    What tyre do you guys run on the wagons? Size??

    • @AllTerrainAction
      @AllTerrainAction  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey mate, we are running 225/70/16 on the main Adventra just under 29" rolling, legal size for our vehicles, and it seems to give us enough clearance for the most part.

    After the turn around I was sitting here saying come on go go. Everyone made it back to camp so has to of been a good day.

    • @AllTerrainAction
      @AllTerrainAction  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Was definitely a long day! As you say though we all made it back to camp with nil loss or damage so as you say you can’t really ask for much more than that. Glad you enjoyed the video Keith!

    Had a similar experience recently. Only had 2 max trax. Both of us bogged very close to the water, everyone panicking. Luckily the other guy was a bit worse off so most people went to help him, I was able to start trying a couple things in peace. At one stage apparently only my front wheels were spinning. I’m used to the back ones spinning but I wasn’t sure what to do in that situation? Then I dug my back wheels in. I put the max trax under the front wheels and I got myself out by using the handbrake trick and slowly applying more accelerator and the front finally grabbed and I was out. Reversed back out a bit where there was a bit more room before turning around. Would love to join you next time your in SA.

      That’s great, make sure to be on our Facebook group so when we’re making plans to come back to SA your well ahead of the schedule to drop by a campsite or hang out for a day while we are touring! Cheers

    Hmmm , Is this the no active traction control system in reverse for Chris as I previously eluded to in a previous post 🤔

    • @AllTerrainAction
      @AllTerrainAction  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No there definitely is, but there was little chance for me to reverse where I was trying. In event of 100% throttle or any brake intervention BLD crosstrac systems are not active. That’s why throttle controllers help a great deal on these older vehicles as it’s curves off the angle on the throttle and as long as you don’t foot to the floor you will get brake locking diff operations. There was little chance without full open throttle in reverse for me to climb what I was doing.

      Yeah was only a few feet away on some waves, was making me anxious but was super confident in the plan we had so I was fairly confident we would get out - id we didn’t have 4 boards though I’d have probably been quiet worried. Reason why I carry 4 always. They have served us well in almost all self recovery process.

    What's the difference between yours .silver and the white ond

    • @adventureawaits_aus
      @adventureawaits_aus ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That’s a video in itself to explain so many differences. The main channel adventra is pretty much the max you can mod without spending stupid amounts of money and it’s pretty much at a really good spot at the moment. The white one is second modified for capability and the silver one seen in this video just started with light mods and lift. Have to do a full video sometime.

  • @DRIBBL3R
    @DRIBBL3R ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Lol I know that moment of concern 😮 and I was by myself with the water only a meter away. Staying calm and using the recovery gear is all you can do. 2 maxtraxs and a shovel did the job.

    • @AllTerrainAction
      @AllTerrainAction  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah honestly I’d almost go no where near the beach if I’m alone, but in saying that been equipped, good low tire pressures and sensible tracking with a purpose of getting somewhere and the beach is the shortest route I’d probably go as long as I had a passenger. Some people don’t really realise how much fatigue builds from recoveries especially if digging sand and getting in and out placement of tracks, mental and physical state takes a toll quickly and if you have a tide coming in, your likely effected by rushing and are likely to make mistakes. All part of the fun though, good experience can go along way. I think we all can be guilty of hindsight later on, glad we didn’t total the Adventra this time round!

    My worst was my partner and I were travelling along a gravel track at about 60 odd and the ground disappeared like a wombat hole and we were bouncing around like a jumping Jack bashed user the car quite well but not enough to to need repair.

    • @AllTerrainAction
      @AllTerrainAction  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah we’ve done this in the night all the lights in the world, but a long hole in the ground goes noticed until too late. 😂

    When I was new to 4WDing I saw TD Jeep Cherokee without a snorkel plough straight into a creek I was checking the depth of and I decided against it and I had a snorkel, he killed a brand new Diesel engine 😢

    There is only 1 comment i have for you guys: Drop your freakin TYRE PRESSURES !
    You could go as low as 7 - 10 psi to get you outta trouble anything to keep your vehicle getting a free salt bath ! Also dont forget to turn Traction Control off when driving on sand !

