    Mate youve really turned that WR into an adventure beast! Props to you and it obviously goes well from what ive seen in the videos!

    • @chroniclesofsolid
      @chroniclesofsolid  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks mate! Yer she is pretty close to perfect for me. Only things left to look at is the suspension to fine tune it and maybe some wind protection :-D Though I am sure I will find more things to add as time goes on :-P
      How is the riding in Tasmania? Must be epic/technical with the scenery you guys have?

    • @iRidetas
      @iRidetas 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lol i hear you there is always some thing to play with and modify! I put a small shield on the XR i have for longer trips and it certainly helps a lot. The riding in Tasmania is amazing and as you said epic, scenic and as technical as you want. It FAR exceeds my skills at times!! I could reccomend it to anyone! :D cheers

  • @thealvaco
    @thealvaco 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Nice bike man! I think the rear sprocket wil do very little to help with the chainrubber. For optimal result you have to put a bigger front sprocket on the bike, which is a terrible idea for obvious reasons. I have similar problems with my honda crf 250 L. Shittiest problem is you have to take the swingarm of the bike to replace the chainrubber. I did so on my V strom and it sucked.

    • @chroniclesofsolid
      @chroniclesofsolid  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yer it is a pain in the arse to swap it over. I chickened out and got it swapped out by the shop on its last service :-P

    • @thealvaco
      @thealvaco 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I get that. I wanted to do it myself since I had alot of free time. Ended up drilling the rear brake master cilinder off, almost cracking the exhaust, and I had to replace the swingarm and link bearings which were a pain to get out. Took me weeks.

    • @chroniclesofsolid
      @chroniclesofsolid  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well done for doing it yourself though. I chickened out because I couldn't afford to replace anything I would break :-P

    Nice work mate. I have done most everything you have except the bigger sprocket but thats just because i have not got around to it yet. An excellent no BS SENSIBLE vid without the fluffy macho grandstanding ! My wr is still running great. Im getting 500+ k's from my ims tank on the highway unloaded up . No mileage anxiety is a big plus in Oz. What tyres do you run ?

    • @chroniclesofsolid
      @chroniclesofsolid  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Brian,
      Nice to know the IMS can go that far. I have not had a chance to run it dry yet. You are right, having no fuel anxiety is a big plus for adv in OZ, one less thing to worry about. Currently I am running Pirelli MT21's front and back, pretty decent tire thought they wear a bit faster than the D606. Before that I had Trailwing on the back and Dunlop D606 up front.

    Great video cos. In the process of modifying my wr250r. I agree there's no need to do the whole removal of AIS and adding fuel tuners etc. I've added a Barretts pipe, Force rad guard, bash plate, D606 tyres. Next is to add a gear rack on the back (which Barretts do also). My brother and I are heading up the east coast (and back down to Tas) of Oz towards the end of year, and hope to do some sand riding at Stockton Beach (Newcastle). Will definitely invest in an IMS tank. Did you install it yourself, and if so, was it easy for a non-mechanical person like me to do? Cheers.

    • @chroniclesofsolid
      @chroniclesofsolid  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Greg,
      Sounds like you got your WR well sorted out :-) Yes the IMS was not too difficult to fit (I had already fitted the Safari prior). The job is made easier with a second pair of hands. IMS have a good step by step on their website but it is a good idea to cross reference that with Safari's guide also on their website. Both installations are almost identical until the breather hose (I kept the safari breather hose system in the end). This thread really helped me visualise the process www.thumpertalk.com/forums/topic/702003-safari-tank-for-wr250r-review-install-photos/
      Good luck on your adventure trip,
      COS

    • @gregorynield9347
      @gregorynield9347 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks COS. Much appreciated. Giving it some thought, the Safari tank would probably be more suited for me as I don't tend to do big trips and venture too far away from fuel stations. Plus I like the idea of having more clearance around the Force rad guard. Thanks again matey. Just found your COS channel and am really enjoying it. Thanks again.

    I'm the proud owner of a new WR250R. I was planning on switching out the rear sprocket to a 45 tooth as you did. Can I get away with keeping the same chain? Since it only has about 100 miles on it I'd like to keep it if possible. Great videos. And "cheers" from the USA. Rick

    • @chroniclesofsolid
      @chroniclesofsolid  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      G'day rick,
      Congrats on the new bike! The one issue you might have with using your existing chain is that going up teeth usually requires extra links in the chain. I have heard of guys not needing to this with the 45 tooth, but it is worth checking it out just in case.

    • @ricklieberson5576
      @ricklieberson5576 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the quick reply. I'll do a bit more research but might end up just ordering another chain with the appropriate number of links.

    • @chroniclesofsolid
      @chroniclesofsolid  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No worries Rick. From what I read, some guys were able to keep the original chain with 109 links but some others found the had to go to 110 links. There was no clear answer to which way was the better option, so good luck!

