    Might be the un popular opinion but i 100 percent agree with the templers in every game we are shown the horror of abominations and how most mages will go to blood magic the millisecond they feel cornered orsino literally used blood magic and remember what anders said a mage just can't stumble across blood magic they have to make a deal with a demon say yes to its offer

    Logically a united empire is everyone's best chance at beating the Thalmor, but in a world where gods are as real and prevalent as they are, I can completely understand not forsaking your beliefs and risking where you will spend your eternal afterlife, especially when its your most hated enemies demanding you do so.

    Lords of the Fallen 2023 is amazing and it's only become better even in recent months. I tend to appreciate the characters somehow, especially through Paladin Isaac. For me, Dunmire's character is completed with the story of Isaac and even Dervla. Overall, I love the game and it contests Elden Ring after my experience with the DLC (Radahn 2.0?? Come on...).

      Hell yeah, man! I’ve actually revisited a lot of my thoughts on the characters and conflict of LOTF, and while I haven’t exactly changed my mind, I do find far more merit in them than I had talked about in this video. This game is legitimately one of my favorites of all time, and I hear you 100% about Elden Ring 😂 I have another LOTF video coming up here in late January-ish (it’s 2 back in the queue) and I’ll be talking about Dunmire quite a bit in it. Hope you stick around for that one! I don’t have enough LOTF fans in my life 😂

    Heres my stance The mages are ALWAYS right no matter the actions of the mages they are an oppressed people acting individually and not representative of a group The templars are a facist oppressive force and the actions of any individual templar are representative of the group as a whole. The templars also partake in cultural erasure of the elves (another oppressed group) and labotomizing protest and enslaving those lobotomized people. There is also the fact that the chantry, an oppressive religious force, is behind the view of the mages, the harm and subjugation to them along with setting up a system that turns all mages into weapons for their military. Any allegience aligned with them is in the wrong inherantly. There should be some level of education, training and skilled and monitored work the mages participate in but they should be full citezens. I would also argue that you would see less demonic possession from a population that is not oppressed (who has justifiable reasons to tap into such power) and is well trained in specifically ways to not be possessed. Perhaps a charter school with recertification that only teaches defensive and healing magic

    The Stormcloaks give me Talos shrines and Talos lets me shout faster so when I have dragon attacks I can spam them w dragonrend and they’re never allowed to fly away and then I’m able to make my Dragonbone arrows. The imperials remove all the Talos shrines and I can’t use dragonrend as quickly and it’s ANNOYING. I think we all know who the good guys are 🤭

    At the end of the day both sides know the Thalmor are the real enemy. One side plans to oppose the Thalmor with maximum effect. One side wants to do some culture war BS to carve out some power for its opportunistic leader then oppose the Thalmor with a "Skyrim alone" strategy. Yeah, it isn't a close call no matter how much people want to cope otherwise because the allegory demonstrates the stupidity of their real world politics. But maybe a dragonborn emperor-to-be is around to cut through that culture war wedge to depose the Thalmor occupation, defend the shared goals of the non Thalmor peoples of Tamriel, and deny the Thalmor their apocalyptic dreams.

