@@MarkFendy-sw7hn it has like the normal shapes if you play it like on the Sega Genesis but on the Xbox version you have quick save so you can like save before you find a boss and you die you can just do it quick reload
I certainly appreciated Origins for finally giving us the original Genesis trilogy AND CD together in one piece (plus COME ON, those Tyson Hesse animated bits are perfect in their own right), but yes, my memories with Mega Collection are part of why my early-mid teens were such a golden time for me.
I know there are better versions of the Genesis trilogy now with the drop dash, but I have strong memories of these versions. I was 10 years old when I played these in 2003
It’s crazy how this was the LAST TIME Sonic 3 & Knuckles with the lock on feature and original music was released on a home console physically. Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection for 360/PS3 had 3 and Knuckles separately but couldn’t be locked on, and Classic Collection on DS was a portable. I wanted a copy recently for that reason, and I decided to go with Plus on PS2 since I like the DualShock’s d-pad and the extra game gear games, just wish PS2 had a mono audio option for my mono CRT, every other ring sound effect is muted and it’s kind of annoying
I would personally disagree on SMC Plus's presentation being bad. The original SMC reflects on 90's aesthetic while Plus is a reflection of the 2000's aesthetic. IMO I like Plus's presentation more than the original (because I grew up with the Plus version and I'm more nostalgic to it). At the end of the day, one is not worse than the other; both of them are just different. W̶h̶y̶ d̶i̶d̶ I̶ b̶o̶t̶h̶e̶r̶ w̶r̶i̶t̶i̶n̶g̶ t̶h̶i̶s̶?̶
That’s fair honestly. I’m nostalgic for the GameCube version’s presentation and I don’t think plus’s presentation is bad by any means because it’s far from what I’d consider bad. I just prefer the aesthetic in the GameCube version
I actually like the Plus version more, especially the menu, with all the different images in the background. The menu in the basic version looks like something out of a Mickey Mouse tv cartoon for children. Way too toy like.
Ikr, I never understood the simping for the GameCube version. Besides the notoriety of classic Sonic games arriving on a Nintendo console, I don’t see why would anyone go for it. I personally had no problems with the Plus version on PS2. It’s times like this when the GC fanboys make my eyes roll
Mega collection plus will always be better than the GameCube version imo. Better menus, more games, better menu music, better extras. MC Plus is just superior, don’t let nostalgia blind you from what’s actually better
What if Mega CD and 32X never existed? While SegaSonic had normal controls? And if SegaSonic, Sonic CD, and Knuckles' Chaotix were on standalone Genesis?
fun fact sonic mega collection plus had 6 extra game gear games the other 6 are on gems collections if you have both its an easy way to have all 12 game gear games
Saying "Sonic Free" instead of 3 irks me way more than it should. You can make a whole new syllable if you just put your tongue between your teeth and just blow 😅 I try enjoyed the retrospective though.
The presentation in this video and mega collection are on point 💯🔥
❤❤❤
I considered the plus version better because you can save your game
Fair enough but you could still always just use the level selectors to play through any level you wanted too
@@FxlconPxnch well that's true let's both agree both versions have their pros and cons
So what the sonic mega collection on GameCube you can't save on!

But I love to have the GameCube version to collect someday!

@@FxlconPxnch That's good enough for me.
The plus version is better.
I mind for either one Sega mega collection GameCube or smc plus PS2/Xbox!
Just wish they put altered beast on it at least!
2:24 speaking of manuals, I've always loved the Japanese manuals because they feel so alive and full of color
So true man. I sometimes collect Japanese PS2 games I recently got MvC2 which has such an incredible looking box art and Manuel in Japan
this video brought me back to the good ole early 2000s. subbed! ☺
thank you! 💞

I'm glad i ended up with the PS2 mega collection plus!

Reading comic, music, and just having fun!
