    I KNOW WHERE THE VOLKSWAGON IS FROM, I live in Sanford, Florida on Lake Monroe, this dude pulled his car up to the lake during the day time, and shot himself, the car sat there for hours, this happened quite a few months ago and was fairly recent. Same car, same color. About less than an hour away from that auction.

      Yeah that would make sense. It looked like brain blood matter in too of the steering colum and then I saw your comment and said hey that would add up.

      Suicide car is definitely what I would suspect based off of the bits on the gauges and the blood all over the door jam tags in the other photo

    I bought a beautiful mercedes e320 that was a suicide car. Complete with bullet hole in headrest Cleaned up well. It was a 2001 with only 49k miles. I was curious if it was elderly owned. Still was a sad car. I never felt good driving it. Sold it after just a few months

      @JoesGoldenGarage 7 ปีที่แล้ว +81

      It was an easy sell. I of course never mentioned it. I just replaced carpet and headrest. Most of the blood was confined to drivers side area but I gloved up and actually used bleach mixed with water to clean the surfaces Then conditioned the hell out of the leather and center armrest. I would have just deep cleaned the light grey carpet but most of the blood and discharge went between drivers seat and center console armrest. That’s when I decided to get new carpet. Well actually used from flea bay

    This reminds me of my 1989 Chevy pickup I bought in 2009. The previous owner was driving home from work when the truck quit running. He got out of the truck, opened the hood, then decided to walk across the street. As he was crossing the street a van hit him and killed him instantly. So he didn't die in the truck, but only a few feet from it and directly as a result of it breaking down.
    I bought it from through his nephew who was the executor of the estate. Turned out the fuel pump went bad. I put a new fuel pump in and drove it for a couple of years until the engine spun a bearing.

      You asked for comments, so here it is. What's the big deal, house's and property get sold without the disclosure of prior deaths or murders within them,why not car's?
      That is unless you are someone that actually believes in ghosts or spirit's.
      If cleaned and repaired correctly it shouldn't make any difference to the next owner, unless they are superstitious.
      Especially with some of the super car's and even higher priced newer models selling for as much as a small house in some areas.

    I will always stay away from bloody bio-hazzardious vehicles, because it wouldn't feel right selling a car like that to someone, even if cleaned up. I wouldn't keep it for myself either, because I'd always remember the bullet holes, blood, gore...Etc, which is not a very comforting feeling when trying to drive. Just the thought of sitting in the seat where someone potentially was murdered, is creepy.

  • @superone8533
    @superone8533 7 ปีที่แล้ว +20

    Hey Sam, big fan of your videos. I buy flood / bio hazard (mold) cars because I convert them to race cars. Everything that could mold in a car isn't part of a race car anyway so it all goes in the dumpster. That way I'm not paying for an interior that I then dispose of. I recently bought a 2008 Cayman S with only 18,000 miles on it for $8,300. Copart still managed to screw me though. They just don't seem interested in making your vehicle purchase a pleasant experience.
    You should do an video on the car carrier/broker scam too.

    • @Samcrac
      @Samcrac  7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I'm doing a video on transport very soon!

    • @superone8533
      @superone8533 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thats good to hear. My transport woes started because you can't find a carrier, as opposed to a broker, from out of state. They all quoted $850 so it didn't make sense to run my own truck and trailer all the way to Texas to pick up the car. After the 5 day Copart limit the car still hadn't been picked up and I found out that all these brokers were doing was posting my car on truck stop broker screens. Everyone wants you to sign a contract and pay their fee so they can post it like everyone else. Now desperate to get it out of Copart I had to pay $1,100 to get it on a truck that was already on site. For half that money I could have sent one of my employees to get it.
      So first Copart screwed me, then the car carrier industry screwed me. What started out to be a fun winter project (and next years race car) has turned into an expensive nightmare. I have no idea where the car is or when it will get to Albany, but I just don't care anymore.

    A 2013 2500 Silverado HD crew cab long bed mint condition work truck came in with the seat missing, a couple panels and the seat belt cut out. It was an older male that committed suicide in the car and the daughter wanted to restore it and keep it as a last memory for her father. We changed the carpet, rear driver side window (bullet went through seat and out through that window), and installed a new driver seat, also cleaned up any blood left over. And the missing panels and seat belt was installed too.

    This reminds me of a story you guys are prolly gunna like. My mom and grandpa ran a few Dollar Rent-a-Car franchises as the family business for a very long time.
    One day, they rented a brand new Chevy Celebrity out to a young man with two kids. The guy, who was married, recently split up from his wife (it was her decision, he wasn't very happy about it). One day, he took the rented Chevy over to his wife's house, parked in the driveway, and blew his brains out with a shotgun. Inside the car.
    My mom and grandpa took the car back to the shop, cleaned all the blood, brain matter, and tissue out of the car, changed out the carpets, and rented the car back out to more people for years.

    I realize this is an old video, so nobody will probably read this comment....
    But I work for a major auction (not a strictly salvage auction), and have had six or seven death cars come in since I've worked there. It's surprising how many enterprise cars we get in that somebody chose to kill themselves in.