    I’ve sided with the Empire (I always play Imperial) and dude, thank you for pointing out what I was thinking long run! I just wish that Bethesda did provide a DLC where we could take the fight to the Aldmeri Dominion, but I only have a part where the Empire was victorious in the civil war. Here’s how I would have done a bit of that story: 1) The Empire and Skyrim have regain their strength. But tensions are still high. 2A)The Aldmeri Dominion decides they’ll do something so stupid they indirectly break the White-Gold Concordat and its cause for Skyrim and The Empire to declare war together against the Aldmeri Dominion. 2B) In the declaration of war, High Queen Elisef approaches Tullius or the Dragonborn (whoever has become Emperor after Titus Meade II was assassinated). She knows Skyrim sees another chance for freedom from the AD (Aldmeri Dominion for short); not just for Skyrim but all of Tamriel. And in doing so she requests a stipulation - Should the Empire win against the AD and make the White-Gold Concordat officially null and void, Skyrim will have its independence but remain a strong ally of the Empire. 2C) With High Queen Elisef being the biggest lynchpin (or catalyst), she can reach out to Hammerfell and beseech them to assist The Empire and Skyrim to crush the AD once and for all. 2D) Hammerfell and the Empire are not on the best of relations because of the WGC (White-Gold Concordat), so it would make Elisef be not just Skyrim’s representative, but also a delegate between the Empire and Hammerfell. 3) Many Redguards are still angry at the Empire for feeling like they were betrayed. There are those who oppose an alliance because they’re still angry and think what the Empire did was unforgivable; and there are those who are still angry but are both smart and understanding in why the circumstances happened. Players can try to win public support for another alliance between all three (Hammerfell, Skyrim, and the Empire). 4) The player leads the fight and the Aldmeri Dominion is crushed. The cost will be heavy but I leave that to the writers to figure out. Anyway, I hope you see my comment and offer me your take about this being a possible expansion pack for Skyrim. I’d love to have a good conversation about this.

I think personally the empires weakness is the diffrent kind of ppl they have, kinda like Austria-Hungary and we all know how that empire ended. So I dont think it really matters the thalmor win the other way

    Pragmatically I side with the Empire, but philosophically I agree with the Stormcloaks on more points but they are doomed to failure long term. I genuinely dislike the Empire, but human survival comes first, and my headcanon is that the Dragonborn works covertly with the Stormcloaks to build a powerbase and makes a bid for the throne, sparing competent figures while killing the incompetent. Maybe even building a relationship with Tulius about the current state of the Empire and how they will fall without major restructuring. Being able to call dragons to battle also doesn't hurt the ability to enforce your claim.

    I belive the best option is to form a truce with the following results -Riften -imperial -Falkreath -SC -Markath- imperial -Hjalmarch- SC -the pale-SC -winterhold-SC Gives the words a sizeable realm and keeps ulfrics potential expansionism contained to skyrim for the near future but shows the thalmor they can't control jack lol. As a geography nerd, the empire and storm lacks both have vantage points to each other's capitals ensuring peace or a swift conflict. As well as giving skyrim control of 2 water ways leading to wind helm and the imperials 1 just incase.

    The way I see it, the rebels instigate more conflict and weaken Skyrim and the empire itself, which is what the Aldmeri Dominion hopes for, and why they have not taken a side and just sit and watch while the rebels and the imperials fight each other to exhaustion, and then they can just swoop in and resume the war from a stronger position. If the empire win the civil war, that will be a problem because then they will have to deal with a stronger empire now also including Skyrim. An nightmare for the Aldmeri Dominion is a united empire, which they failed to defeat on the field in the greater war. So for me I always side with the empire.

    What i find hilarious is how people think the Stormcloaks are some sort of powerful faction. Guys, not only are they fighting a weakened Empire, still recovering from the last war, but that weakened Empire only sent a single general to deal with the Stormcloaks. That 1 general not only matched Ulfric's tactics, but even exceeded and captured him within a few months. If Alduin and the Dragonborn had no involvement, then Tullius would've won the war at the start of the game. There's even text files in the start of the game that show his talk with the Thalmor. They wanted to take Ulfric prisoner (and likely let him escape again), and Tullius basically just said, "no, this is an Imperial matter, beat it."

    Not being able to target the Thalmor aside - the Empire curtsied to the Aldmeri Dominion even though they had reason to band together with both Skyrim and Hammerfell (and potentially more, depending on how ambitious the AD was) and stand against them but the Empire failed their people in both Hammerfell and Skyrim, not by force but by choice. Which is why I always side with the Stormcloaks. The Empire had it's chance and Ulfric revealed its biggest weakness: the Emperor. The AD spanked the Empire then they bent over and asked for more. However, when it comes down to my character - The Empire tried to execute the wrong person at the wrong time. Also, when I choose Hadvor at Helgen, that puts me on the side of the torturer and his assistant when we get to the chamber. That never sat well with me and the Thalmor and the Empire are the only faction with torture chambers through out the entire game, except Windhelm jail but torture goes against the Nord sense of honor so it was likely placed there very long ago. Unlike the several TCs found under command of the Thalmor and Empire. Let the Thalmor come. After I hand Ulfric the Jagged Crown, Skyrim is under this Daedra worshipping Nord Dovahkiin's protection now. My motto: "All Gods, No Masters. Skyrim belongs to the Nords."

