    Not in Military, but heading out next month, what if I am stationed in Japan, and want my mom to use Space A to come visit me in Japan? Travis Air Force Base is relativwly close to her location.

    I’m 100% service connected vet Group 6. In read the instructions I’m unclear on if my wife can accompany me when flying to Asia or Europe or even CONUS.
    I’m living in Florida so that put two terminals within 3 hrs of me. Lastly when using hops to foreign destinations do you need to get visas prior to departure. Usually these are stamped at ports of entry but military bases at least when I was In did have this.
    Thanks and enjoyed your videos!

    • @CliffWagner
      @CliffWagner  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unless you are also retired, you would be in eligible for foreign travel. Veterans who are 100% and permanent, and totally disabled are eligible to fly space a accompanied by their lawful dependents. However, they are limited to the continental United States, as well as Alaska, Hawaii, and US territories only. Again, unless you are retired, foreign travel is off the table.

    Excellent info, thanks for sharing. Question, when traveling are we authorized to park our pov's at the terminals while traveling? Thank you

    • @CliffWagner
      @CliffWagner  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mark, most terminals have short term (30 day) parking availability. Usually the way it works is you would park immediately out front of a terminal, mark yourself present and once selected for a flight at roll call, you would be given a parking placard to place in the window of your car, reposition your car to the short term parking lot, (usually within walking distance) then you get your boarding passes and process through security. I know that was a long answer to a short question, but that is how it usually goes down. If you have any questions, always feel free to call terminal staff - they are very helpful.

    I’m enjoying your series. I’m newly retired and looking to travel with my wife. What months are the most successful for retired CAT VI passengers to travel CONUS and OCONUS? Second, living in Iowa, are their OCONUS flights available at any nearby terminals? Thanks.

    • @CliffWagner
      @CliffWagner  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ronald, sorry for the delay in my response - work and projects crept up on me this week. I am glad you enjoyed the videos - I hope they were useful. In answer to your questions, October through April are generally better months for CAT 6 Space-A travel. It is a good idea to avoid major holidays. The PCS season is generally considered late May through early September and this is a season to avoid, particularly OCONUS. Most of the OCONUS opportunities originate from west or east coast AMC terminals. However, there are rare occasions when and OCONUS options pops up. Rare, but it happens. Living in Iowa, and with the felxibility of a newly retired couple, I would recommend that you decide (generally) where you want to go, for example, Northern Europe. Pack your things, make ready and watch your Non-AMC regional ARNG and Reserve air bases in case something pops up. A more predictable alternative might be to jump on a low cost commercial carrier to get to BWI on the east coast or Travis AFB on the West coast to catch a more predicable ride on a Patriot Express going to Asia or Europe. If you get anywhere in Europe you can get a cheap flight on Ryan Air commercially and get anywhere you want to go for cheap. If you are not acquainted with the folks at poppinsmoke.com I would like to recommend their quickstart guide to Military Space-A Flights. They have great advice. @@SDsailor7 I use the Take-a-Hop app, which sends the sign up form to whatever terminals I select. The app sends them through my native email in my iPhone so they are available in my email sent files folder. I just go in on my computer and print out the hard copy. Simple as that.

    This video is 10 months old and at the time of its posting there is an *IMPORTANT* message. “Due to System Email Issues…”. That message is still on their site today.
    What is the problem? If it isn’t, and doesn’t work, then either fix it or take it down. Let’s get real and tell it like it is. Oh wait, it also says the AMC Does NOT perform the Actual Space-A Sign-up Process.
    Maybe my representative or senator can answer this.

    How do you sign up 60 days out when they only publish 30 day and 72 hour schedules?

    • @CliffWagner
      @CliffWagner  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’ll give you an example, I know that Travis Air Force Base has regular, recurring flights to Hawaii every week. So if I am aware that I’m going to make the attempt to travel to Hawaii at some point about 40 to 50 days out, I will sign up. Then I will begin making my preparations and plans and as I get closer to the timeframe that I actually want to fly, I begin watching the 72 hour schedule. Or alternatively, the30-Day schedule if my goal is to catch a patriot express flight. Bottom line, when you’re signing up, you are signing up to catch a flight from one or more specific passenger terminals within that timeframe. Not for a specific flight.

      The AMC Automated Sign Up Form has a space for it, but it says that it is (Optional) - I have always put mine in, but that is necessitated by my own sense of OCD. That said, I think it is safe to do so and I am assuming it helps... But it IS optional... As long as you have a hard copy of your sign up registration with the email date and to/from - you are golden.
