I bought a custom motorcycle from copart about a year ago. It's value was 45k and I bought it for 13k. It said frame damage and laid over on left side. The frame damage was the license plate tab was tore off frame which was welded on,lol. I tore it apart completely welded a tab on it replaced about 1k in damaged parts and 1800 in paint. After it was done I sold it for 27k. Made a nice profit and had a hell of a time doing it.
If frame was damaged most likely it would be salvaged. Since he did some of the work he was able to save lots of money. If one shop did all the work including the paint I'm sure he'd spend double to repair it.. He scored on this due to his mechanical knowledge.
@@robertmahaney7650 Even scratches on a bike frame can total. The frames are such fragile thin aluminum the insurance company usually takes no risks. So if someone drops a street bike, cracks some plastics, and scuffs the frame a bit. It could be a salvage title thats an easy fix. But bikes with salvage titles are HARD to sell, VERY hard. You could take it for a quick ride and be fine, buy it, and take it down the highway at 80mph, and have it wobble so bad it nearly throws you off. IF you have every ridden a bike with frame damage thats been "repaired" then you will know, not saying it cant be done or hasn't. Just be mindful. Trust me there are people that do it with non salvage bikes as well. Drop it, fix it (more like cover it up) and sell it full price. ALWAYS inspect frame and plastics for a drop, and give it a good ride somewhere safe, while wearing proper gear.

I bought a 99 lincoln Town Car in 05 that was flood damage. It was in a hurricane in Fl. Bought it at half price. The only problem I noticed was it had holes drilled in the floor to get the water out. I still have the car, best car I ever had
@@DarthAnna It is a bad idea to buy flood cars. You may get lucky sometimes and have a good car that runs like any other car or you might get one that a few years down the road it starts to give you crazy problems
I've been a Auto Damage adjuster at a body shop for many years. And the amount of cars I've repaired and seen through production of repairs. I have very rarely ever seen a damaged car from a collision come in with "Mechanical from Engine" or "Transmission" issues from the accident. Only times are when a plastic intake manifold, or a Valve Control Module has been cracked. But those cases are all very simple fixes. These new cars are very stable and a collision doesn't effect the engine.
Great video, usually on those cars like the Mercedes as you called it "doctored up", they will say partial repair in the damage description. I'm surprised they didn't list it as that, it is very obvious to notice. Stay away from partial repaired vehicles as well!
WOW!! I can't believe this video. I bought a salvage truck and didn't know I could search for the earlier (more demolished) photo of it. I found out that the sellers really tried to hide all the damage and sure enough I found the earlier photo. I can't believe that is legal. Thanks for the video, huge thumbs up and hopefully this helps others not make the same mistake.
Great video! The white Mercedes segment was right on point. I almost purchased an A6 out of Los Angeles sight unseen until I searched the vin. ***note*** Copart provides list of inspectors who charge for checking out a car if you are unable to view it in person. It costs $100 but can save you thousands.

