Hey why did you drill 2 different size holes and does it matter which you drill smaller and which gets the bigger drill bit? Just wondering everyone else recommends using the same size holes on the bottom of the PCV's!

Who would have thought it was as simple as the coolant system needing to be rebleed. You just ran the engine for 20 minutes without the radiator cap on until the air bubbles were all gone!

I was part of the team that made the tooling for many of the plastic components in your video. Part of the reason I love adventras is that nostalgic feeling! Loving your videos 👌

To be fair, there are far too many people damaging the forests. Leaving rubbish. There are lots of people doing the right thing, but it’s the clowns that ruin it for everyone. The off road community needs to lead by example and call out bad behaviour. Develop caretaker groups who volunteer to go out and care for tracks. It’s what groups like the Surf Rider Foundation did in their infancy. Restoring dunes, promoting better track use, seeking funding for beach facilities to prevent environmental damage. It was a proactive approach. It was an organised approach. Not a militant one.

It's best not to pour cold water over a hot engine. You might crack or warp something. Also, the two gaskets between the coolant outlet pipe and the engine often leak (I've replaced mine once, and in checking just now, it looks like I have some seepage stains, so I'll have to replace them again soon). These gaskets can be a cause of a lot of head scratching because the coolant gets evaporated when they start leaking, and you probably won't notice them until they're really leaking a lot. If you need to take the intake manifold/plenum off for some reason, it's often a good idea to replace these gaskets while you're in there, for peace of mind. Edit: I forgot to add... I always carry a large pipe wrench in the car to get the radiator cap off. It literally stays in my car all the time.

Regarding air conditioning gas... ONLY use the gas stipulated by the manufacturer! Back when Holden was still building VE, I was their HVAC and powertrain cooling warranty engineer for a few years, and the question about the alternative gas came to me because someone wanted to use it to get a customer out of trouble for a while and the dealer had no gas to charge the A/C system. I did a few minutes of investigation and found a possible material incompatibility issue other than the PAG oil incompatibility (sorry, my confidentiality agreement means I can't give any details, but nobody in their right mind wants the potential problems that it could cause). I can't speak for VZ (there are significant differences between VZ and VE), but for VE, you could end up with a very costly repair bill, and it would be your own fault for using the wrong gas. Sure, some people might've done it and managed to get away with it (at least for a while), but it really isn't worth the risk. I'll reiterate: DO NOT use the alternative gas! Always use the correct gas. It really is worth spending the extra money getting a licensed A/C technician with the correct equipment to do the job. I hope this helps. 🙂

There are a lot of examples of bad seam sealing on all VT-VZ. Through the wiper cowl as well as the external parts you showed. It’s like who ever did was not watching and having a chat to someone as the seam sealer gun was flowing the gunk out. See it at wreckers a lot. Have experienced it myself as well. It’s what got me looking for it.

Something that in reality is such an easy fix, however until you discovered it everyone was chasing a different remedy
