    Personally, I also hesitated between the ID3 (new one) and the Megane etech. I finally bought a Megane. When testing them, I preferred the reasonable acceleration of the Megane at low speed and felt uncomfortable with the strong propulsion of the id3, especially in urban environment (i use the eco mode with the Megane in cities). This is really a matter of taste. Another important point is the 22kw charger if you cannot charge at home. This is my case. But both cars are really great electric cars (but still quite expensive).

    If 0-100 is same time as ID3, and Megane is slow off the line, then ID3 must be slow where I really counts: 50-100

    Love the car but why do UK cars have a smaller info screen? This stopped me in my tracks from placing an order. Apparently Renault has said don't worry the smaller screen will have better resolution.... that doesn't help or explain why.

    • @AlbertRibas
      @AlbertRibas 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Apparently it's because of the right hand drive in UK along with the shortage of components. And that's why they would have decided, at the moment, to only produce dashboards with the 9-inch infotainments.

    Find it strange that 0-50 is so slow. When the car was launched there were some tests with journalists and they said that it was rather quick in the 0-50 range (see for example this test around 32:25 th-cam.com/video/m96pRSxI3ZA/w-d-xo.html) Did Renault adapt something in the actual production model? Going to test it out as wel in september when I go for my testdrive.

      @Tom Verleysen : as far as i've understood, this was a pre-release model. I'm not sure they changed anything. Point is this is a traction so forward wheel can easily spin with high torque. I guess Renault saw how the Kona (allmost same torque / power / weight) spin easily (see : th-cam.com/video/rapCyRFXZ_U/w-d-xo.html). good point is that wheels will have longer live with this "restriction". I'd prefe high acceleration either :p

    Harsh deceleration in ID.3 after turning off ACC is because you are in B mode, user error. Try in D mode, it just coasts until it needs to slow down with eco assist.

    • @BatteryLife
      @BatteryLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      But I want to drive in B Mode, less stepping around on the brake pedal.
      It is a preference, not User error.
      In the Megane I can be in the highest Regen and it doesn't do it.
      But I already heard that Id.3 should get that with 3.1 or 3.2 software.

    • @alladin1314
      @alladin1314 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@buddy1155 well, first I do not think the Megane is slow. 7.4 seconds is respectable. I believe it's the way Renault chose to tune the power delivery. People say that the Kona electic is zippy - but that does 0-100 in 7.6. It feels faster because of the higher torque (395 vs 300) - but it's actually not faster - that initial kick - dies off very soon while the Renault has a more linear delivery.

    • @Groaznic
      @Groaznic 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@buddy1155 just because Renault implemented this particular power curve doesn't mean that this curve is at the edge of traction. You don't know that giving a bit more low rev power would have broken traction. They have 40 and 60 kWh batteries which is very stingy vs the sibling Ariya so probably it's Renault's strategy to make it underpowered to squeeze out a couple more km of range for such a small battery.
