I honestly can't thank all of y'all enough for the crazy amount of support on my last video which was my tekken 4 retrospective. It means the world to me and i'm still in shock that my last video did as well as it did in such a short amount of time which is why i decided to make another tekken video so soon. I will be uploading a variety of different retrogaming related content and just other gaming shit in general covering a ton of different games, franchises, consoles and plenty of other niche topics. Thank you all again so much for the all the support! ❤
I am glad to see someone put some respect on Tekken 2s name. My first Tekken game when I was a kid. One of the most iconic games ever and pure nostalgia. Most people just talk about Tekken 3 or 5 these days as memorable
@@FxlconPxnchForget ? I never forgot it, my first Tekken game was Tekken 2. I have three copies of it : The Arcade one on Tekken 5, the PS1 version from 1996, and the re-release of the game on the PS4.
@@FxlconPxnch I had some heated argument with a smartass zoomer with his dumbass take that T2 wasn't revolutionary. I don't know if he's trolling or just an insecure twat.
I feel Tekken 2 is the true emotional heart of the franchise at a base level. Clearly even Sakurai from smash thinks so as he chose to introduce Kazuya to the game with “emotionless passion”.
this video is awesome in Many aspects but i'd suggest going a little less crazy on the saturation since it crushes the art direction of the game (for example, the scenes with jun make her look jaundiced lol). also, if you're gonna upscale the fmvs, try not to generate extra frames for them since it makes everything look worse overall. same with stretching to 16:9. other than that this is a pretty good video, you've a lot of potential! keep at it
Haha I appreciate it man. The editing is heaps better on my newest video so if you liked the 3:42 part of this video, you’ll love the editing in this video: th-cam.com/video/YuELJbhyOnY/w-d-xo.html
Tekken 2 was one of the two games I ever saw (the other was Dino Crisis). Both mesmerized me. Tekken 2 had such a mystical, yet futuristic atmosphere. It made me become interested in martial arts, videogames and eastern culture all at once. The final stage on Arcade Mode when Kazuya's face appears on screen was SO cool. And that OST man.
Tekken 2 is the first ever game I played, it was in 98, I was three years old and I played with my parents (it was a few months before T3 which we got on release I believe). I LOVE this game so, so much. The athmosphere and music are amazing and that intro cinematic combined with its song still gives me chills to this day. Just like everything in this game it feels grand and ominous but with hope hidden behind it. It will forever be one of my favourite game of all time for that. I played way more of the following Tekken games but it's still among my favs because of everything I told before, nostlagia also helps haha. And I get you with the representation lol, we Swiss either get cliché stuff like the Tekken 6 stage (which is fun) of stuff that is so generic you can't even tell it's Swiss (like Mercy in Overwatch, who doesn't look Swiss at all and doesn't speak Swiss German but normal German). And for my other side, Uruguay, we get NOTHING, Argentina always get the spotlight even about things they didn't create or invent like the most famous Tango in the world, la Cumparsita which was written by an Uruguayan musician but since it was first recorded in an Argentinian studio they claim it's theirs... anyway, sorry for that litle rant lol
Haha don’t apologise for the “rant” bro. Reading people’s childhood stories like this is part of the reason why I’ve always enjoyed making content like this even though I don’t upload anywhere near as much as I would like to. Tekken has always been one of the few franchises that’s always been able to represent so many different cultures in its characters, stages & fighting styles. Tekken is one of the very few franchises that has good representation for my home land (Australia) 😂
@@FxlconPxnch I hope you're still proud of the work you do even if you don't upload as much as you'd like, that video was great! Yeah Roger and Roger Jr. are pretty cool :D

Tekken 1 & 2 have so many certified hood classics. The types of genres of the tracks in those games is something that’s a product of the time but yet still never gets old
You 100% should revisit the ps1 & ps2’s extensive game catalog’s but I’d either recommend playing these game via emulation on pc, get a ps3 and mod it or just get a ps2 console
subbed, really well paced genuinely funny presentation. hope to see the channel grow. i always come back to tekken 2 for the vibes; especially the ethereal, melancholic and ominous parts of the ost. great art direction + doomed character arcs and an intangible mystique helped this one age very well. later entries improved gameplay mechanics but there's a brash tone i don't feel as much. le nostalgia.
My great hope is that T8 story will feature T2 flashback fights to bring back Heihachi, revisit the One True Tekken, and to get younger skins for the legacy characters
I probably spent most of the time in Tekken 2, but I'm playing both, Tekken 1 and 2, still in 2023. Because I love to suffer. 😂 That being said, I think, if one wanna learn Tekken for real, one should start with Tekken 2.
@@FxlconPxnch since I have started with Tekken 1 back when it was released on PlayStation I‘m pretty used to it. But you are right, it can drive one crazy as hell 😂 all the best to you and your channel!

I don't know. I'm 30 and I went through all Tekken games from that era (around 10 years ago) and I really think Tekken 2 is kind of meh. Same with 4. Especially Tekken 4 feels pretty soulless. I don't really like early 2000s aesthetic too despite growing up back then.