    IMO a max trax for every wheel of every vehicle is pretty much a must in those conditions.
    Max Trax boardwalks are awesome for maintaining traction/momentum.
    My worst experience was in Canunda with little experience, bog stock vehicle and listening to someone I shouldn't have.
    Went on to one of those beaches with a drop off and got stuck right on the edge with the waves a couple of feet away.
    Fortunately had 4 Trax and the vehicle is pretty good in sand so we got away with it.......just.
    Won't be doing it again nor letting anyone else sway me if I don't feel like doing something with my vehicle.

    What tyre pressures you running? I'd be going down to 8psi for that bit where the blue car got bogged. Beads on KO2s are very tight. Sand that soft I'd be running around 12 normally.

    Those beaches are a trap for beginners.....beaches and salt lakes are deadly.

    That section of sand is a bastard. That’s the only place on the limestone coast that my Iveco Daily 4x4 came close to bottoming itself out. Had to go down to low low and use that 101:1 ratio for the 1st time ever and tyres down to 15psi and it clawed its way out the hole like a monster. The sand there is both heavy but uncompacting and is more like a liquid to drive on IT SUCKS!

    If you don't have real 4wds with clearance on those beaches you will lose vehicles!

    • @AllTerrainAction
      @AllTerrainAction  ปีที่แล้ว

      You’d be pretty upset to learn the “real” 4wds that did have clearance on this trip are the ones who struggled the most. In saying that there is some level of both vehicle and driver qualities that make or break situations like these. We do well for what we have.

  • @adventuros
    @adventuros ปีที่แล้ว

    Not sure why you didnt turn it around on the track knowing the adventurer would struggle on the soft sand again. Not sure if it was done through poor decisions or just for the video content

    • @AllTerrainAction
      @AllTerrainAction  ปีที่แล้ว

      Can see how that could come across, I didn't have any issues coming up the first time I really didn't expect to get caught up down the bottom but the built track that was made after caught us by surprise. In hind sight was a poor decision as you say, hopefully many will learn from my mistake.

    • @adventuros
      @adventuros ปีที่แล้ว

      Considering the adventurers lack of clearance I would have thought you'd know to keep away from the wet sand there. Having driven robe/beachport/canundra many times, going down the beach is always a bad idea. Wven the seemingly soft sand up near the dunes is nearly always firmer than the wet sand.

    • @AllTerrainAction
      @AllTerrainAction  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@adventuros how much clearance do you think the Adventras have? Just curious, how much clearance do you think the 4T GVM upgraded troppy has? I’m also curious how much you might think our other Toyota Fortuner had with 32s? The main channel Adventra actually boasts 280mm true clearance to lowest point, our Fortuner had 240mm front and 230mm rear to the lowest point on the diff pumpkin, troopy well and truly has less than what the Adventra has when full air up - sometimes I think people get body clearance confused with diff clearances, adventra boasts quite a lot more due to its independent suspension not trying to have a go but if the argument is clearance in comparison to the 4wds we had on deck the adventras definitely come out on top here.

    • @adventuros
      @adventuros ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AllTerrainAction diff clearance isn't everything and definitely not the most important on sand, approach, ramp over and departure are very important on that stretch as there are many spots where it gets rutted and pothole, where body gets caught up. Not saying the adventura can't do the track or anything like that, but I meant it was silly to try run it down to the water on the beaches there. Even cars with bog clearance and big wheels get stuck Dow in that ultra soft stuff.

    • @AllTerrainAction
      @AllTerrainAction  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@adventuros yeah fair explanation, was not supposed to run right down incase it seemed that way in the video tracks down were that deep I couldn’t power out on the turn going down, but that again was a poor expectation that I could have given how deep they where (considering I just dug them out for the other vehicles, on the way up), certainly would never want to intentionally want to go that close to the water - main point I’m trying to make it was definitely not for content, result of poor decision making at the time but resulted in the content been entertaining (for some I guess). Cheers for been genuine and not just been so negative about it though. 🍻
