  • I'm planning an upcoming trip to Hawaii, but for this adventure I will be flying to the island of Oahu landing at Joint Base Pearl Harbor - Hickam Air Force Base and finding somewhere to stay while planning my excursions and adventures. Planning happens fast and furious because the Air Force only publishes flight schedules 72 hours in advance. So I will monitor flights leaving within my time-frame and be ready to move quickly. This video gives an overview of the Military Space Available program and why I think it is a great benefit for those who qualify to use it.

    C17 Loadmaster Hint: some bases cannot support passenger services at their home base, such as air reserve bases like March ARB. Therefore, we have to put a limit on passengers to 19 or less, (20 or more passengers requires we use a pallet. C-17's have 54 available, but depending on the cargo load, we lose seats). If we land at large bases like Hickam, Charleston, Travis, Ramstein they have a full cadre of terminal personnel, services are at a much higher level. At March, you might get a ride of the flightline, or you might be forced to walk from the aircraft to the terminal, or from the terminal to the Inn or the main gate. Be flexible with the aircrew, mechanics or ground personnel. If you have a question, hit me up my military family. I might be able to answer it after 20 years of flying around.

    Best video I found on TH-cam about space-a. Thank you! I wonder if the dependent has to fill out any additional forms before the travel?

      Hi Xueying! In response to your question, as long as all lawful dependents have the appropriate identification, they are good to go. If flying into another country, all travers would need to complete the usual and necessary customs and immigration forms and declarations, which vary from destination to destination. It is always a good idea to confirm any particular requirements with passenger terminal personnel. You can get their contact phone number from the AMC website and it should also be listed on that particular passenger terminal AMC Gram, which is also available through the AMC website. Hope that helps!

      Xueying, thank you for checking out my channel - I hope it is useful to you! In response to your question, as long as your lawful dependents have the correct identification, they should not need to fill out any additional forms. However, if traveling to another country, everyone in your party may have to complete customs and immigration forms and declarations. Those requirements can vary from destination to destination I would recommend that before traveling internationally, you check with passenger terminal personnel to find out if there are any additional requirements in this regard. They are always happy to help.

    Where do you park your car while traveling Space A? I live in GA but may have to drive to another state to catch a flight, and there is no telling how long I will travel.

      Most AMC Passenger Terminals have short-term 30 free parking and most military installations have longer-term parking lots with a monthly service fee. You can find that information using their AMC Gram or by contacting Passenger Terminal staff directly.

      Here is a link to the Travis AFB AMC GRAM listing the transportation services available in the local area. I'd recommend you call the Passenger Service Center and ask them which local taxi companies might have access to the installation. Here's the link:www.amc.af.mil/Portals/12/AMC%20Tvl%20Pg/Passenger%20Terminals/AMC%20CONUS%20Terminals/Travis%20AFB%20Passenger%20Terminal/TRAVIS%20PDF-%20WEBSITE%20UPLOAD.pdf?ver=kjmPSfrsoqC1YYyBeqs9ew%3d%3d×tamp=1704839075083

    Hello. My husband is a va100% veteran.
    I am Korean, so I want to visit Korea with my husband on Space A.
    And we have a puppy.
    What do we need to prepare?
    And is Space A available?

    • @CliffWagner
      @CliffWagner  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      100 % P&T Disabled veterans and their lawful dependents are eligible to fly Space-A within the continental United States, Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico, and other US territories. Korea is not an authorized destination for your veteran, however, you could probably get as close as Hawaii. Not sure if that would work for you, but that could be an option to consider.

    Can I bring a bicycle on the plane?

    • @CliffWagner
      @CliffWagner  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I have seen travelers with folding bikes. According to the AMC space A travel page---Each passenger may check two pieces of luggage up to 70 pounds and 62 linear (length+width+height) inches each. Motorized assistance equipment may not exceed 100 pounds in weight.
