Three eggs. One never hatched. One chick was stolen by a crow. Another survived and left the nest on May 29.

Dramatic day. Hawk finds Robin's nest and gets away with one chick. Second chick jumped out of the nest after hawk was gone. It was found shortly after the fall and put back in the nest.

I don’t mess with nature, I saw 2 baby birds on the ground in my front yard. I didn’t do anything to save it.

Robins in general are dumb. Parents will literally witness a predator raid the nest completely and they continue revisiting as if the predator will just come back and shit the chicks out in their prior form.
That means there’s still 20% room for improvement to go for predators

It's impossible to tell. Robin's chicks leave the nest in a couple of weeks before they can fly. Parents continue to feed them until they can fly. I saw second chick couple times running around in the tall grass in the back yard, but if I tried to get close, parents would get very concerned and start bomb diving me.

Maybe it did but didn't see anything in the nest and left for good.

so sad to see them loose their little ones, it's just as devastating to them as it is to humans, they freak out and they mourn the loss. So happy you found the one that fell out before the hawk did.

I don't think birds have the capability to mourn like humans. Their instinct is to just keep reproducing. No feelings attached.

We weren't sure before we watched the video if second chick was out of the nest because of hawk. He didn't look mature enough to leave the nest. This year chick left the nest much later.
