    Excellent video and great points. As a former C17 Loadmaster, we often departed from our home base (March ARB, Riverside, CA) without one single passenger. We often departed with a completely empty C17. Learn the Space-A rules and regs. Talk to others who are Space-A junkies. Hit me up if you have a question, I might be able to answer it. Try it one time and be flexible. Good Luck my Space A family.

      March ARB is one of my favorite bases to fly out of! Virtually, no competition, great crews, and top notch terminal staff!

    I flew the patriot express three times. Once from Norfolk to Rota, Osan to Seattle, and BWI to Ramstein. It's definitely more comfortable than military planes. I did noticed, especially in Travis, that most people show up for the patriot express flights. It could be useful, because if there's another flight heading to same destination after the PE departs, there's a bigger chance of getting a seat. Awesome information and video!

    Very well done. We just had our first Space A out of SEATAC to Osan. Our son is stationed at Camp Humphrys. Our first Space A trip was very good. We got on the flights we hoped to make, and were surprised when we got called out to wait in the VIP lounge when we stopped to refuel in Misowa.

    Last summer I was able to fly the BWI PE to and from Mildenhall to visit my daughter in the UK. It was my first Space A experience since retirement and it was a joy to be able to get on those flights. As most know, that PE flight is no longer available at this time, so I will most likely need to catch something to Ramstein and then obtain transport to the UK via commercial means.

      I was stationed at Dover in the early 2000s and Dover usually have about 2-4 flights to Ramstein daily on military planes.

      I'm planning a trip from Travis AFB to Dover sometime this year, just to check things out there and at a couple of other installations on the East Coast.

      Generally there is competition for PE because it is a comfortable option, however, I see reports of PE flights with open seats from time to time. I believe it largely depends on wether you are flying during. PCS season or holidays.

    As I am approaching retirement from the civilian world, I am looking at taking a few adventures with Space A. I enjoy hearing about your travels and advice. I am not retired military, but a hundo club member. Hopefully it will be open to non US locations soon. Thank you for your word of wisdom. Does your wife ever appear on camera and provide advice for the spouse from her perspective?

    • @CliffWagner

      Thank you for your comment and for supporting my channel. The feedback I get from our fellow veterans is that space-a travel is widely considered their favorite military benefit and one that I certainly enjoy. I hope that you are able to plan some adventures soon. As for my wife, appearing on youtube is not her cup of tea, so folks are left with my ugly mug only on this channel for now. Thanks again!

    So I am brand new to space A. Service connection was just changed to 100% P+T so this travel is now an option.
    Am I understanding this right. (yes I watched you boot camp) You just sign up, it's good for 60 days and I can pick a flight and just show up on time and say hi I'm me can I have a seat.. It's that easy

    • @CliffWagner
      @CliffWagner  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      You and any eligible dependents can fly military space-a within the continental United States CONUS, Alaska, Hawaii, and all US territories. You will need to get your military ID and to do so, you can just take your disability award letter from the VA that certifies you as 100% DAV P&T. You should be able to print that from your myhealthevet account. Make an appointment at a USID facility and once you have your ID, you are ready to register to fly and ready to compete for seats. Good luck on your first adventure!

      @@CliffWagner Is Patriot Express the same as normal Space A that the sign up is only good for 60 days?

    • @CliffWagner
      @CliffWagner  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@jonvallejo6456 Yes sir - when you sign up, you are only signing up to depart one or more passenger terminals. That sign up process is the same whether you end up on a Patriot Express flight or a cargo aircraft. When you mark yourself present, you then compete for available flights.

    When im searching for potential flights, i am not seeing any flights listed in the midwest (Scott AFB, whiteman, Little Rock).

    • @CliffWagner
      @CliffWagner  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I have Beale AFB in my backyard a short 30 miles away, with a Passenger Terminal and all, but exactly zero out-bound Space-A opportunities. It is primarily because or its reconnisance mission. Other AF Bases are primarily fighter missions or training with no cargo activity. Consequently, there are major regions that are effectively Space-A deserts. They might get an "in-bound" flight once or twice a year or a unicorn "out-bound" flight, but they can be rare.

    I’m an unusually tall person. Are PE flights all economy seating?

    • @CliffWagner
      @CliffWagner  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Actually, no - some of them have business class seating if you are lucky.

  • @christophermongillo9644
    @christophermongillo9644 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    So you won't know if you're flying patriot express or regular space A cargo aircraft since you don't sign up for specific flights just departure and arrival bases? Is that correct? If not how do you distinguish this when planning?

    • @CliffWagner
      @CliffWagner  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You monitor both the 30 Day and 72 Hour Flight Schedules. The Patriot Express Flights are listed on the 30 Day Flight Schedule and then pop onto the 72 Hour Flight Schedule, so if you are flying on a date that coincides with a PE flight you will know.

    F space "A" people. Life's too short to wait and get stressed out but i understand why some people like it because they are cheap.
    Think of how you gonna find a place to stay and get off base when you get to your destination, worse, you get bumped and have to cancel hotel.
