As a long time Sony shooter and admirer, I got myself a Leica Q two months ago. Color rendition is amazing. Even in B&W photos the difference is uncanny. Compared to Leica Q, Sony B&Ws started to look like they were shot under fluorescent light. I am using Sony with 70-200mm only and the rest is with Leica Q. Even in 2020, Leica Q is still amazing.
I’ve used the Leica M6 years, decades ago, as well as the original work horses, Nikons and Canons, and as a educating photographer; I enjoyed keeping up with the constant changes or up grades in the photography. But the ultimate camera system, I would have to say is Leica. Most photographers describe that certain “Leica color and sharpness.” I decided, after using my Nikon D750 and D850 for years, I decided to shift the weight to lighter cameras that have the quality all photographers demand, color saturation and sharpness..and that takes me back to the Leica system. I recently picked up the Leica Q as well as the Leica Vario X, and I have to say, the Leica look is amazing.. you have to understand that after 40 years of non-professional photography ( I can’t buy camera equipment and tax it off, like all pros..) I purchased good quality Leica’s and their reputation is steadfast..you learn to shoot slower and creatively, and every shot is fulfilled with the Leica look image and sharpness....but, it’s the weight of not carrying a heavy camera system is enjoyable...
the "round look" is called micro-contrast and incredible fidelity. There is depth to the image that give it an organic look. This is what they dub "the Leica look"
I got my Q2 on 11-13-19. Since that date, I have shot with my M-P 240 one time. The Q2 makes me want to make images with it every day. It cannot replace an M camera system, but the Q2 does a lot of things awfully well. It is pretty much the perfect everyday camera and is an outstanding choice for documentary, travel, cultural and street photography.
I shoot film and digital. I bought a Q about 6 months ago. I was using X100F and a Ricoh GR which are in my opinion are fantastic but I wanted to go to full frame, so I made the Jump to a Q as the Q2 release meant the second hand market was good. The Q is absolutely Fantastic, I was blown away by how amazing it is. The images are what I have been striving for. Recently picked up a very low count D700 as a all weather tool to get, the images are cool and the colours are amazing. Still trying to pick up M6 after years of wanting one. Really enjoyed your video. Keep up the good work.
Yep! This is what I needed to hear. All my uncertainties about moving away from the M system were put to rest. Thanks for the thoughtful and thorough review.
I bought an almost new second hand Q two weeks ago. It's 100 % up the job and cover my professional needs. It's a great supplement to my M240 with a 50 mm Summilux. I've been following your channel for a while and love your videos. That's also why I jumped for the Q. Stay cool and keep on rolling.
I totally agree. I got the Q at the end of last year and it's amazing. I'm used to a sony with a 24mm 1.4 GM en Zeiss 55mm 1.8, selling that. I was a bit of gear head at first, that's partly why I got the Leica. After I got it I realized it's not really about the gear. I'm sure I can do similar work with a fuji x100X. So recommending everyone who's considering it, buy it if you really have the money laying around, but don't expect te become a better photographer. The photo's come from you and you creativity, not the camera. But damn, that Q is a killer camera and I'm sure to keep it for a long long time.Good video too!
I watched so many Q and Q2 videos by now. Yours is by far and I mean by far the BEST. Thank you so much. I also love your photography. That’s what differentiates you from so many YTers. I subscribed of course and the bell is on. I lust even more for the Q2 now. I used to have the original Fuji X100 and it was the Camera I loved the most. I owned many cameras throughout the years. Mostly shooting underwater videos for paying customers. Unfortunately it will a few more years for me to be able to afford one. Especially with having lost my job 18 months ago due to Covid. I live in Thailand and used to work in the tourism industry. Anyway, thank you very much for a great insight into the camera and the lens. Wish you the best. Dominic
Man, thank you. This is what I needed to see/hear. I shoot with an M4-P and Sony Digital gear. I've been toying with jumping to this system to simplify everything. Well done and thanks!
Currently a Q2 owner. Nice video and I look forward to seeing more. IMO - if I could do it over again, I would have saved the $1,000+ and got either the Q or QP. You will surely enjoy this new rig! Congrats!
