fob in fridge , freezer or microwave will all help
You may want to try having a spare (not plugged in) microwave oven (smallest size because all it used for is to hold key fobs) to place your key fobs in, after your inside your locked and secured home.
Dodge says that this update will be available near the end of the second quarter of 2021. The software upgrade will limit a stolen car to engine idle speed. That means your Dodge Challenger Hellcat will only make about 3 hp unless the correct security code is punched into the Uconnect screen. Dodge says the four-digit code is customizable, which means you’ll be able to set it to the same four-digit code you probably use for everything else.

That's why dodge is coming out with new security updates for the Scat Packs and SRT models. Unconnect will require a code input or the car will only have something like 4hp and 11 ft lbs of torque. In other words, the car will barely go.
I've read about this but I don't know if I want to be bothered typing something in every single time I want to start the car. Maybe that's not how it works but I guess I'll have to wait and see. I have a '19 Challenger 392 SPWB.

@@davefrench6701 I thought the point of the signal repeater cheater box was to fool the car into thinking the keyfob is present even when it isn't. So if it isn't but the car thinks it is and it doesn't ask for the code then the code is useless. If the car thinks it isn't then entering a code is a bad idea because it would override an absent keyfob and we don't want that. If the car thinks the keyfob is present AND it asks for the code, that would work. Am I missing something? Maybe, but I guess we'll get to see a working example pretty soon after some cars get the update.
I keep my key fobs wrapped in aluminum foil specially when I’m at the house and where ever I park it. No signal will go out when you wrap it in aluminum foil
This isn't surprising. Get either a Viper or Computstar two way paging alarm with shock sensor and starter kill. In addition get an IGLA Pin code system too.
My 2 cents is for the people dropping 10k + on their mopar but not dropping a couple hundred on an after market alarm to at least try to prevent their cars from being stolen.
In the parking of the house, build in front of the parking and on the side, load columns that come out of the ground with the control of the phone and no one steals, takes the car from the house,When you park it in the city or on the street you can place sensors to send a message to your phone if you are the one who is moving or lifting and write yes if you are not you write no it calls 911 possibility of stealing the car with license plates at this address. is simple :)
A physical kill switch to stop the key fobbers and some sort of brake locking system (a way to lock up the brakes) so that the vehicle can't be rolled away...similar to a 4 wheel line lock.

They also sell a soft, faraday "envelope" that holds your phone or key fob. They work great. Destroyer1320 has a vin plate cover as well as the neutral disconnect plate to protect your car.
Great video. You can turn off the passive entry to help mitigate some of the risk. Not all but some. That way the car isn't looking for the fob it has to recieve a signal from you clicking unlock on the fob before unlocking the doors.
As others have said - a faraday bag/box will prevent the repeater box from finding your key fob signal. As long as your keys are in the faraday bag they’re gonna have to steal it the old fashioned way.
Best theft deterrent is to remove the battery from your mopar key fob….just ignore the key fob message and enjoy 😉 coming from an ex mopar tech, as far as starting it without the battery in your fob just hold it up the the engine start button.
Totally agree with what you said at the end. I just don't get how the manufacturers do so little to prevent auto theft. I mean Dodge pushed out this security upgrade for Challengers and Chargers but they didn't do it for vehicles like the RAM TRX. Seems like they could add biometrics to the push button start so not only do you need the signal from the fob you also need the owners fingerprint before it would start.
All you need to do is wrap Foil around your key fob...Wrap it ab 3-4Times and your fob needs to be inches away to open your door...I’ve done this since 2016...It works.
What is this repeater box called ? And where do you buy one I want to make videos on this to help get this information around to help prevent these thefts it’s so rude and just wrong
So this is recommended to me just as soon as I was thinking of adding remote start to my challenger 💀soooo I shouldn’t add remote start then or if I do add it will a kill switch make it not stealable ?
Good job.....boxes are not illegal, but using it to steal a car is. Add some standalone trackers where they are not expected. Ultimately, add a wheel boot when outside the garage.
I have been doing some research and I have yet to find anything from Dodge that says there was a security update to shut a car down without a key fob. Think about the situation... someone steals your car and is driving down the highway with cops in hot pursuit. Suddenly the car shuts down! Think about the liability with a dead car careening into oncoming traffic or a building. I think your expectations around what you expect a manufacturer to do to protect you from yourself.
This is literally stupid that they even make something else that damn thugs can use to steal! Thanks for this! Im glad I ran across this while watching some Dale Earnhardt #3 videos!
It's quite simple all you have to do is get switch wired a fuel pump and a another cutoff switch to the coil and this one is for free you can simply take out the fuses that start the car
It will drive forever and them boxes are very easy to get and not only dodge vehicles all vehicles with an key fob. And it doesn't matter if the keys in ur house. The reason the dodge vehicle because they are high in demand 392 hellcats red eye and demons. Have ur fob in aluminum foil when in public especially car shows.
I have a 2016 scat and disabled the keyless entry through your evic...I believe that would stop the repeater box...unless a theif was standing close to your car when you hit the lockup on your fob....That keyless entry looks cool when you roll up to it....but it is also a sensor that runs 24 7 365
- The best advice regarding this serious problem is: a) Buy the 'Auto Lock Pro' for $70 which was developed by retired cops; the hardened unit hooks up behind the brake pedal and up against the floorboard and prevents any depression of the brake pedal. It has a hardened circular lock which are hard to pick. The body of this device is heavy and made of hardened steel. b) Next, pull 6" of aluminum foil and fold in half so you have a 6" x 6" square. If you have extra Fobs, make extras. Put the fob in the center of the foil, roll it up and fold the ends over flat. You now have a very basic Faraday cage which EFFECTIVELY blocks all RF signals to and from the Fob by any Repeater. The Repeater can't detect the Fob no matter how much power the it's using. Wrap the Fob and try unlocking the doors or starting the car. And if by chance someone gets your Fob's code, the Auto Lock Pro will prevent the depression of the brake pedal needed to start the engine or get it in gear, preventing a theft. This procedure will work with any car with a Fob.
Used to drive a 2017 push to start Camaro before my current car. Always thought it’d be funny if someone ever figured out how to steal it, bc I had a theft mode that could remotely throttle down the engine, alert police, and lock the car’s door to keep the thief inside. Ironically, I went and bought a Benz that has absolutely none of those capabilities in the slightest. ‘Murica, land of the free and brave’ or however tht shit goes I guess