This is interesting. I was lucky enough to get my current car as damaged repariable (Uk Cat D) on ebay - It was a good deal and I just happenned to be in the right place at the right time. All it needed was a replacement bumper and a small repair to the wing (fender). I'd definitely look at doing this again so there's some good advice here.
It would be interesting to find out what percentage of people buy such cars and wish that they hadn't. For knowledgeable and practical folk, no problem.... but they are probably doing this already. For ordinary guys ( like me) you could easily under-estimate the quality and sheer quantity of work required. You are still faced with a category C car. Fools rush in where angels fear to tread.... maybe?
I bought a salvage title smart car for $550 from an online junkyard auction that just had a rear wheel sheared off the axle and the other front wheel had a cracked rim, how they did that I do not know. The local police repo is who dumped it in the junkyard so I assume it was a stolen car. Anyway, I paid about $1k to have the car shipped to me on a truck (I dont have a trailer-towing license) gave it a look-over and seen the broken rims were cheap ass custom rims from AUtoZone or something. I almost thought they were plastic. I got 2 new spare steel wheels for it from my local junkyard and unbolted the broken wheels and put on the new ones and started it up and away it went. Engine was absolutely perfect, didn't want to start but it had been sitting for over a year outside and then jiggled around cross-country and things came loose. But the car was only 2 years old and I got it for about $12,000 less than it cost new. I did not sell it, kept it for myself as a backup car should my normal car break down and I need a temporary car. The car fits so cute in my garage I can park it along the wall just like i park my mower. lol I'd never drive one as a daily driver, no way, but for quick jaunts to the store and back for a couple things and for emergency use or guest use if someone visits from out of state, they do just fine. It was a real pain in the ass though to clear the salvage title, but other than that the rest was easy. You do have to know how cars work and how people that are only in the business to sell cars describe what is wrong with the car. You just have to work it out in your head "why would it do this, why would it do that" and then apply that to the car when you go look at it. 90% of the time when the company says "it wont start" is because they cannot access the battery and put a new one in, or do not know how to drain the old gas, clean off the plugs, et cetera et cetera. They aren't going to spend a dime on a car that is put up in a salvage auction whether it needs a $5 spark plug or a $1,000 transmission tune up, because they have no reason to. One car I looked at that was described as "leaking fuel", it turns out it was because a thief had drilled a hole in the side of the gas tank to steal gas and it only leaked out when you turned left and the fuel sloshed to that side. Simple repairs like that are mostly what you find in a car that is pretty much perfect condition otherwise. Throwaway society.
David Hayes yeah I notice in all these copart videos they don't show all hidden fees, memberships (not refundable ) taxes, shipping, auction fees, as well as all other hidden charges, then if reselling you lose 35% on book price, it can be more expensive to buy a copart car and get it road ready than buying used in good condition

salvage cars are great. I'm a bodyman, painter and prepper and picked up a 2016 frs with 1k km on it last Nov, spent 2k CAD in parts and supplies and some money to my boss for working on the car at work. bought the car for 8500+tax (pay tax while it's wrecked so that when you fix it the car isnt taxes based in kbb value) and the car had minor damage, frame was fine. new fender, front bumper and a little bit of bodywork and I had a 30k frs for about 12k all in on the road with no problems. drift and track race that car. granted I'm in the industry and know what I'm doing, if you can get a car you like for a good price salvage and send it to a shop you trust to have it fixed, you can still save a ton of money.

I just got an Infiniti M35 that had been in a wreck and was written off by the insurance company from a close family friend who owns a shop/used dealership for about $4,000 less than the going price for a similarly spec'd model in the same condition. The car runs fantastically, it's in great condition, it's fully loaded with every feature that was offered at the time, everything works and to my admittedly untrained eye, I cannot spot a single bit of evidence that would ever hint at the car having been in an accident. It's an 07 so there is a small amount of cracking on the top of the vinyl dashboard, I suspect from 10 years of sun exposure but even that is minimal and easy to overlook in my opinion. There are some truly great finds to be found out there. Now, having a family friend in the business certainly helps, but you definitely don't need one to get a great deal.

Many would be put off by possible door alignment issues and stress damage transferring accident forces into critical frame and load bearing areas designed to absorb impact, protecting passengers at the cars expense. It could've been much worse. This suggests you're knowledgeable enough to know that the financial rewards outweighed potential risks.

You can easily take a non repairable title from out of state, and have a rebuilt title issued here in Florida. I have done it numerous times. Now a COD from Florida means take it to the scrap yard.

