My teen son was watching with me and he laughed when you pulled out your notebook because that's what I use too. I am a huge fan of notebooks; I will always buy one if it catches my attention.
Keeping everything in one place is such a great tip! Excited to see you highschool planning this year. My oldest will be in 8th grade this year, so high school is coming fast for us. Thanks for sharing!
I need to get the Brave Writer spreadsheet. That is amazing! Evaluating throughout the year is a great tip. So excited for your high school content coming up.
I have a ton of random notes on my phone and notebook papers randomly everywhere with curriculum ideas 🤣 I definitely need to put it all in one place haha I’m a pen and paper gal too!
I have a green milk crate that I keep “next years” books in as I get them from various places..then when it gets closer I see what it can be then go from there…we too love McKay’s…they need a coffee shop😂
May need to take a trip to Tennessee 🤣 it’s not too far from me. We have a used curriculum store in a lady’s house near us and she ships so I’ve gotten quite a few pieces from her, but I’d love to just go and browse. We also love thrifting. I’ve been getting a ton of curriculum this year from eBay!
@@HomeSweetHomeschoolLife we’ve only completed 3 days and I do really like the methodology of how they teach writing. However, I’m a bit worried about the video class for 2 reasons: length of class is long and if it will keep their attention week after week.
@@HomeSweetHomeschoolLife That’s what I’m thinking too, but just wanted to try SS in case the kids surprised me 😂. I have not taken the teaching class yet either so this is really giving me a good feel for it.
I love McKays! I've gotten several pieces of curriculum from there and the prices❤️ I found my son's freshman literature book for $4. And of course I've found so many science and history books for next to nothing. I love getting as many bargains as possible. Is Chattanooga's as big as Knoxville or bigger. We are hoping to get to Chattanooga in the next few weeks:) Thanks for all the great tips. I am anxious about my son going in to high school years. But I've been researching for almost 2 years and I have a top picks list as well as a secondary list just in case something isn't working.
Gather round sounds good but the “piecing more” with it in high school isn’t thrilling to me. I wish they’d put out a whole years worth, laid out for high schoolers…I’d be all over it
You are so organized compared to me haha I’m so intrigued by people who mostly unit study! I wish I could be that mom but I never manage to finish units 😩🫣
I’m so excited for high school content! I have an eleven-year-old now and high is approaching much more quickly than I’m comfortable with! 🤣
Thank you!!! My thoughts are everywhere with homeschool planning! I apply this to ease my crazy mind.
You are so welcome!
Yay for cheap spiral notebooks!!👍 Just can't beat that pen on paper!!
I kind of have an addiction to buying notebooks🤣

You can’t pass up a good notebook!
Love the spiral notebook idea. We should collab one day on the high school stuff. There aren’t many of us on here. Appreciate all your HS knowledge. 🌻
That would be so fun!
It's amazing the amount of books you can find at thrift stores. Such a good idea to have a running list! ❤️
I use that list all the time.

Thanks for watching!
I love how relatable you are.
Thank you!

That Brave Writer list is so helpful.
All the high school help would be appreciated. I have one in high school next year.
You got it!

I love the crate idea. I need to do that with our read alouds. Completely agree that they need a coffee shop.
Thank you for showing us the catalog 💙
You are so welcome!
EXCELLENT video
Thank you for sharing
Thank you!
Love seeing what you save and write down. I tend to write notes and lose them 😂 I definitely need to get an actual notebook!
Get yourself one of those real expensive $1.25 notebooks🤣
I love a good notebook too 😂 I’m a total pen and paper girl. I love all of your tips Ashlea! You’re so organized ❤
Thank you! I love all the notebooks and pens.

You would love McKay’s. I can spend hours in there checking out all the books.
Yes! Structured writing has been our struggle too. We are trialing IEW right now.
How is it going?

That is why we are trying themed based. I know my son wouldn’t be able to sit through it.

I love your notebook system :)
Thanks!

In my opinion, Chattanooga’s is the best. You really can’t beat their prices.
@@HomeSweetHomeschoolLife now I am even more excited about visiting❤️
Have you every seen the free courses Hillsdale College offers? They just came out with a Chemistry course that might pair well with GRH. :)
I have not! I will put that on my list and check it out. Thanks!
Where do I find this brave writer list you mentioned?
It is in the files of the Brave Writer Fan Group on Facebook.
Is the page protector a happy planner accessory?
It isn’t. I bought it at one of the office supply stores. It might have been from Staples, but I am not sure.
Gather round sounds good but the “piecing more” with it in high school isn’t thrilling to me. I wish they’d put out a whole years worth, laid out for high schoolers…I’d be all over it
I felt overwhelmed with it at first, but I think I have it figured out now.
What do you use for math?
We use Learn Math Fast.
You are so organized compared to me haha I’m so intrigued by people who mostly unit study! I wish I could be that mom but I never manage to finish units 😩🫣
We just recently stopped a unit because we were so bored! Sometimes, units can last too long and people start to lose interest.
