Robin's nest time lapse August 9. Hawk attack!

  • Dramatic day. Hawk finds Robin's nest and gets away with one chick. Second chick jumped out of the nest after hawk was gone. It was found shortly after the fall and put back in the nest.

    4:43 birdnap happens. 5:33 2nd baby bird put back in nest. Hopefully 2nd baby survives

      The second chick survived. Left the nest couple days later.

      We weren't sure before we watched the video if second chick was out of the nest because of hawk. He didn't look mature enough to leave the nest. This year chick left the nest much later.

      Sergei Maslov Oh shit my bad. Yeah the second chick fell out because of the bee stinging it. Good you put it back in there since the nest was right there at eye level.

      Maybe it did but didn't see anything in the nest and left for good.

      Robins in general are dumb. Parents will literally witness a predator raid the nest completely and they continue revisiting as if the predator will just come back and shit the chicks out in their prior form.

    I don’t mess with nature, I saw 2 baby birds on the ground in my front yard. I didn’t do anything to save it.

      yes, chick stayed in the nest for couple more days before leaving for good.

      It's impossible to tell. Robin's chicks leave the nest in a couple of weeks before they can fly. Parents continue to feed them until they can fly. I saw second chick couple times running around in the tall grass in the back yard, but if I tried to get close, parents would get very concerned and start bomb diving me.

    so sad to see them loose their little ones, it's just as devastating to them as it is to humans, they freak out and they mourn the loss. So happy you found the one that fell out before the hawk did.