    as the Psijics began their existence for the purpose of studying Padomay, it's possible that they came to revere Padomay, and only step in to prevent reality-ending events so that Padomay's change and chaos can continue. they don't need to stop the Aldmeri from starting a war, because war is change. they don't need to stop daedric princes from invading Nirn because the daedra are padomaic in their very nature. they don't need to stop the Numidium from causing multiple timelines to co-happen, because that level of chaos is almost pure Padomay.

    I cant disagree about the Thalmor being racist as they very clearly are. But so is Ulfric and arguably he's just as bad. Outside of the player character, have you ever seen a Stormcloak who wasn't a Nord? Skyrim For The Nord's! As he so eloquently puts it. So not only is he racist, he also persecutes his fellow humans. Where as the Legion has all manner of men and mer fighting for them. Also Just look at how he treats the dunmer and the argonians. No matter the race you will always have a home in the Empire! • @carbondragon

    To me, neither side is very attractive. On the one hand, they almost murdered me (the imperials) and weren't really too worried about that. They seem to be pretty bad stewards of the empire in Skyrim. On the other hand, Ulfric is no prize either (even despite the whole Elven dossier thing). I almost feel like NOT resolving the war leaves both sides in suspension and when the elves attack, they would probably both fight them. I feel like the empire should have offered a cease fire with the Dominion withdrawing from Hammerfell and no changes in Talos. And then they should have worked on restoring their army as fast as possible. It's easy to say, I don't know what would have happened. It's fortunate for everyone that Alduin didn't really want to end the world, he wanted to RULE it. Otherwise I think we'd be in a brand new world starting from scratch. I wonder what would happen if I took all the gear I made and found during a play of Skyrim as the dragonborn and gave it to Skyrim inhabitants, all that super powered armor and highly enchanted weapons and artifacts and money. Imagine every Skyrim soldier with Daedric armor at maximum smithing quality and a Daedric sword and shield. I'd love to see the elves try to roll over that army, or try to. Another thought, what if the empire granted Skyrim independence under Ulfric on the condition that they remain an ally of the empire against the Dominion? Would they take it?

    A really good video however as it is opinion I feel I disagree, yes it is the good thing to do to retract the right of analment in DAO; however as you pointed out in your video and cullen points out we have no way of knowing how many are demons and the point of the circle is to stop all demons/mages from commiting harm. Plus it has litterally been days once you arrive and I honestly do not think many mages survived anyway (although more likely a game resctriction not displaying so many in the tower). So I think once you save the mages you should have to say to gregor I do not know if any of them are possed. Also all this started from one mage getting possed so this could not litterally happen again. On DA2, I have done both choices but given if the mage incharge of the circle turns to blood magic and that meradith is just nuts I do not feel it matters or that it should matter which one you choose. anders does this but he has been in contact with blood mages from the circle so I can see why the right would be used. Plus as you said, blood magic and demons are everywhere and your on mom is killed as a resault of one in a story line. I kinda feel like hawk 70% of the time would agree with the right unless maybe his sister is there and he wants to protect her. Other then that I just feel everything in DA2 just shows how bad it is when one the templars are not doing their jobs well (being too rough) and not stopping it early enough. And hawk is there to see it all tbh. Good video though and this is just my opinion, I have done every choice in these games and it always comes down to morals. Protect the weak or protect the sufferers. (civies, mages)

      Hey, there! We sure do. Several times in just Origins and 2 alone. Connor, the Baroness, Grace, and of course, Anders - to name a few of the more impactful ones we see throughout the series. By definition, any mage that is not part of the Circle or abiding by the Chantry’s laws is deemed apostate, so you could lump Marethari in there as well. And technically Uldred would be considered apostate, too