@@UlyssesAokiPhoto I was a longtime Nikon D700 with all the fast primes f1.4's on 35mm/50mm/85 and the legendary 24-70f2.8. I'm never going back to carrying 5+ lbs. Also, with the fixed non-interchangeable lens, I figure there should be no chance of dust on the sensor. FYI - I bought the Lim half case and Thumbs up...both awesome products but again if i can do it over again, save your $ and use it as it is. The added weight is barely noticeable but my small hands make it easier to palm with one hand if i don't use the case. Also, with the Lim case, I find it hard to move the right arrow, it's too close to the case. My Q2 is currently mated to gordy's neckstrap 48" which i like to sling cross body. The leica strap is simply too short. I also have the "regular" gordy wrist strap and I find the strap near the lug a little too thick and harder to fit near my grip (the neckstrap is not as bulky). These little things I didn't realize until i actually had them in hand. You'll notice on the pic below, while I was never a fan of filters, I'm using the filter as my "protection" as I've seen on the web alot of paint wear off the hood. I might remove this bs filter and go back to the hood but I'm trying to keep this pristine as much as possible. bradleung.smugmug.com/Other/Web-pics/n-Swkjv9/i-DsR8bJq/A bradleung.smugmug.com/Other/Web-pics/n-Swkjv9/i-5fwC64V/A
Nice video and point of view. After having both Q and Q2... it’s hard to say you can go wrong with either. The images do have something extra, a “look” that many other cameras don’t seem to have. Keep making videos on the QP and I’ll keep watching.
Nice little video and im glad it was for the Q-P. I always end up searching for new Q videos, but not many out there. When i started looking for a Q a few years back the only ones out was from DPreview and Taco making reviews on the original Q. I loved those and have seen them many times, but for someone starting to look for one now at least there are a few out there. For the Q-P not many as i guess not many have them. I had the Titanium Q the first time after selling all my Fuji gear, then sold the Q and got BACK into Fuji again when the X-T3 came out. Regretted it almost right away and before looking for a new Q or pondering the Q2 i saw the Q-P and fell in love with its look and design. They also changed the shutter button which bugged some people on the original Q. Plus you get the extra battery etc as you said. The Q2 just was not worth it for me, The only thing i cared about was the weather sealing, but its slightly bigger and the bigger files was nothing i needed either. So the positives weighed in the Q-Ps favour for sure. I have had it now for 6 months and i love it. I do shoot a Nikon D4 and a DF on the side, but i use the Q-p for 80% of what i do personally. Keep up the good work, we need more Q vids so keepem incoming! ;) /Martin.
Your pop-ups and self deprecating humor are great! Keep it up. I’d like to see how you edit the DNG’s in Lightroom. Fantastic pics! Just found this channel through the next video you did on the Q.
Great video. I really appreciate the depth of feeling that you put into your narrative. For me photography is an emotional pursuit in its purest form. Hearing how you "feel" about things, even when you can't find all the words, is fantastic for me. Thanks for sharing!
Why do you do this to meee??? I love my wife (GRiii). But the Q is definitely something special :D Always amazed by the quality of the images coming out of it and the "roundness" of it. And good job on the video man! It's awesome to see you getting better and better on youtube. Keep it going!
Samuel L. Streetlife I'll DM your wife and let your wife know about that! Great that you notice the "roundness" of it too! Thanks about the video quality... gradually getting better at it! :) Hope to make something together again soon!
Interesting point you make about portraits with this 28 and I agree. I actually really like portraits at this length as it includes just the right amount of background environment and I totally understand your point about a medium format feel to some frames. I recently bit the bullet and spent a small fortune on a flash, the Leica SF 40 - Wow! it takes the Q to another level! I've had my Q for 3 years now and it is just a fantastic camera. Your video was great btw.
Refreshing and thought out and a good pace. I have been considering a Leica q now you only need to sell one kidney since q2 came out. Keep up the vids .
Thanks for the video, Totally agree with you. The Leica Q is a fantastic camera and in my opinion it has the best manual focus in any of the modern digital cameras I have used and I have used a few. I also use a Leica M9 which is another great camera.
Thanks Ulysses for your view on the Leica Q. I just bought the Q-P too and already loving it. I can't wait to be in Japan to catch moments of Japanese life. Ganbatte kudasai... your reviews are great, as well as your style!
I agree with the micro contrast. I noticed it on my images on my Leica m8 combined with a voigtlander ultron 35mm. Leica sensors definitely have something very special about their design
As far as I know they don't have anti aliasing filters, so it could be down to that? Also no phase detect autofocus, which can sometimes introduce a subtle grid pattern onto the final image
I actually ordered this camera the first day of the confinement, here in France. I should be able to have it early in May..it's in a store 3 miles from my house, (aarrgg) but it's closed. I have a full Sony A7III system, which is awesome, and I will keep that system as a Q only is not an option for me. It's been more than a year that I wanted a lighter camera for my everyday use. I choose the Q to force me rethinking my pictures. I'm not used to 28mm, but I choose it specifically for that. At first I wanted a GR, but I can't shoot without a EVF. Like you, I've chosen a Q-P. Many thanks for your instructive video.
Good work! I loved your words, all well said, the editing and music. Not to mention the camera is really quite special. I held it once and it was like I was Wayne from Waynes World with the guitar.. You will be mine.. oh yes.. you will be mine.
@@ItzKamo I've been researching this for a while now. I rented a Q2 for a week and fell in love. I'm still considering a Q, but also wondering why I shouldn't just get the Q2 and wait to find a used one when the Q3 comes out or just go Q3. But also I'm not sure when the Q3 will drop.