thing is for us canadians, once its salvaged, its very hard to get it back on the road and even after that its a rebuilt title. Other bad thing is insurance companies here will not insure rebuilt title cars unless its a secondary vehicle and its more expensive to insure once you can. The government here dont want junk older cars on the road and only have newer fit cars.
If i had extra time and money I'd def get 2-3 cars(1 flood, 1-2 body damaged) of the same model and start swapping parts around to make 1 complete car. It'd be a extensive rebuilt but that's gonna be the only way it'll be worth it. Strip the flood car down to it's bare frame, wash it all out, and mix parts from both the body damaged cars. It cost too much to rebuild a frame properly. I want factory like gaps or else I'll just buy new
Man I can tell you that being a female, with the only experience I have with mechanical stuff is from working at kragen auto parts for few years and I am extremely intimidated with these online auto auctions for purchasing a vehicle for myself and be happy with my decision a few months or year down the road from now . I only get one shot at this financially I'm in a wierd situation ton of stress so anyway, just saying THANK YOU !! Lol. The more people learn the better getting these auction cars will be and easier people like myself can work out weather a car is right for our particular needs Etc. However I'm from the uk and our auctions are slightly different. But your videos are still helpful as the uk auctions aren't massively different enough to make this help vids invalid. I am female but I love cars and horses and working with both. I've bought and flipped some basic easy fixers and made good money. It's always been a lot of fun . My friends and I (a group of 6 of us) get together and work on the cars and talk Etc. We have a lift and a good working garage (we pay rent for it together and it's well worth it as none of us have room for a nice special garage at home). I can't understand how people think that they can botch it together and think they can fool people. It makes people like my friends and I look bad because we make sure we get right in and go right through everything and try to make sure the car/truck/SUV etc are as good and ready to roll and road safe before we sell them on . If the car it’s rebuilt the right way it’s better that any clean title you buy at a Used car lot with the odometer rolled back . Some people just don’t get it ,but hey ..they just want the clean title with aftermarket parts all over the car and not actual miles on that clean title .Nice
One thing ive learned is those fork lifts they use will screw a car up. bent trunks damaged suspension even a cracked transmission mounts Always check the the internals under the car might find a bent steering rod or two

Frame damage should never be result. It takes a specialist to properly cut and graft a frame. There is no way a layman could ever do a correct repair on a frame damaged vehicle. All cars have built in crumple zones. they are sometimes unnoticed until after the vehicle has been bought. Face it, you are taking a huge risk buying or fixing a frame damaged vehicle. Notice,notice, notice. A salvage title must be produced in the event of a totalled vehicle. I would think twice before investing in wrecked vehicles.
nattydreadlocks1973 I wouldnt buy a damn thing you sell saying that. I hope you end up with a major lawsuit someday selling wrecked cars is risky,you know it. If a family is in a car that gets wrecked again and they find bad patch jobs in the frame the reason someone died and it goes back to you, hang on buddy,they will sue you for everything you own plus some. A wrecked car is just that,wrecked. If you cut and paste in areas designed to give,and they dont,you just created a liability. I have owned salvage vehicles,as long as the frame isnt bent,no problem. The biggest problem is,most vehicles have no full frame,thats the issue, If the reat end is bent,forget it. The front can usually be removed and replaced,depending on the vehicle. Face it,todays Insurance company's dont want cars repaired today,they write them off for anything now days. Mainly for the crumple zone issues.

Reynier Ordaz salvage does not always mean frame damage. cost of parts and labour is 50% of the reason why cars are written off. we buy 2016 and 2017 cars (civics, corollas, basically anything nice) with less than 2000km on them and they have little to no frame damage on them.
Salvages can be worth it if you know what to look for. I've seen some really bad hack jobs that people bring to me at my job to have, or try to have aligned. Blown away at the junk people buy. I myself have a Salvaged 07 Trailblazer I bought a year and a half ago with 80K for $3,800. No frame damage or core support damage...it had front bumper/ grille damage and a wrinkled hood. Replaced, painted all is well...Wife put 20k mi on it in a year. runs like a top. There will be issues with Salvages for insurance coverages per different companies and resale value. But hey...just drive it like you own it

I've done a couple flood vehicles....pulled interior and professionally cleaned....compressed air and dielectric grease on all wire connection and they were good cars...but were pre 10 airbags so maybe not anymore

CarlosEverything yeah the 2.3 ecoboost shows up in quite a lot of ford/Lincoln cars. Pretty sure the mustang and the mkc share the exact same motor, obviously rs is slightly different. Still, my head gasket cracked so it's not a very good one!

