    have been wanting to do this since I first bought my 2012. I looked for a year for an X model, but there were none close to me at all! I was thinking of getting the hubs in red to add some contrast to all the blue. just worried it will look kinda funny.

    I never thought about just buying WR250X fork guards, that's a good idea as when you get to the point where you want to sell the bike you can restore it to stock and make a little more cash selling the Sumo kit individually. I was wondering where you purchased the warp 9's from ? If you order it from their site will it come with everything ? Also if you are installing the 320mm front rotor is there anything else you need to do during the process ? I still haven't watched the whole video yet so sorry if you have already answered the questions !

    you seem like a guy that knows the answer to this: how can I lift the rear up? the tail, I need it higher, like...is there a longer shock I can buy? or should I solder a support for the bottom of the shock hook?

    • @tweakmaster32
      @tweakmaster32  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would not do anything beyond maxing out the factory adjustment for shock height on the bottom clevis. Any more than that will change the geometry of the bike and affect handling.

    • @elmerluzero3puertastechito501
      @elmerluzero3puertastechito501 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      tweakmaster32 it doesn',t adjust height, all it does, is make the shock stiffer, which reduces suspension...

    • @tweakmaster32
      @tweakmaster32  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a preload adjustment which is the amount of tension on the spring for your weight which you use for the ride height when loaded, not to raise or lower the seat height. For that there is a bolt on the bottom of the shock shaft which mounts the clevis to the linkage. This changes the static length of the shock. It does not change travel, rather the seat height. I believe it adjustment range is 1".

    Great video. Question: When putting warp 9 sumo wheels on my wrr, will the stock front brake bracket work? I want to run it through the inside and I plan on getting wrx fork guards. Will my brake bracket just transfer right over to the wrx fork guards?
    Edit: My bad, just realized you did use the same bracket.
    But if that's the case, why do I see so many people running the brake line to the outside? I also see the zeta straight bracket... what's the point of all that?

    • @tweakmaster32
      @tweakmaster32  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      if you do not have the "X" model fork guards you need the straight zeta bracket so you can run the brake hose on the outside of the guard to clear the tire. The stock bracket is curved to the inside which makes it impossible to run the cable on the outside if you had to.

    • @tweakmaster32
      @tweakmaster32  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      well, its patience to slip the fatter tire in between the swingarm, chain guide and caliper the right way so it goes smoothly. I have done it no issue many times except when making a video of course. Just finesse the tire in at an angle between the chain guard and the inside of the swingarm and avoid knocking the caliper sideways and jamming it up. That's where I fouled it up. Be careful on the caliper side not to scratch the rim on it.

    hi, i was recently looking at warp 9 wheels for a wr250r but i can't find the set-up with the stock brake rotor size,? did you buy a stock brake rotor size separately? and they do not sell the rear with a 43 tooth sprocket only the 44, was that also bought separately? also not same size for brake rotor for the rear ,when on the warp 9 website

    • @tweakmaster32
      @tweakmaster32  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would call warp 9. Their website may only list the most common setup and most likely the confusion is direct swap vs conversion. I looked and the options are not there to mix and match. The front rotor I have is a warp 9 and has A89-2250 printed on it. The rear rotor is A89-2230 and the sprocket says 520-43 but I see no other number on it to indicate Yamaha fit. These are all Warp 9 parts so you may need to call the to get exactly what you want. I purchased mine here- motoxindustries.com/ so the part finding was already done for me.

    why did u buy the speed healer when you have a GPS unit on the bike?

    • @MitchelCosta
      @MitchelCosta 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you don't the bike thinks you are going faster than normal, thus you end up racking up the mileage that you really never drove. In modern cars this is fixed by a sensor in the tranny, but I don't believe Yamaha put that in their WR's... I could be wrong though, but in general that's why you would want to change the speedometer to match accordingly.

    • @tweakmaster32
      @tweakmaster32  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it will also get thrown off when you change the tire size. The SM tires are a smaller diameter so the speedo will reflect a higher speed than you are actually going. Both factors, tire diameter and gearing will affect your speedo accuracy.

      honestly given the choice I would take the 250R over the X any day. The "R" can go anywhere and do anything including street. The "X" can't do dirt. The only reason I have the street setup for my "R" is that I have a few dirt only bikes and can use others for my off-road adventures. If I only had one machine in the garage it would certainly be the "R" because it does it all. I am pretty much guessing that's why Yamaha only sells the "R" version in the US at this time because most feel this way.

      What about a 2008 WR250F? Would that be a good candidate for Supermoto? The light kit is only $170.

      Well, the WR-F is a completely different animal. Nothing is even similar to the WR-R. The first hurdle is to get it registered and tagged. The light kits are pretty simple to install and the WR-F does have an electrical system, I've done a few in my day. The biggest drawbacks with the WR-F is the service interval on the motor and the off road oriented transmission. Will it be a lot more fun ? ohhh yes absolutely. But you will never get close to the 20,000 mile mark with almost zero maintenance on the engine like I have on my WR-R..ever. It's all about fun vs cost and really based on what you want out of it. One thing, if you go the WR-F route the 450 would be a much better choice for an SM.

      Just scared the 250 won't have the power. Tops out at like 60. The 450 I think would be better but it is not as flickable.

    why isnt the wr250x abaliablr

      not sure really sure why the wr250x is no longer available but i have a pretty good idea. Most likely the street tire equipped version was not selling as well as the true "dual purpose" "R" model, at least here in the USA. Sales numbers drive all of those decisions.

      Sirinterius probably not as the cbr wheels are thicker

      Sirinterius possibly im not really sure about that one

      don't know about the wr125x as I've never seen one, its not available in the US. On the CBR wheels they sure wont bolt on. Even on similar bikes of same brand you need to have the same axle size, the correct spacers and even at that you have some very serious modifications ahead of you even if you can make it work.

      Funny. Here in UK WR250R version is not available any more. But X version is still selling.
      Watching your video to convert X to R. Is suspensions same on both?

    how tall are you?

      about 5'6" . I can touch the ground comfortably with the SM tires. With the dirt wheels that extra inch doesn't make it too much worse. I have the adjustable rear shock clevis set to its lowest setting and the fork tubes raised about 1/2" above the clamps. Stock the bike is a skyscraper but you do have some tweaks to help.