    I have to break a lance for Greagoir: He is very reluctant to call the Right of Annullment and basically begs you to save Irving. He is much more happy, when Irving and the other mages are ok than if you kill them all. He is one of the better templars and seems to have a great working relationship with Irving. I would say they two together work great as a team and are both the good guys. I totally agree about Anders, still Meredith is not fit to be knight commander. Even without the red lyrium, she is clearly traumatised and biased and should not be able to have power over the people she hates. Kirkwall was in a special situation though, since the veil was pretty thin there because of the murders and atrocities done by the Tevinter back in the days. That is, why there are also so many serial killers around, like that magistrates son, or the one you hunt through 3 acts. There is a secret string of codexes, called The eNigma of Kirkwall, that explains this very well. SO basically, while Anders and Meredith both lost their shits, they might not have lost their shits so hard in part of the world (not justifying what they did, it just seems, that the weakening of teh Veil serves like a conduit for bringing out the worst in people). In the first two games, I side with the mages, because Greagoir is happier with Irving alive (and we can save quite a lot of mages) and Meredith is wrong. I pretend Orsino loosing it didn't happen, because he was pretty down to earth the whole game and the devs even said, that he only transformed, because they wanted another boss fight. In DAI there is no wrong decision for me. Both are vial. Though I prefer to do In Hushed Whispers, because it has this nice Doctor Who timeywhimey storyline. But I think, the templar quest is pretty interesting too. I think, both a valid to do. I just love the Doctor and companion vibe , Dorian and inqui have in IHW. It's more adventurous. I hated, that they shoved Cullen on us though. He was a lunatic in DAO and a Meredith apologizer for most of DA2 and I don't like him. He allowed mages to get abused in Kirkwall. As for good and bad: there are pretty bad people on both sides and pretty good ones. Wynne is a really good example of a very caring and responsible mage, Greagoir is the same for the templars. In DAO 2 you have Bethany , Alain and Feynriel (you two mage companions are both peices of shit sadly, Merrill doesn't take blood magic and demon deals serious at all and after having her along for Night Terrors, I lost all respect for her) and Thrask and Emmrich on the templars side. In DAI you have a lot of great people on both sides and even a fade spirit that helps you.

    • @goldengail3418
      @goldengail3418 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Cullen wasn't a lunatic in DAO. In DAO we had no idea if the remaining mages in the tower with Uldred had survived or not, or been tortured into blood mages. If the tower had been on the mainland, instead of having been on an island then chances are that things could've been much worse - especially with the templars low numbers in the the tower at the time. Cullen was also tortured - probably was sexually assaulted by desire demons - in the tower, alongside being starved as Wynne put it. He saw his comrades fall in battle, with himself being the last one left. He wasn't insane, he had reasons - albeit probably ruthless reasons by today's standards - for wanting to do the litany.

    So you fight for the Empire. They win. And the Thalmor still have free rein to terrorize and murder Skyrim citizens at their will under the pretense that they’re Talos worshippers. The High Queen in Solitude practically rolls out the red carpet for the Doninion. The Empire will save Skyrim? The Empire hands it over to the Thalmor on a silver platter. Whether the Stormcloaks can win or not is irrelevant. At least the Nords will fall to the Thalmor fighting rather than being quietly dragged away one by one to the slaughter.

    Imperials are the bad guys. 1. They side with the Thalmor 2. They dont even use their own soldiers so they are just killing the native population of a different country. 3. They are straight up killing you, the main character for no reason other than witnessing that they had to ambush Ulfric. 4. In the intro they are straight up racist towards you if you are not human. They are an occupying force.

      1: They hate the Thalmor and just need time to build up the strength to fight back. 2: The Empire in Skyrim is a mix of Nords and Imperials, plus other races in their holds. 3: The only reason you were almost executed is because the Captain was a total b****. And after her every Imperial commander you meet is relatively chill. 4: Hadvar is the only one that really comments on your race, and fun fact, Hadvar is a Nord. At least the imperials let non humans live normally with them, and even give them positions of authority.

