    Shri SL Byrappa is one of the best writer NOT just in Karnataka or India, in the world. Not many Kannadigas know, how popular he is in other states. About 30 years ago, when I was working in Pune, my co-worker, on learning that I hailed from Karnataka, immediately, talked about how wonderful the novel "Parva" is by SL Bharappa. He had read Marathi translation of "Parva".
    SL Bharappa had always always spoken his mind, truth, no matter what the consequences are (main reason why he never got Jnanpith Award) As author Will Durant said, what happened to India, after 13th century is the most violent conquest with tragic consequences, eventually reducing world's largest economy to the poorest in 600 years (as per economist Angus Maddison), partition of subcontinent, wipe out of ancient indian culture from some geography completely and sadly, Indians still do not bother to learn history and learn from it. I am very very happy that younger generation today is beginning to go beyond what the text books say (which is totally controlled by propaganda who tried to confine history of Chola, Maratha, Vijayanagara empires etc. to just 2 sentences, while giving chapter to each sultan from 13 th century) and they are the hope for a better future.

    Why should the talk about a book in Kannada be in English?

    • @sriharshanamuduri8694
      @sriharshanamuduri8694 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      So that people like me from Andhra, rest of the country are aware, read it in English ( book has been translated to English as well by Sandeep Balakrishna garu).

      @@sriharshanamuduri8694 I am sure there are more people in India who can understand Telugu than those who can understand English. Therefore, reaching people like you from Andhra would have been possible if the talk was in Telugu. My point is that it's only a small elitist cabal of ruthless indians drawn from various corners of the country who rule the roost and cruelly exclude from acquiring knowledge of English, a language of colonial oppressors who continue to enslave what English speaking Indians have for a mind, by restricting access to English medium schools only to those who can afford to send their children to expensive English medium schools. I was unemployed in India for three years mainly because I didn't speak English, not with an accent that was clipped enough. I can say by personal experience that those less than fluent in English are treated with greater humanity and respect at the University of California at Berkeley than they are at Delhi University. People at Goldman Sachs were interested in whether I could solve stochastic differential equations. People at the state bank of India were more interested in whether I knew who the Wimbledon champion was. This in a country where access to the few tennis courts that the country has is beyond the reach of common Indians. Indians are still ruled by the West. Now, it's the westernized elite who rules Indians in the interest of their Western masters. Your reaction to my comment is a testimony to the continued enslavement of English speaking Indians.

    There is no other writer as fearless erudite as Bhyrappa. His writings are so diverse that by not awarding Jnanapeetha to him the award itself has lost its gleam. He deserves the Nobel prize. But for obvious reasons they won't!

    Read this one about 5 years back and felt cheated by the history that was taught to us in schools. Also feel bad that the inhabitants of India irrespective of their religion don't have a clue of what their history was.

    A very poignant and hard hitting book. The novel within the novel dealing with the travails of the Rajput prince only scratches the surface of the painful genocide of Hindus.