    Hey COS. have WR250R also. Does that GYTR silencer let you keep XUP valve on exhaust? Try some wide foot pegs. Put them on mine and love them. More comfortable for feet. Nice blue too. Also mounted LED light, 2500 lumens beside headlight on triple clamp. Wow what a difference at night and people notice in daylight too. Great videos.

    The WR250R looks nicely set up. Never heard of rimlocks so made a note of these. Do you find that you are riding the BMW less and less, witht the Yamaha fulfilling most of your riding needs - or does the BMW still get a lot of bitumen time?

    • @chroniclesofsolid
      @chroniclesofsolid  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yer the WR sees most of the action. The BMW does the commuting to save tires on the WR. The BMW also does the two up touring job. Recently I was faced with the decision to have to sell one of my bikes. The BMW was the one to go, no contest. I will get another big adventure bike further down the road :-) But I cannot live without a light weight dual sport in the garage :-D

    Hi Chroniclesofsolid, what tyres do you use on your WR and why? I do lots of commuting and some Adv rides on the Weekends thinking about putting Mitas e07 120/80 on the rear and something a bit more aggressive to the front maybe Dunlop 606. Currently have mt 21 front and 606 rear... feels like a bit overkill for day to day commuting.

    • @chroniclesofsolid
      @chroniclesofsolid  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Alex, like you I have been through a few sets. Obviously started out with the stock trail wings. Then I went D606 front and trail wing rear. I am now on MT21's front and rear. I will probably go D606 rear and MT21 front next.. I have what I have because I do a far bit of road/hwy to get to the dirt or between dirt on big multi-day rides. I wanted something aggressive enough to do single track/mud/sand but have enough life not to wear after a few thousand km's. I do not do regular commuting on mine but if I did I would probably go the Mitas e07 as well. I have heard good things about the e07, the K60 scouts seem to be popular as well.
      Sorry I cannot offer further insight on commuting tires for the WR. Let me know how you go as I bet this question will come up again :-)

    Do you advise against a d606 on the front? Are you still riding the WR? Any changes since if so?

    • @chroniclesofsolid
      @chroniclesofsolid  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Tires is one of those things where it is personal preference so keep that in mind. I went to Pirelli MT21’s front and back and never looked back. I found them much better in the dirt but you do sacrifice a bit of on road longevity but not by much. Nothing wrong with going with the D606, plenty love them. YMMV

      +Jarrod Beckett Thanks Jarod,
      Not sure on the brand of the fender eliminator, my dealership just chucked it on there. Yer still running the original lever but I adjusted it up a bit to allow me to use an mx boot comfortably. Just undo the bolt that holds the lever on, slide it off the gear shaft and reposition to your liking 👍

      rodgee thinking my next cheapy mods are gona be wider foot pegs and a longer gear lever.
      oh and if ya have any tips on tyres!
      s.o.s im thinking the michelin t63

    • @chroniclesofsolid
      @chroniclesofsolid  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have not tried the T63's but have heard positive reviews. So far I have used the Pirelli MT21's and Dunlop D606's. Both pretty good tires, MT21's perhaps a bit better in mud/sand but the D606's last longer. Probably going to go back to D606's just to refresh my memory on how they performed and then possibly going to try a combo of the two soon. MT21 front and D606 rear and see how that turns out.

    coming from wr 125 cuz eu laws , can u drive this bike for long distances whit the speeed of 100kmh/120kmh whit out too much problems would get 450 but price is a problem well i mean maybe like 500km trips or something like that not too many times a year

    • @chroniclesofsolid
      @chroniclesofsolid  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did a 1000km trip end of last year with the WR250R. Ended up having to do 600km of that at 110kmh in strong winds. The stock gearing meant I could not pull 6th, but I could in 5th. Without a strong wind it would do 110kmh without a problem. It easily gets up to 140 for overtaking in the right gear. I did change the gearing to a 45 tooth rear sprocket and now it has no problems at all in strong wind in 6th gear.

      and also whats the difference between 250r and f i dont see any 250r being sold here

    • @chroniclesofsolid
      @chroniclesofsolid  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The only thing in common between the two is the name and the colour. They are completely different bikes, different engine, chassis, suspension etc. The WR250F shares more in common with a KTM 250EXC than it does with a WR250R. The WR250R is a dual sport made to do both road and dirt, importantly having a subframe for carrying luggage. WR250F is an enduro bike made to be as good as it can be in the dirt without compromise, thus making it not very good on road. The R has a low power engine requiring very long service intervals, where the F requires regular maintenance because of its hi stress engine.
      The R is better at adventure rides, the commute and regular trail riding with some technical trails. If you want performance above everything else go the F.

    • @chroniclesofsolid
      @chroniclesofsolid  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yer the 08's had a fuel pump that over heated if fuel was low. It was sorted out by 09. I doubt it, if you did have the original 08 bad fuel pump the issue arises when the fuel pump is above the fuel level in the tank. That problem would continue to exist with a safari/IMS imo.
