if Psijic order rarely intervenes directly then how often they intervene indirectly? perhaps they have indirectly intervened in other crisis events
Watching this video was the first time that the College questline made any sense to me. I knew about the Thalmor goal of unmaking the world, but Ancano is such a doofus that it just never occurred to me that he was actually doing anything coherent with that Thalmor purpose. If he was going to use the Eye to unmake the world (and that actually kind of makes sense, the stars and the sun in Skyrim's sky are holes into Aetherius, so maybe the Thalmor were just going to tear asunder the barrier between Mundus and Aetherius) then the Psijics stopping them makes sense for all the reasons you give.

I know it's not the point of the video; but from your description of the Psyijics, I can't help but picture them as TES's version of Unseen University Wizards.
They try to keep to themselves, but the wider world still knocks on the door occasionally.
They don't all agree. One comes in name-dropping the Order, the next guy's all official.
Who knows what the Psyijics could do with Pratchett's narrativium.
They'd be able to see that there's a story going on in Skyrim.
That the Thalmor are getting close to the Eye of Magnus. ("Oh, unmake the world? Can't they wait 'till after tea.")
Squabble ensues, they don't agree, but decide: "Nerien, go fix it."
Nerien tries so hard not to interfere that he name-drops the Psyijics all over the place but forgets to actually say anything useful.
They have to send Quaranir to fix it properly. The Thalmor end up feeling humiliated at their Agent's failiure. The Psyijic's tuck the Eye into the giant pool table in the 14th tower and go back to Tea.

Did they defy the Thalmor, or just one rogue High Elf...?
Maybe the Eye Of Magnus could be used by the Thalmor to kill the Psijics or destroy the world, that would be a reason?
Does make me wonder why they never intervened before, maybe this really WAS a special case.
The Psijics possibly do have some form of precognition, and foresaw what damage could be done.
That's true, Ancano could have gone rogue just as much as Quaranir and Nerien could have! He does have a buddy that tries to kill you after collecting the Staff, but its always possible they were in cahoots
@@10pointsofslashing Yeah, I saw that twat as a follower of Ancano rather than just a fellow Thalmor.
Otherwise, they'd have sent more than ONE person.
We also dont know what limitations their divinations have; its possible that they didn't know the world was in danger until a few moments before the first vision; then used their freeze time trick to debate and decide the best course of action.