Great video. However I do have some questions about the rebuilt title vehicle market and lending. You did get a great deal on that Lincoln MKC. I don't remember how much you had in it, but I do recall you saying a non-rebuilt title would be $33-35k. Now lets say that a rebuilt title vehicle will pull 50% of a comparable vehicle with a clean title. 50% of $35k is $17.5k. If you had $15k in it, you are looking at $2.5k profit which isn't bad. But who is going to buy such a vehicle? Will a bank give someone a loan for a rebuilt title vehicle? If banks won't give a loan for rebuilt title vehicles the market is going to be pretty small at that price level. I'm thinking most people aren't going to pay $17.5k cash for a vehicle with a branded title. I could be wrong though. Seems to me that a good niche to be in would be the lower cost vehicles. It's here where people with less money are looking to buy a car for cash in the first place. You should be able to make quick sales if you can offer those buyers a comparatively nicer car for the same money vs a car with a clean title.
Most if not all people cannot get a loan on a rebuilt car. You can take out a personal loan but nobody will offer an auto loan. The general market on a rebuilt title car is someone who WANTS a more expensive car for a significantly cheaper price. I've seen a rebuilt title fetch 20% off retail, and up to 60% off retail. Every case is individual based off of original damage, repair quality, and general market for the car at that time. I will discuss it in a future video but older cars that are rebuilt might only get a 10% discount because old cars that are worth very little will get totaled in minor fender benders.
Oh and one other thing. I personally do this for fun. I've only sold one car that I personally rebuilt in my lifetime (the MKC). I wouldn't really trust someone elses work, that's why I want to show you guys how to do it. The next video I plan on making is showing how I lost a lot of money on rebuilding my money pit Jetta.
That is what I was thinking. I love working on cars(I also do it for a living), and it seems like it could be a very nice way to get a car that I personally wouldn't want to pay full retail for.
Washedup007 my boss runs a business based on exactly what you said. he sells about 4-6 cars a week (all rebuilt) with no problem. he has banks that finance people with very good interest rates and people get great deals. the cars don't sell for 50% of the value of the same car with a clean title. for example a 28k BMW m sport 328i 2014 my boss sold for about 20-21k. it's more like 65-70%. really depends on the car and what not. some cars he gets are like 2017 civics with 300-400km on it. basically a brand new car. not big damage at all, usual just a few new panels and paint. they sell for 75% of the value of the same car with a clean title. a lot of these crashed cars are also clean title even though they are wrecked.
Washedup007 and yeah it's a great way to get a car you like for a great deal. bought my 2016 FRS with 1035km for 8500$ cad plus tax. needed a new fender, bumper, some bodywork on the door and paint. all in (no labour cost since I did it myself at work besides the frame/metal work, it was a favour from my boss) I was $12500 into the car on the road. the same car with a clean title from the dealer is 27k + tax. the original owner(guy who wrecked it) paid 30k + tax for it. saved myself about 18-20k. I'm in the collision as a prepper and painter so obviously I know what to look for and what to do plus I've got wholesale discounts everywhere, but even as a normal car guy looking to do this for a personal car, it's worth it, as long as you have to fixed PROPERLY. Buy new panels where you can, follow oem procedures etc. a safe repair is the most important thing.
Even when I buy regular old cars off of Craigslist, I run the owner's phone number or email address through google to see who they are. Even though you might meet to buy a car in a nice neighborhood or in a mall parking lot, (or my favorite trick to help sell cars, take photos of the car you're selling in a really nice neighborhood) the owner may actually live in a bad area, and if they live in a bad neighborhood, the car is more likely to have been neglected.
Doesn't work with burner phones/cell phones and disposable emails. You can tell about the car by the price its being sold for, the appearance, and the CARFAX report.

Min 8.24 That subary will never be engine start. If you did at least one subary with that damage you know your timing belt and valves are shot on that car. Be more careful with those.
Because the UK is a communist country and you need to get out of there. In America you can drive whatever you want as long as it has certain safety things (mirrors and lights) in working order, they don't care at all where it came from or what it looks like. People here drive cars with smashed out windows and missing panels on their cars.

Hi Grant Haas. I've noticed that too. I have seen insurance names such as State farm and progressive as well. I think that dealers have found a good spot to place their "enhanced" cars for auction that couldn't be sold at the dealer's location anymore.

This is interesting. I was lucky enough to get my current car as damaged repariable (Uk Cat D) on ebay - It was a good deal and I just happenned to be in the right place at the right time. All it needed was a replacement bumper and a small repair to the wing (fender). I'd definitely look at doing this again so there's some good advice here.
It would be interesting to find out what percentage of people buy such cars and wish that they hadn't. For knowledgeable and practical folk, no problem.... but they are probably doing this already. For ordinary guys ( like me) you could easily under-estimate the quality and sheer quantity of work required. You are still faced with a category C car. Fools rush in where angels fear to tread.... maybe?

