@@MechanicEnergyInManifestation so? Pavelski just got 4 goals and he's 38. I'm not expecting Ekholm to be with the team for a decade, but he still shored up the defensive woes the Oilers had.
I lived in edmonton for a couples of years and definitely enjoyed it. I found myself coming back to bc only because I missed the mountains lol. But honestly I wouldn't mind moving back. It would make going to games a 100 times easier aha

We got such an amazing player in getting Mattias. So happy we have him on the Oilers! Definitely lost a beauty in Barrie though, but gotta give something to get something
I love these guys. They're both such awesome people, and I love that they are not just "OK" with living in Edmonton, but actually prefer a place like Edmonton because it's similar to home. We don't ever really see that. They are just down to Earth people, which is rare for a player of his caliber. He's also a big difference maker on defense, both with his skillset on the ice, and also off. You can tell the impact he's made on Bouchard, already. Bouchard is able to grow into the player he's built to be because Ekholm handles the stuff that Bouchard doesn't excel at. I also think Bouchard has gained some toughness as a player, which is weird.. I didn't expect that. Great interview!
From right here in the Northern circle, just a hop over the ocean to the East, I was over the moon when I heard Edmonton got Ekholm. He was and still is extremely underrated as a player. And moreover, he is exactly what the Oilers needed. And he has proven it. Still a lot of hockey left to play, but this team's something special for sure. Hope Ekholm and his family have a long and fruitful stay in Edmonton.
As a Swede watching the NHL Mattias has become more recognized and popular after the trade to EDM. But comparing Nashville to Edmonton would be similar to comparing Real Sociedad to Real Madrid. The Oilers are an institution. I'd imagine winning the Cup as an Oiler would be the ultimate hockey experience, aside from winning the Olympics. Heja Mattias!
So funny I have a swedish friend that immigrated to California, but couldn't handle the heat and moved to Edmonton. Ended up retiring in Edmonton. Some people are just built for cold.
Definitely one of the most underrated defenseman in the league. Glad he likes the city & he feels at home here! Having his veteran experience & leadership in the room has really helped our young guys like Bouchard & Broberg.
Hey Mattias, how are you enjoying playing in Edmonton? "Well there is an Ikea, so there's that" Low-key, he has become one of my favorite players on the Oilers. What a great family, welcome Mattias, I hope you find success here!!!
Just seeing this now but, hes one of my favorites on the team, opened a Tim Hortons Duo card with him on it, I don't really collect hockey card but got back into hockey this year and decided to get a few packs. So that was cool. Ive been oilers fan since 2005/6 grade 3, and with family thar lived in Edmonton too, but I love 8 hrs away so going to a game isn't and wasn't something we did, but hopefully 2024/25 season my brother and I can go he lived there for a few years and gone to a few this year.

im sorry but even I am a Edmonton person that lived in Edmonton most of my life the air isn't that great. Now come to The west coast of the Vancouver island
I disagree. Edmonton air is magnificent. I had become very nose-blind to it over the years, went away to New York for a vacation and just got assaulted for a straight week with garbage smell. When I flew back into Edmonton, the lush freshness hit me _hard,_ I had no idea my nose-blindness was hiding such a thing for so many years. It was glorious. I took in lungfuls. Maybe you just became nose-blind to it.
This guy really helped shore up a struggling defense. I'm glad to see he and his family are fitting in well.
sure but he 32 LOL

It's refreshing hearing other people happy to come to Edmonton. I love it here. Beautiful rolling plains and the northern sky keep me here.

Leafs fan here, this was so wholesome. Ekholm and his mighty beard has been a massive add for the oilers!
As an Oilers fan I instantly became a fan of this guy. Consistent steady play on ice, seems like a cool, chill friendly guy off ice

Ekholm is amazing, great deadline acquisitions this year! I hope Ekholm and his awesome family are here in Edmonton for a long time

As an Edmontonian, I love it here. I know it's my home and I'm biased, but I think it's a fantastic place to live. I also love the cold winters. :)
Outstanding interview, almost like a commercial for Edmonton as a city and as a team, the perfect match.

Lovely interview! They are both so engaging. Edmonton is lucky :)
Just a beautiful family inside and out.
The absolute perfect player for this Oilers, the missing piece of the puzzle imo
Edmonton loves the Ekholms!!

What a great dude
What he has done for the defence has been stellar. And Evan b has been the player who has enjoyed it the most
Loved having Eks in Nashville. I can also see that the accent rubbed off on him a little bit 😂. Best of luck in Edmonton, man.
You can hear a little TN twang in there, can’t you?
This was the player I was hoping holland traded for and I’m pumped he’s with the oilers. So glad holland didn’t trade for chychrun