The repeater box works on ANY CAR with a key fob I thought. But they got a signal imitator out. It can capture your signature, which basically makes a duplicate key. Scary stuff..

Add a kill switch and hide it, makes it a bit challenging to get the car started...
Wire the fuel pump to a cabin switch 👍
good one
You can get a fortified kill switch off amazon. I was looking at those to build a way to use my cell phone to activate it. One could use a viper alarm with the cell service and take the box and the switch, hook it to the fuel pump, or use it to power a camera up . It has a gps tracker and a phone alert. It shouldn't be too hard to wire it to work as a remote . After my car got jacked I went to a dark place and being a mechanic I figured out a way to wire up a tazer ( air fired ) to shoot center mass into the driver seat.....my cop neighbor told me I could do time for that.
That saved my 93' GT convertible from back in the day from getting taken! In 95'....I had a 'skamaticics chip' that you pull out under the dash...glad I pulled it out that night! They busted the column but could't figure out why the car wouldn't start :)) bastards

Sorry I missed the premier we were shooting the other video.
I saw the chat, major shout out to all that were in the live premier.
Great vid and I like how you handled it. Vids like these are tough because you want to inform people but not the wrong people. Although the wrong people probably already know anyway. Can't wait to see what happens in the next one and how far you can drive without the fob.
You can pretty much drive wherever without a fob. After the car is shut off the vehicle won't run until you either have a fob orrrrrr utilize whatever a person/or thief might be using to steal the vehicle.
@@zaytyga yeah, I found that out with my own car. Makes sense though cause otherwise you'd be stranded if the battery just died in the fob.
Might be time to go semi old school and buy a steering wheel club. Crank the wheel to full lock and they can have fun pushing it in a circle.
I remember that dodge had some theft tracking system that said if they can't retrieve your car in 30 days they will refund you your whole car. I thought that shit was ballsy af

At first I thought you said you live in a mall parking lot during daytime.
Great idea

Wow. This is crazy how jealous people get when they see something they can't earn. Hope they resolve this soon.
Thank you TK........
I worry about my Car getting stolen........I am grateful for your VIDEOS.
This has been happening near me for about three years. They have been using it mainly to get in the cars and steal from inside the car. Gotta keep those keys away from doors and windows or in a sealed pouch that prevents transmission . A rfid blocker. A box lined in foil or sticking the fob in fridge , freezer or microwave will all help
lead paint on the walls etc
You may want to try having a spare (not plugged in) microwave oven (smallest size because all it used for is to hold key fobs) to place your key fobs in, after your inside your locked and secured home.

Glad I park my Scat Pack in my garage all the time. I need to contact one of the dealerships here and see about that new update.

My wife dropped me off at work and I had the key fob in my pocket. She drove all the way home about 20 miles without the keys. I couldn’t believe it would drive that far without stopping.
You should cover the way how people are stealing these cars just by breaking the windows putting it in neutral and having another car push it off to I guess somehow start up or maybe they just get it far enough to wear they can strip it for parts

As others have said - a faraday bag/box will prevent the repeater box from finding your key fob signal. As long as your keys are in the faraday bag they’re gonna have to steal it the old fashioned way.
