Watching videos like these are the reason I bought my first motorcycle, a kv175 off marketplace and recently went on my first ever trail ride, great experience all round from fixing to riding.
Great video. I also got a 2001 Suzuki TS 185 ER. Very reliable engines. I fitted a rimlock to my rear wheel and it works great. It sounds if your exhaust does not seal properly in the exhaust port.
Stumbled across your channel and thought I would check it out. Those TS185’s are great trail bikes. I had a 73’ TS185 back in the day. It was the best trail bike I ever had. Wish I still had it.
I was just on my ‘71 TS185 yesterday and I keep going back and forth on which one I like better…the ‘80 or ‘71. Right now the ‘71 is winning since it was the last one I was on lol. I’m sure that will change when I take the ‘80 back out.
My thinking is that if I try to totally restore, they’d be too nice to enjoy in the woods. Plus I just don’t have the time or money to fully restore this many bikes lol
Thanks Chuck…it went from a bike that sat behind a shed under a tarp for over 25 years to a great trail bike that can be a daily rider again. Gratifying to save these things from being parted out or crushed.
After 35 years of racing and off-road riding my opinion would be that the reason you spend the tire on the rim was because it got low the 185 does not have tire locks because it does not have enough horsepower to spend the rim at normal tire pressure I have owned a couple of these 185s in the past and riding them extremely hard and never spun a tire on a rim.Would you like your channel I love these older bikes keep up the good work

That’s awesome! Nothing is more satisfying than riding something you fixed up yourself.
Your channel has easily become one of my favorite channels between yours and 2vintage y’all have me watching Facebook market place daily and loving it
That means a lot Jason, thank you so much for the support! Glad I can help motivate!

Thank you! I didn’t realize they still made TS185s that long.

Wow that brings back memories. I had a 79 ts 125 that my dad bought me when i was 15. Looked like an exact clone of yours
Awesome! My first bike happened to be a ‘79 RM80 when I was 13 in ‘93. I have a soft spot for that era Suzukis.
I love that you do not restore these bikes. Just fix them up and repair as necessary

Looks like a nice ride!

I also have a bike with no rim lock . i was thinking of getting a rimlock and drilling a hole opposite the air valve to install it .
Not a bad idea!

Thank you! You are probably right…I did let some air out on the old tire to gain better traction. Probably went too far lol.
Lots of fun