      @alphawolf7417 1. The White Gold Concordat was made in 4E 175 the Skyrim story takes place 4E 201 thats 26 years, that's enough for a whole generation to be fully grown adult that can also be making babies that didn't even see the conflict. Not to mention the fact that Hammerfell kept fighting the thalmor and won. Winning their independence from the Empire. 2. General Tulius is the only Imperial in Skyrim, Everyone else is a Nord. And I don't count the Imperials guarding the Emperor those guys don't fight in the war. 3. They are blatantly racist, they know how they are properly named but unless you are a human, they call you cat/lizard/orc/elf, but if you are human they well refer to you as Nord/Bretton/Renegade(if you are Imperial)/Redguard. 4. Hardvar is cool I agree with that.

      @shinobi197 Well, first, 26 years is a generation sure, but soldiers that young would likely still be relatively new and inexperienced against Thalmor, who are centuries old. And this video and the evidence could imply that the Thalmor let Hammerfell win, so they'd split from the Empire, same as Skyrim. It's a genius tactic, really. Altmer hate all humans, so what better tactic then make the 3 main human nations split up. Also, what do you mean Tullius is the only imperial?? You can look up the Imperial Legion and see Legates who are Nord, Imperial, Dunmer, Breton, even Altmer. Heck imperial is the most common among the Legates. And the Stormcloak guards also comment on your race. Heck Windhelm is the most racist spot in Skyrim, with literal segregated districts and Nords harassing Elves for fun. In Imperial holds, Stormcloak loyalists are allowed to do as they please. In Dawnstar, we see the Stormcloak Jarl losing his temper at 2 retired Imperial Veterans wanting to wear their armor. Also, yeah, Hadvar is the goodest boy. Get a pint of mead with him whenever I'm in Riverwood.

    i think the stormcloacks victory is the cannon final. just think that imperials wanted you dead, and somehow, ulfric and you escaped from helgen (imperials would be thinking: we should kill those mfs when we could) and other point is that empire is weak and controlled by the Thalmor (in the thalmor embassy they reveal that don't want a Stormcloacks victory)

    I always play a Mage so always side with the mages. But I can at least see why the Templars exist. I try to view it based on most extreme end if one side gets what they want with Origin and the tower being probably my favorite case where I can see both side’s point, the Mages became abominations and the Templars were concerned it was not over, the surviving Mages wanted to live. I chose the side that would have been wiped out by the other if things went in the wrong direction so chose Mages. But yeah, Blood Mages are a legitimate problem but it seems like most Templar vs Mages becomes the mages as a whole on the chopping block while Mages being less regulated could result in some really scary stuff but hopefully on an individual basis.

    The Stormcloak soldiers, Imperial soldiers, Legate Rikke, and General Tullius are the good guys. They all have the same goal but different plans on how to carry it out. Ulfric himself is a Thalmor agent. Possibly even a WILLING Thalmor agent.

    Much like the Stormcloaks' victory conditions, the Stormcloak government requires constant intervention from "Stormblade" to have any realistic unity and staying power. If the protagonist/player character "disappears", then Skyrim is broken up from within by Imperial supporters, the Forsworn, and the Thalmor engaging indirectly. Edit: While an Imperial victory is a better outcome for Humanity and non-Altmer peoples, I think the chaos of a Stormcloak victory is a better story.

      Agreed wholeheartedly! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I’d much rather see a game or story that follows a Stormcloak victory due to the impending worldwide shitstorm after the fact. Far more compelling storytelling can come from it, I think

      You say that as if it woul be the other way around with an imperial victory in Skyrim. After the civil war the Empire is planning a counter-war against the Dominion. But what happens when the Empire musters all it's power against the Aldmeri for round 2? Well the same thing that happened in Skyrim last time just worse: rebels taking over cities and not enough soldiers around to fight back. Last time it was only the Forsworn, but now the remaining Stormcloaks will be around too. Even if the Empire won they will be so weakened that it's doubtful if they can keep hold of the province.

