Who has the edge in Western Final between Edmonton and Dallas?

The Desharnais/Nurse pairing and the Kulak/Ceci pairing was a great move! I'll definitely give Knobs credit for that. Desharnais has grown immensely! He is elevating Nurse's game, and the same goes for Kulak elevating Ceci's game.
That was all Paul Coffey.
I believe my stars are the better team overall but under estimating any team at this point is foolish. This will be a great series. Goodluck Oiler fans!
Lets Go Stars ⭐
If anybody thinks Dallas doesn't have the edge going into WCF, they haven't been watching the playoffs this year.
Right.

Dallas has a significant advantage. I expect the Oilers to push them, but it's Stars' year. Stars in 6
I think oil in 6. Dallas being off for this long will hurt them game one. Than oilers win both at home.
@@billygordon7295 Stars in 4

The momentum is what it is, and Edmonton probably does win Game one (as did both Vegas and Colorado), but I see Dallas taking this in 6.
someone explain to me why everybody thinks dallas is a deeper team? oilers top 15 literally had 100 more pts in the reg season than their top 15 guys thats not even close.... bouchard has 2 less points than the entire dallas d core in playoffs, and thats just #2. never mind how the depth pts coming from d men comparatively. and if you look at gga vs gf oilers offence out paces that... oilers not that much of an underdog.... if the oil can keep from coughing up the puck that leads to goals and skinner not let too many weak ones itll be oil in 6

Can't wait to see how Otter and Dallas handle the Edmonton offense. This is gonna be a great WCF
DAL put on 3 defensive masterclasses against the highest scoring team in the p-off's.
then had to score 2x in o/t to wipe out the avalanche.
EDM is getting wiped out in 6 games.
The stars might have a otter in net but the oilers have two lions and a couple of polar bars to boot! Come on by’s let’s get er done!! Go oilers go!!
They have a top 5, arguably top 3 D in the league in Heiskanen.
Add an emerging Harley (imo, being an avs fan), i see him in the same lvl as Toews. Hes a top dman on most nhl teams.
Then add tanev lindell etc, on top of 4 scoring defensive forward lines and a tip 5 goalie in the league.
But you can never count out Jesus and Drai…
Won’t be a problem
@@carpartheroEDM is getting wiped out in four games*
Why do these announcers always exaggerate the goalies lol. Pickers could have probably done just as well as Skinner in 6 and 7. He wasn’t that busy and still let in at least one floater. He got hit with the right pucks.
Skinner is only good if the team plays light out in front of him.
I actually think the move for Edmonton is to start Picker for Game 1 and then Skinner for game 2 and then Picker for game 3, etc... Rotate them each game. That gives them time to rest. They're both about equally not that skilled so it makes no difference. Between to have them fresh and rested then having the same goalie play the whole series, IMO.
@@tseliteiv I agree for sure and if skinner starts in letting in the floaters like he is known to do, move to Picker. Honestly, if the team plays well, then they can perhaps win without goaltending but it's a let's see what happens deal unfortunately.
When Duchene scored in 2OT he said that Avs have better top guys than Stars but they got gassed and Dallas can roll all their lines. Avs and Oilers are very similar teams.
oilers have a bit more depth I say since avs lost Nichushkin during the 2nd round & no landeskog but it’s gonna be a great series, think edm is rewriting that book st. louis had in 2019 from worst team to cup champs so oilers in 6 or 7.
But they dont have 40% poweplay
Avs are a bit deeper even with Val gone.

Dallas is a juggernaut this year, but the Oilers matchup better with them than Canucks. Think ppl also are forgetting how Elite the top players of the Oilers have been this year in the playoffs just look at the point leaders, now their getting depth scoring as well. Their Goaltending though is still a question mark, but this is going to be a fun WCF!
The Oilers barely got past the Canucks. A young inexperienced team with key players out of their lineup. Good to be optimistic, but in reality, the Oilers aren't favoured to win against Dallas for good reason.
Oilers play in the weakest division in the league and played a brutally weak Kings team with a washed 36 year old in net and barely got by a Canucks team with a third stringer in net.
Oilers are going to be swept by Dallas or lose in 5.
They have racked up the points but neither LA nor Vancouver had as good of defense or goaltender as Dallas. They held the Avs #1 offense and best home team to 3 goals in 3 home games.
@@Joe_Ma99Yup that's pretty gross. But remember the Oilers would be first if they didn't have the start they had. From a dissatisfied Jets fan lol 😮😅😢

I'm a Stars fan, but have a healthy respect for the Oilers. It's going to be a great series between two teams that can win the Cup. My fandom aside, I do believe Dallas has the deeper team and better goaltending, but sports is fluid so let's see what happens on the ice.
I would like to see pavelksi win one
More importantly... what impact will the refs have? Lets face it. It's the guys with the whistles who control the outcomes not neccessarily the players
I completely agree with you. On paper Dallas is the better team and I would put money on that. That's the beauty of sports... anything is possible. I think its going to be a hell of a series. I can watch hockey without the stress of screaming at my Canucks.

Starting Pickard in Game 1 against Dallas would be a strategic move. This decision would motivate the team to play top-notch defense and put pressure on Skinner to perform well when he returns to goal.
Similar to the Caps when the won in 2018

There’s no way in hell Knoblauch is starting Pickard after Skinner winning two straight
@@taters1123 Both goalies need to play this series if we want a chance at beating Dallas.
OIlers fan here...Dallas is a more complete team.... tighter and far more reliable. Edmonton has leaks everywhere.....Hard to trust a team that can surrender a lead as quickly as Edmonton. And they do consistently. The D core is simply a breakdown machine~ too many jaw dropping basic errors under pressure. Dallas can handle the pressure better...I hope this series goes 6-7 games.
Oiler fan here and I wholeheartedly agree with everything you say here. MacLeod giving the puck away was a weak play, putting pressure on them. Canucks would have been shut out if it wasn't for that bonehead play, a kind of play that plagues them game in and game out. Goaltending has to show up. Go Oilers!
McCloud and one bad icing almost lost them the lead.
The thing about the Oilers is that they always have a punchers chance because of how good their first line is. Their defense stepped up and only allowed 17 shots last night. All it takes is a couple off games for Dallas, which they've shown they can do, and the series could go either way.
@@TJ_Loves2fish yep~ the oilers can play down to worse teams and play up to better teams... true. This series will spell it out!