    I bought a vehicle from Copart not long ago with typical repairable damage to the exterior and a clean title. It was also marked as a bio, but only blood was on the passenger door, and not very much. A pair of gloves and about 3 Clorox wipes cleaned it up. After a little more precautionary cleaning, I'd feel fine putting my family in this vehicle. I wouldn't dream of trying to clean out that last Fusion.

  • @wantsanewvehicle

    wtf if somebody shot their self in it or got shot in it, or honestly it was even wrecked bad enough to have blood in it, it should never make it to auction. some asswipe could buy that and change/clean the seats and sell it to some poor old lady. they should go directly from the crime scene to the crusher.

    Interesting timing. I actually test drove an MKZ of that generation at a slightly sketchy local dealership. It had less than 130k miles (if I remember correctly) and was priced very low. The interior was very worn and even had a fast food receipt leftover in the center console. Kind of makes you wonder if this place bought a bloodied car for cheap at auction and then replaced the seats and cleaned up the interior.

  • @Don.of.

    Personally, it all depends. No amount of blood or bodily fluids would stop me, short of coating every square inch of the interior, from pulling all of it and deep cleaning and sanitizing or replacing the interior. Luck doesn't exist, things don't happen for any particular reason, so if it's still in good working order, anything can be cleaned. If you can resale a house that had a serious murder, then cars are no different.
    Flood damage is something else.

Years later, I dated a chemist and actually told her the story. Her reaction was priceless. She wasn't shocked at all and was aware of the "problem." She told me about a simple formula (I forgot, but I think it included vinegar) which would have solved the problem. Wish I still had the car and the girls. ;)

    As a police officer, I investigated the theft of catalytic converters off of cars being towed to the lot where they are stored at Copar. It was intense and interesting as hell to get to not only walk through there, but later I was involved in investigating a suicide that took place in a brand new truck. The person wasn't found for two weeks. I'll never forget that truck, the smell, or of my time spent taking photos under cars that were being jacked up in the lot to photograph the missing parts. (I do clearly remember saying "I don't recall signing up for this when I decided to become a cop..."
    It was fascinating to see- it was thier location in Punta Gorda Florida.

      More people than you think. Dealerships and almost anyone that needs a parts car.
      I would buy one too if I needed engine parts, because you won't find any "human stuff" in there.
      You could buy a car with a blown/seized engine but with good interior/exterior (no biohazard) and then buy one of these and get a good engine and swap it.

    • @satibel
      @satibel 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      me, well, the in good condition cars where someone was splattered, clean everything with germicides, put some charcoal filters and a fan, switch the filters once or twice a day, for a couple of weeks, it should get rid of any remaining smell, then put an automatic deodorizer in for a few days. If the seats are too hard to clean, get new ones.
      Maybe removing a few bolts would be needed to clean everywhere, but that wouldn't take that long I think.

    I'm sure it varies state to state, but generally realtors are required to disclose if a murder occurred in a dwelling they list. I helped clean up a gruesome murder scene in a house years ago in Alaska. Some crackhead knocked on a random door & stabbed the guy when he opened it. We pulled out the bloody carpet & replaced the Sheetrock by the door. I didn't want to be in that house & would not drive a car that someone was murdered or committed suicide in. Maybe if I got a Rolls Royce real cheap I might change my mind...

The car was completely clean on the inside until we got it home and my mom opened the passenger sun visor and we found dried blood under it. Someone missed a spot I guess. I still loved that car, but that whole thing made me never open that visor again.

    I worked in auto insurance as a claims adjuster. I had a claim in 2005 where a woman shot her daughter then herself inside the car, each dying. That car was totaled. It didn't probably meet the criteria to be a total loss in terms of the cost to 'clean up' the inside and replace a window, but it was a little older and my company made the decision to total it due to the wishes of the husband/father. That car had to end up somewhere once Copart took possession of it.

    I bought a 1995 buick the guy told me the car acts weird I thought he meant like in the cold or something. Anyways every once in awhile the alarm would sound and lights would flash at night,not having the remote to the alarm system I would have to go outside and start it and shut it off. I got annoyed with the car so I took it to the shop to disconnect the alarm because lets face it nobody's is trying to break into a 95 buick. The first shop I took it to told me just to disconnect the battery because he couldn't find where to disconnect the alarm system. I went to a different shop and that's when I realized the seller was telling the truth about the car acting weird because the car didn't even have an alarm system. After I faced the fact the car might be haunted I was ok with it and the alarm stopped going off. Something else took it place however the wheel while driving would jerk to the left and the stereo would work itself to the oldie station ALWAYS, I later junked the car for 350 bucks

    "Myth Busters" once had a Corvette Bio car. The car was perfect mechanically but a person died in it and decomposed badly before the police found the car. The Myth Busters tried everything to get rid of the smell. They completely took the interior apart, scrubbed it down with all sorts of cleaners and bleach even steam! But no matter what they did, they could not get rid of that terrible odor. The odor was somehow in the actual structure of the car, not just the fabrics and nothing could get rid of it.