I bought a salvage title smart car for $550 from an online junkyard auction that just had a rear wheel sheared off the axle and the other front wheel had a cracked rim, how they did that I do not know. The local police repo is who dumped it in the junkyard so I assume it was a stolen car. Anyway, I paid about $1k to have the car shipped to me on a truck (I dont have a trailer-towing license) gave it a look-over and seen the broken rims were cheap ass custom rims from AUtoZone or something. I almost thought they were plastic.
I got 2 new spare steel wheels for it from my local junkyard and unbolted the broken wheels and put on the new ones and started it up and away it went. Engine was absolutely perfect, didn't want to start but it had been sitting for over a year outside and then jiggled around cross-country and things came loose. But the car was only 2 years old and I got it for about $12,000 less than it cost new. I did not sell it, kept it for myself as a backup car should my normal car break down and I need a temporary car. The car fits so cute in my garage I can park it along the wall just like i park my mower. lol I'd never drive one as a daily driver, no way, but for quick jaunts to the store and back for a couple things and for emergency use or guest use if someone visits from out of state, they do just fine. It was a real pain in the ass though to clear the salvage title, but other than that the rest was easy.
You do have to know how cars work and how people that are only in the business to sell cars describe what is wrong with the car. You just have to work it out in your head "why would it do this, why would it do that" and then apply that to the car when you go look at it. 90% of the time when the company says "it wont start" is because they cannot access the battery and put a new one in, or do not know how to drain the old gas, clean off the plugs, et cetera et cetera. They aren't going to spend a dime on a car that is put up in a salvage auction whether it needs a $5 spark plug or a $1,000 transmission tune up, because they have no reason to. One car I looked at that was described as "leaking fuel", it turns out it was because a thief had drilled a hole in the side of the gas tank to steal gas and it only leaked out when you turned left and the fuel sloshed to that side. Simple repairs like that are mostly what you find in a car that is pretty much perfect condition otherwise. Throwaway society.
David Hayes yeah I notice in all these copart videos they don't show all hidden fees, memberships (not refundable ) taxes, shipping, auction fees, as well as all other hidden charges, then if reselling you lose 35% on book price, it can be more expensive to buy a copart car and get it road ready than buying used in good condition

salvage cars are great. I'm a bodyman, painter and prepper and picked up a 2016 frs with 1k km on it last Nov, spent 2k CAD in parts and supplies and some money to my boss for working on the car at work. bought the car for 8500+tax (pay tax while it's wrecked so that when you fix it the car isnt taxes based in kbb value) and the car had minor damage, frame was fine. new fender, front bumper and a little bit of bodywork and I had a 30k frs for about 12k all in on the road with no problems. drift and track race that car. granted I'm in the industry and know what I'm doing, if you can get a car you like for a good price salvage and send it to a shop you trust to have it fixed, you can still save a ton of money.
I recently bought my first copart vehicle, I did alot of the tips you gave are what I did before bidding. Even with my research I still encountered hidden issues. Luckily it is am usdm and easy to work on.

I just got an Infiniti M35 that had been in a wreck and was written off by the insurance company from a close family friend who owns a shop/used dealership for about $4,000 less than the going price for a similarly spec'd model in the same condition. The car runs fantastically, it's in great condition, it's fully loaded with every feature that was offered at the time, everything works and to my admittedly untrained eye, I cannot spot a single bit of evidence that would ever hint at the car having been in an accident.
It's an 07 so there is a small amount of cracking on the top of the vinyl dashboard, I suspect from 10 years of sun exposure but even that is minimal and easy to overlook in my opinion. There are some truly great finds to be found out there. Now, having a family friend in the business certainly helps, but you definitely don't need one to get a great deal.
im so glad many of the insurance auctions up here in Canada are restricted to insurance companies only. Doctored up cars arent much of an issue.

It could've been much worse. This suggests you're knowledgeable enough to know that the financial rewards outweighed potential risks.