Yea considering Paul Coffey is a 4 time Stanley Cup 3 time Norris trophy winner and played with the best players
Being an underdog is perfectly fine since at the end of the day, neither the 'experts' picks' nor previous records matter much, if not, The jets and Nucks should still prevail. No doubt about the overall depth of the Stars, but let's not forget that they do leak versus the Avalanche on couple occasions, Oilers in 7.
The Oilers finally get to be the underdogs. I doubt Skinner plays as poorly against Dallas as he did Vancouver. But if they want any chance at winning then McDavid and Draisaitl have to solve Oettinger fast.
It’s nuts that the oilers made it to wcf with Calvin pickard as there back just shows the year they are having

Wake up, Dorothy. You're not in Kansas anymore.
No thanks! 6 games is enough.
Dallas is stacked but Edmonton is my club of choice. Going to 7 games for sure.
McDavid is the powerhouse for the oilers but isn’t going full throttle because he’s still sick. If he gets better, quickly, he will be a much more formidable force to help the oilers win. The Stars have done incredibly and have shown that they are a force to be reckoned with as well. It should be quite the series. The litmus test will be game one.
Draisaitl is not mcdavid
but dallas has taken out the powerhouses in Vegas and Colorado and Oilers have taken out Kings and Canucks (missing Demko, Petterson & brock for game 7

On some nights, Draisaitl is better than McDavid.
If Dallas wins, I'm for them in the finals. If Edmonton wins, then I'm for either Florida or the Rangers.
Dallas has better depth upfront, better defence and goaltending
Edmonton has the superstar pair in McDavid, Draisaitl. If they played like they did the last two games they have a chance
Dallas might have better goaltending but everywhere else they're pretty even imo ....but they better give their goalie help, especially on the pp.
Both carrying injury & 97 possibly illness as well. Maybe they can elevate but it’s gonna be tough. Not expecting an oil upset but that’s why they play the games.

Sure Dallas has good depth but Hintz might not be available for the series. He's currently out day to day with an injury. That said the Stars are still good enough even without their #1 center.
Hintz will be playing game 2 at the latest
Dallas has the edge in goaltending but what will keep this series close is if the Stars can't stay out of the Penalty Box. Putting Edmonton on the power play it's just asking for trouble
As a oilers fan even I have to say the stars are the clear favorite
You have 5 oilers in top 5. Top Pk and Top PP. Advantage Oilers. Dallas D much weaker. But deeper forwards. It will all be up to Skinner. That is all.
It's good to read the realistic take by the Oiler fans on this thread
Dallas has the advantage. Oilers are even more top-heavy than Colorado with even shakier goaltending. I'd love to see the Oilers win, I want a cup in Canada, but I'd be surprised to see them bump off Dallas
Oilers are gonna have to play solid D to make it through Dallas. They know the goals will come so it’s gonna come down to keep in to pucks out of their net
As a Stars fan, I’m excited about this series. To be the best, you must beat the best and this Stars team has the formula to shut down high flying offenses like the Avs Knights and now the Oilers. You can’t beat what you can’t score on. Go get it Stars ⭐️
Oilers in 7
Not vs Dallas.
Dallas too old.
@user-bi6yf4hv9g um...no, they're really not. They have the NHL's fourth youngest core and the youngest of all contenders. Yeah, they may have a couple of older players, but all championship teams need veteran leadership, as well.
Oilers are getting swept or losing in 5.
😂😂😂 you guys barely beated the Canucks in the second round I wouldn't get a head of yourselfs yet.
Dallas will ride Jake Oettinger to raise the cup this year. Too good on Defense and depth to get them through.
The WCF winner wins the cup. Though I predict Oilers in 6. Every matchup is different, and the Oilers play better into Dallas than they do into LA and Vancouver (though Dallas is undeniably, significantly better than a team like LA). This series will come down to how well Dallas manages Edmonton's special teams vs. Edmonton managing Dallas' odd man rush and extended o-zone time. Goaltending for the Oilers has to be >88% this series: all 4 Dallas lines will be throwing pucks on net.
I don't know much about the nuts and bolts of hockey like the gentlemen here and the online banter but it seems the Stars have been really good since getting Chris Tanev.

Those guys have those points because the oilers came through the cellar of the western conference. The stars played last year's cup champion and the champion of two years ago. I get it that the Oilers have scored a bunch of goals, and Dallas has not scored that many. I get it that the Oilers have players that are very high in the playoff goals count and Dallas does not. But what I have not seen in all these comments is this. Edmonton came through the cellar of the west. Can any of the teams in the Oilers bracket even remotely hold a candle to Vegas, and Colorado, the previous two cup winners. I think not. I am not saying that this is going to be a cake walk for Dallas, after all, it is the playoffs. The high-flying scoring of the oilers is at an end. People for generations have said in all professional sports that "Defense wins Championships." Dallas has that. If the oiler fans think for a moment that Edmonton would have fared better going through the gauntlet against Vegas and Colorado, they would be sadly mistaken. The difference will be that Dallas has 4 lines that can score and defend, Edmonton does not. I am not going to be so misguided to think the Stars will sweep the Oilers, but I do believe they will win the series.
