    Another way to know if the system has not been scanned before: switch to system map immediately after honking. If number of bodies displayed is not on par with the number detected by Discovery Scanner, or if only main star(s) are displayed while you’d be supposed to have more content then there’s definitely a FSS job to be done.

    Played the game for probably 500+ hours now and I had no idea that bodies turning up immediately on the radar, means that they've been scanned and handed in to universal cartographics somewhere.
    This has become my go to game to play while I listen to podcasts, audio books and albums, and while that is really enjoyable, I do feel like it's meant I've not paid close enough attention to some aspects as I probably should have aha, these are great videos, learning new things!

    An interesting approach might be to talk about different exploration ‘protocols’ for different aims… For example, are you just trying to cover distance to reach a target? Then follow procedure A. Are you searching for biologicals/geologicals? Then follow Procedure B. Looking to make money? Procedure C, looking for screen shots? Then D….etc.
    For me personally, setting aims and choosing a ‘protocol’ is useful…
    Right now I’m out exploring with my carrier. Heading toward a ‘base camp’ system… lots of different protocols in play.
    As always credit to you for the well put together content Mr. Exorcist.

    I’ve been playing for about a year now, been seriously exploring for a few months. Still learned something from this video. I had no idea you could turn the plant in the system map.

      Thank you! I'm glad you picked something up from the video. It took me forever to figure out the atmosphere rotation thing. The map can be really complex at times.

    My dude, I appreciate you so much! I just got the game a few days ago and between mining, dog fighting and transporting cargo I realized that what I like the most about this game is just exploring the universe, entering planets and sight seeing for a little bit, the problem was: I didn't understand anything about it.
    These two videos have helped me so much and I appreciate that a lot. Fly dangerous, commander. o7

      Welcome to the galaxy, CMDR! Exploration in Elite is a special experience. My "Out There" series is a weekly showcase of some cool places to explore in the galaxy. Each location is listed in the video description and on screen during the episode. I wish you well on your new journey! o7!

    This video series is a great recap for me. I played years ago and stopped at Sag A. Coming back, I definitely needed this. Thank you.

    Awesome vid... I found out the hard way that 'Elite' status in any of the fields just means that you have completed 'basic-training' and are 'Now' ready to begin the game. I'm learning things already in your beginner series as an Elite pilot lol... I would guess about 75% of the stuff on that right screen I have no idea what it means..... Tidally-locked?? huh? metallic vs metal rich... what? EDO is such an underappreciated simulator.

      Agreed! Elite status is just the tutorial. :)

    Ex, these are amazing. I'm not much of an explorer, I think the only thing I've done is the Colonia Highway and the occasional Guardian site. But this is really giving me juuuust the start of that itch to get out there. I can really sense your passion for this in your guides. Keep up the great work! o7

    Really good guide Ex. My tip would definitely be to use the FSS image guide as well, get to know exactly where everything is in the scanner. Going to send this to a new player we work with as think he'll find that really useful and also inspiring. Can't wait for part three now.

    Hi Commander, I've been to ED since the beginning in 2014, so nothing new for me in here. But I have to tell you that you've had explained all features very well. This should give some newbies a hand for exploration to dive into the unseen. For me it tooks about 6 months to get back to the bubble on my longest journey, which can be documented on EDSM for later rewies.

    The number 1 thing I tell people in my Squadron when they ask WHY I explore the galaxy in Elite Dangerous is this: All the things in this game are either transitory or temporary.. EXCEPT being the 1st person to discover/map/first footfall a new system/planet/moon. Being the 1st person to discover something is permanent.

    I am still trying to outfit my ASPx and I have already ran into that disheartening distances just from missions getting sent to stations 645k ls from the initial entry into the system 😂

    Hello thank you for the video. I saw in other videos they fire probes to map the planets is that unique to odisey and how and what you need to do? Is this after you use the advanced scanner and then you travel to a planet of interest? I only have horizons. Do you have a guide for it?

    • @CMDRExorcist
      @CMDRExorcist  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The scanning probes were introduced in Horizons. It's called the "Deep Surface Scanner".

    • @CMDRExorcist

      I have two Anaconda builds. THIS is the current build I'm using in Odyssey: s.orbis.zone/k9vo
      After the console transfer, I'll share my original/engineered Guardian build as well. o7!

    I’m on XBox with Horizons and had been waiting to go on lengthy exploration trips when space legs was available with Odyssey. Now that I will not have chance to walk on worlds, given your past experience with Horizons, do you feel that it is worthwhile to explore in Horizons? Or does Odyssey bring more enjoyment to exploration that Horizon can not match since exploration in Horizons is not the more complete experience?

    • @CMDRExorcist
      @CMDRExorcist  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. There's still plenty of cool stuff to see in Horizons!