You can easily take a non repairable title from out of state, and have a rebuilt title issued here in Florida. I have done it numerous times. Now a COD from Florida means take it to the scrap yard.

thing is for us canadians, once its salvaged, its very hard to get it back on the road and even after that its a rebuilt title. Other bad thing is insurance companies here will not insure rebuilt title cars unless its a secondary vehicle and its more expensive to insure once you can. The government here dont want junk older cars on the road and only have newer fit cars.
Canada is part of the EU and uses the same old EU laws, get out of there if you want freedom to drive what you want.

If i had extra time and money I'd def get 2-3 cars(1 flood, 1-2 body damaged) of the same model and start swapping parts around to make 1 complete car. It'd be a extensive rebuilt but that's gonna be the only way it'll be worth it. Strip the flood car down to it's bare frame, wash it all out, and mix parts from both the body damaged cars.
It cost too much to rebuild a frame properly. I want factory like gaps or else I'll just buy new

Man I can tell you that being a female, with the only experience I have with mechanical stuff is from working at kragen auto parts for few years and I am extremely intimidated with these online auto auctions for purchasing a vehicle for myself and be happy with my decision a few months or year down the road from now . I only get one shot at this financially I'm in a wierd situation ton of stress so anyway, just saying THANK YOU !! Lol. I am female but I love cars and horses and working with both.
I've bought and flipped some basic easy fixers and made good money. It's always been a lot of fun . My friends and I (a group of 6 of us) get together and work on the cars and talk Etc. We have a lift and a good working garage (we pay rent for it together and it's well worth it as none of us have room for a nice special garage at home).
I can't understand how people think that they can botch it together and think they can fool people. It makes people like my friends and I look bad because we make sure we get right in and go right through everything and try to make sure the car/truck/SUV etc are as good and ready to roll and road safe before we sell them on . Makes hard working car lovers like myself feel sick.

One thing ive learned is those fork lifts they use will screw a car up. bent trunks damaged suspension even a cracked transmission mounts
Always check the the internals under the car might find a bent steering rod or two

Super informative! This is the most practical guidance I have found about damaged vehicle auctions.
Frame damage should never be result. It takes a specialist to properly cut and graft a frame. There is no way a layman could ever do a correct repair on a frame damaged vehicle. All cars have built in crumple zones. they are sometimes unnoticed until after the vehicle has been bought. Face it, you are taking a huge risk buying or fixing a frame damaged vehicle. Notice,notice, notice. A salvage title must be produced in the event of a totalled vehicle. I would think twice before investing in wrecked vehicles.

If a family is in a car that gets wrecked again and they find bad patch jobs in the frame the reason someone died and it goes back to you, hang on buddy,they will sue you for everything you own plus some. A wrecked car is just that,wrecked. If you cut and paste in areas designed to give,and they dont,you just created a liability. I have owned salvage vehicles,as long as the frame isnt bent,no problem. The biggest problem is,most vehicles have no full frame,thats the issue, If the reat end is bent,forget it. The front can usually be removed and replaced,depending on the vehicle. Face it,todays Insurance company's dont want cars repaired today,they write them off for anything now days. Mainly for the crumple zone issues.

Reynier Ordaz salvage does not always mean frame damage. cost of parts and labour is 50% of the reason why cars are written off. we buy 2016 and 2017 cars (civics, corollas, basically anything nice) with less than 2000km on them and they have little to no frame damage on them.

Salvages can be worth it if you know what to look for. I've seen some really bad hack jobs that people bring to me at my job to have, or try to have aligned. Blown away at the junk people buy. I myself have a Salvaged 07 Trailblazer I bought a year and a half ago with 80K for $3,800. No frame damage or core support damage...it had front bumper/ grille damage and a wrinkled hood. Replaced, painted all is well...Wife put 20k mi on it in a year. runs like a top. There will be issues with Salvages for insurance coverages per different companies and resale value. But hey...just drive it like you own it

I've done a couple flood vehicles....pulled interior and professionally cleaned....compressed air and dielectric grease on all wire connection and they were good cars...but were pre 10 airbags so maybe not anymore

CarlosEverything yeah the 2.3 ecoboost shows up in quite a lot of ford/Lincoln cars. Pretty sure the mustang and the mkc share the exact same motor, obviously rs is slightly different. Still, my head gasket cracked so it's not a very good one!