    • @NW-sm8xq
      @NW-sm8xq 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@EmhyrvarSpice According to the Stormcloak Missive, the Empire has reinforcements gathering behind the Pale Pass. They also would have won the Civil War early on had Alduin not intervened. They have the man power to keep Skyrim under control. They can bide their time before challenging the AD. Agreed that governing won't be easy but a lot of Stormcloaks will be pacified by loose enforcement of the white gold concordat. Edit: Not to mention, the Empire still controls High Rock, meaning they can contain the Forsworn from both sides.

    • @NW-sm8xq
      @NW-sm8xq 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @EmhyrvarSpice I think my response was deleted. The Empire has the manpower and the strategic advantages to keep Skyrim under control. They were going to win the war if Alduin didn't intervene. According to the Stormcloak Missive, they have reinforcements gathering behind the Pale Pass. They also have control over High Rock meaning they can attack the Forsworn from both sides in a Imperial victory. (Edit: Responding below, I'm not saying they would use High Rock to control Skyrim. I'm saying they would use High Rock to garrison troops to help keep the Forsworn under control. That's not an option for the Stormcloaks. Also, why are you assuming the Empire would immediately fight against the Dominion post-civil war? In an Imperial victory, Tullius says he's going to remain in Skyrim for a while [paraphrase]. Immediately fighting the Thalmor sounds more like Stormcloak (Galmar) idea.) Agreed it won't be easy. But it's more plausible than in a Stormcloak victory.

    • @EmhyrvarSpice
      @EmhyrvarSpice 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@NW-sm8xq I know about the missive, but all it proves is that the empire MIGHT reclaim Skyrim from Ulfric before the second war with the Aldmeri. That's not the point in time I'm talking about though. I'm talking about during and after the second war with the Dominion. At that point it's highly unlikely they still have the men to police Skyrim. And they're going NEED to if they want to keep it. Even if the Empire wins, Skyrim is still dotted with Stormcloak camps, the reach is filled with Forsworn and bandits are everywhere. It's a recipe for local warlords grabbing power. As for High Rock? Well, it's not as connected to Cyrrodil and is less strategically important for them. It's also already very decentralized and corsairs were even able to supposedly take and occupy a large wealth city without retaliation from the legions. I don't think it's going to help them hold Skyrim.

    I’m a relatively new player, haven’t finished the game, and from what I picked up so far, the leaders are nowhere near their followers. Walking around Windhelm, there is very strong and very obvious racism in stormcloak soldiers. So I thought, wow, Ulfric must be a terrible person. Then, after spending 2 minutes in his castle, he basically tells the racist commander that he isn’t racist. He doesn’t care if it’s elves or what, he only cares that normal innocent people are suffering. Walking around the imperial castle, the leaders (minus the emperor, haven’t met him yet), are just like real good guys in real life trying to make practical decisions in an imperfect world. They are trying to uphold justice and law, are irked by the Thalmor, and explains that banning Talos worship is a bandaid solution they implemented to stop a greater evil from happening. The relationship between the Imperials and its people is almost like the average shallow argument between a married couple that can easily solved by 5 minutes of conversation and willingness to compromise. Contrast that with the random imperial soldiers and the Thalmor in the world which always seem to be doing something shady (move along nothing to see here dialogue + some innocent looking dude in chains).

    The way the templars were written in 2 was awful. Last second asspull of "oh red lyrium made them craaaaaazy". If the templars had some more nuance it could have been a much more interesting moral dilemma. In DA1, you have to grapple with the potential of killing innocent people to protect civilians, or taking the risk because you have hope that some mages are still sane. The templars make sense in world. In d&d, a first level wizard can cast charm person and control a person to a degree that is terrifying. Magic is scary, and when theres the potential for a mage to get bodyjacked by demons on top of all the power they have, most people would attempt to exterminate them. Just like with mass effect, its a game that has an amazing first game, then got ruined after being under the filthy paws of EA.
