Draggy times feel a little pointless. Makes such a good car like that M4 seem ‘slow’ when it’s not all about numbers
well they show a cars potential to put its power on the road in the case of this car its either bad remap and the car cant put the power down or suspension tyres etc
@@liamsxa He said the remap was conservative for reliability so thats probably why its losing a few millisecs on dragy

To be fair, all this stage one stage two stage two point five is bollocks.
Modifications are just that, a car can start with an ECU remap, and then you can start with the hardware mods downpipe, fuel pump, bigger turbo's, etc, it should be that simple.
All this stage bollocks just confuses newbies, and I wish the terminology would disappear.
As for some of the comments, about the car being slow, oh dear. Why are people so obsessed about numbers on a graph ffs, especially when 90% of the people quoting them have never had a car this powerful before and probably never will. Arguing over numbers is childish.
A car is so much more than just numbers. My own car is standard, and 'only' 365bhp *shock* oh my god, how do I even cope with such a slow car !!!!!!!
The tyres (pilot supersports) are what I have on my OG M2, they are useless in the cold/damp lol, but I prefer the steering feel over PS4S in the warm/dry.
I think the stage stuff simplifies it im not sure whats so confusing about it?
Stage 1 - remap only
Stage 2 - a bit of hardware and a map (downpipe, air intake etc)
Stage 3 - upgraded turbos and hardware and a map

It's confusing because different vehicles require different hardware for the different 'stages'.
To list what has actually been done, is much clearer, and is in fact, what has actually been done, and not what 'might' have been done.
It isn't confusing to somebody who has experience, and/or worked in the motor trade for years, but it is confusing for people who don't understand what stage 1 stage 2 stage 2.5 stage 3 etc means, so to 'simplify' things, would actually be to state exactly what parts a vehicle has been modified with.

Hey Calv! Do you know if that Dyno at your event will be 4 wheel drive or 2 wheel drive? Tempted to take my Quattro Audi to be dynoed 🧨
Which Quattro system is it? It’s not advised to run non torsen Quattros on 4wd, they have dyno mode run them fwd instead to save wear.
@@AI-Records24 It is classic Quattro I believe. Audi A6 C6 2007 3.0tdi Quattro bought it couple of months ago and feels like it was previously mapped.
@@Gm-pe4te ah yes you have a torsen based system then 40:60 f/r and it does need a 4 wheel dyno! I’ve had a few of them in stock and they are really nice and fast by all accounts on the road, just heaps and heaps of torque. May I suggest a straight pipe😏and a closed intake set up, honestly they sound like Lamborghinis when done best sounding diesel out there still today! Unfortunately at the event it’ll be 2wd however you can always get the car bench tested or plugged in which can test the ecu for modification and password set up indicating it has or hasn’t been mapped😎
@@AI-Records24 Nice to know 😊 I do have some print out of a tune done on the car 4 years ago from a place that doesn't exist anymore and no figures shown. Might hold out then and wait until gearbox and diff is serviced then take it to Yorkshire tuners or Darkside developers for a proper tune 😊 Plan with with this one is to keep it stock other than a tune and maybe some little bits for the engine to get it to 300 to 320bhp. This one is A6 Avant Le Mans too 😇 Have 2 other Audis to play with exaust. A4 b7 2006 Convertible 3.2 fsi Quattro Manual - sounds fantastic at around 4k rpm (still stock) and my old A5 Coupe 2008, 3.0 Tdi Quattro Auto that development a massive oil leak and instead of doing the sensible thing and fixing it I bought my a4 cabrio then a year later wanted more space and got my A6 Avant. Now I'm trying to maintain and sort all of them and it ain't easy haha 😅

Be lucky if a remap gives you +10 hp

BMW steering wheels are shockingly bad soo thick and chunky to mask the terrible driving feel!!! If you notice Porsche have thin steering wheels so you can feel the car more…. That’s proper engineering

Pilot super sports are useless in that weather! Gave me a few squeaky bum moments in the wet.
Losers always blame their tools 😂😂 but in fairness the tyre grip failed you big time - in the dry it would have been a different story. 👏🏻👍🏻
Stages are just marketing. They're tuning packages typically sold by companies to get you buying expensive packages not just once, but multiple times. It ensures repeat custom.
Talking in torque and power figures is better usually, stages are a bit gimmicky!
They aren’t😅you can’t just wack a stage 2 map on a normal car for example. You need hardware for stage 2 and don’t for stage 1 which is generally why people talk about them in stages. I don’t even see tuning companies selling stages (except for GTR which are different than any other cars).

Stages ARE a marketing tool invented by US tuning/parts suppliers and fitters to sell you both the map and the parts in a package (hence "stages"). Look into the history of it and you'll find it's correct, otherwise I wouldn't have said it!