Great video. However I do have some questions about the rebuilt title vehicle market and lending. You did get a great deal on that Lincoln MKC. I don't remember how much you had in it, but I do recall you saying a non-rebuilt title would be $33-35k. Now lets say that a rebuilt title vehicle will pull 50% of a comparable vehicle with a clean title. 50% of $35k is $17.5k. If you had $15k in it, you are looking at $2.5k profit which isn't bad. But who is going to buy such a vehicle? Will a bank give someone a loan for a rebuilt title vehicle? If banks won't give a loan for rebuilt title vehicles the market is going to be pretty small at that price level. I'm thinking most people aren't going to pay $17.5k cash for a vehicle with a branded title. I could be wrong though. Seems to me that a good niche to be in would be the lower cost vehicles. It's here where people with less money are looking to buy a car for cash in the first place. You should be able to make quick sales if you can offer those buyers a comparatively nicer car for the same money vs a car with a clean title.
Most if not all people cannot get a loan on a rebuilt car. You can take out a personal loan but nobody will offer an auto loan. The general market on a rebuilt title car is someone who WANTS a more expensive car for a significantly cheaper price. I've seen a rebuilt title fetch 20% off retail, and up to 60% off retail. Every case is individual based off of original damage, repair quality, and general market for the car at that time. I will discuss it in a future video but older cars that are rebuilt might only get a 10% discount because old cars that are worth very little will get totaled in minor fender benders.
Oh and one other thing. I personally do this for fun. I've only sold one car that I personally rebuilt in my lifetime (the MKC). I wouldn't really trust someone elses work, that's why I want to show you guys how to do it. The next video I plan on making is showing how I lost a lot of money on rebuilding my money pit Jetta.
That is what I was thinking. I love working on cars(I also do it for a living), and it seems like it could be a very nice way to get a car that I personally wouldn't want to pay full retail for.
Washedup007 my boss runs a business based on exactly what you said. he sells about 4-6 cars a week (all rebuilt) with no problem. he has banks that finance people with very good interest rates and people get great deals. the cars don't sell for 50% of the value of the same car with a clean title. for example a 28k BMW m sport 328i 2014 my boss sold for about 20-21k. it's more like 65-70%. really depends on the car and what not. some cars he gets are like 2017 civics with 300-400km on it. basically a brand new car. not big damage at all, usual just a few new panels and paint. they sell for 75% of the value of the same car with a clean title. a lot of these crashed cars are also clean title even though they are wrecked.
Washedup007 and yeah it's a great way to get a car you like for a great deal. bought my 2016 FRS with 1035km for 8500$ cad plus tax. needed a new fender, bumper, some bodywork on the door and paint. all in (no labour cost since I did it myself at work besides the frame/metal work, it was a favour from my boss) I was $12500 into the car on the road. the same car with a clean title from the dealer is 27k + tax. the original owner(guy who wrecked it) paid 30k + tax for it. saved myself about 18-20k. I'm in the collision as a prepper and painter so obviously I know what to look for and what to do plus I've got wholesale discounts everywhere, but even as a normal car guy looking to do this for a personal car, it's worth it, as long as you have to fixed PROPERLY. Buy new panels where you can, follow oem procedures etc. a safe repair is the most important thing.

Even when I buy regular old cars off of Craigslist, I run the owner's phone number or email address through google to see who they are. Even though you might meet to buy a car in a nice neighborhood or in a mall parking lot, (or my favorite trick to help sell cars, take photos of the car you're selling in a really nice neighborhood) the owner may actually live in a bad area, and if they live in a bad neighborhood, the car is more likely to have been neglected.
Doesn't work with burner phones/cell phones and disposable emails. You can tell about the car by the price its being sold for, the appearance, and the CARFAX report.

Min 8.24 That subary will never be engine start. If you did at least one subary with that damage you know your timing belt and valves are shot on that car. Be more careful with those.

Because the UK is a communist country and you need to get out of there. In America you can drive whatever you want as long as it has certain safety things (mirrors and lights) in working order, they don't care at all where it came from or what it looks like. People here drive cars with smashed out windows and missing panels on their cars.

Hi Grant Haas. I've noticed that too. I have seen insurance names such as State farm and progressive as well. I think that dealers have found a good spot to place their "enhanced" cars for auction that couldn't be sold at the dealer's location anymore.