Finally ! A good talk about the camera ability in term of image ! I was a very happy Fuji x100f owner until the wire focus tab ( a bit wobbly ) was driving me mad . People love to talk about about Fuji colors . To me , it always looked nice but a bit “cartoony , not “real life” . The only better thing in Fuji is highlights and shadows recovery but when light is right , the Q images become quite magicals even if highlights are blown . What profile do you use in Lightroom ? Adobe color , embedded , other ?? Many thanks
I have a Q2 that I bought in August. It still feels new and exciting to me, it's a very special camera, and really the same experience you describe here.
My dream camera is not out yet, but it’s the the Q2-P. I don’t want to sell all my fuji gear and get the Q-P and then that be announced ! But I could always sell the Q-P once it comes out. Decision!!! That camera is just a beauty.
I've shot many brands and formats since I was a kid, I always wanted but could never justify the expense of a leica but it's always burned at me to go for it. I'm getting to the stage and age where I have a bit more disposable income (although the current cost of existing and the heartless taxman are having a ball with it) anyway, I've been agonising for a long while. Digital wise I use fuji and love them, but I cant get leica out of my head. I don't want the Q2 the files are far too large for my needs, the Q is looking a better option for me if nothing else just to get the thing out of my system. Great video mate with lovly sample images. I'm close very close to diving in. Cheers XXX
Just got my Q back from Leica🇦🇺after a lens service. It’s better than it ever was. A friend lent me a Fuji X-100 and the comparison made me realise just how good the Q is. Film simulations, meh. I have 27 black and white film styles in Nik Collection 7 Silver Efex alone, from 25 asa to 3200 asa….✌️
Thanks for sharing. I want to buy my first Leica and deciding between Q-P and the Q2. I think I like the Q-P better since it’s has lighter file size, better in low light performance. But I like the Q2 that it has weather proof.
Q is a "frame and shoot" camera with an excellent 28mm and 24MP. But you're stuck to 28. I chose a second hand M240 + elmarit 28 + summilux 50, more versatile. And for me a X100V would be a best choice as a compact : smaller, lighter, with an excellent flash system and ⅓ of the price.
Interesting how you are mentioning a "round" look. This is very important. I feel the same way with my old Zeiss lenses and the Sony A7R2. With the Fuji I ad, with some of the lenses, the photos looked a bit odd.
Maybe it's just because of TH-cam compression, but Leica Q colors look very similar to the old NIKON D700, they're nicely saturated, I'd not call them real, but really pleasing. No other Nikon after the D700 has those colors. I want this Leica too.
interesting... some travel photographers that used the DX00 series have amazing colors and contrast renditioning and was interested before. Thanks for the insight 👍
2 yesrs ago i traded my Nikon D4s with 2 primes lens for a Leica Q at Map Camera Shinjuku... never had a regret. Best camera ever if you don't mind the battery life, just got few more batteries on alazon for 10 bucks.
Nice video, it's interesting to know why somebody likes a certain camera model. I like the photos at 0:16 and 3:50, specially this last one. It looks like an abstract photo more than an architecture/urban photo, I like it.
i recently got the leica q2 love this camera still figuring out how to use it to its max potential but i would love to see hyou do tips and tricks videos or recomend someone who has a great walk through on the leica q2 if thats possible thanks again in advance and great video
With this video you've just reaffirmed my commitment to make long-term savings for a Leica Q, don't care if I'm 50, a Leica it's a Leica. Also quick question, If you have all the money in the world, Would you still keep the Q or you'd go for an M where you have a pile of glass for it? Really love your content and it's always a joy watching videos where you focus on the experience and not really too emphasized on specs
Amateo Bandido Hey Amateo, age is a relative scale. It doesn't matter. Try hard and treat yourself in the future.👍 That is such a great question, I actually asked that question to myself recently. I'm a big believer in having ONE "street" camera. The Q has spoiled me so much with the versatility and AF, I'm scared I might not like the M as much as I'd think. I actually think the answer is no for now... I'd invest that money for travel or making my YT life easy by investing in equipment or skilled people to free up my time (to shoot!). Appreciate your observation about my videos.
Great info on the Q; which, partly thanks to your film, I think I will buy, (instead of the fuiji 100V..). And instead of simply yearning for, n not buying, the Q2... Also, some lovely images in your film.
Finally following you on TH-cam I have a Q and am trying to upgrade firmware but not working out to well.. I even went to Leica and could not get it to download. I'm still on 2.0
I am debating whether to buy the Q or Q2. I like the switch on/off with single shot and continuous shot on the Q, but then I like dust/moisture resistant feature on the Q2. Have you tried the Q2?
If you have the money get the Q2! it's better, no question about it. However, the Leica Q will do the job even better than just fine. My leica Q makes amazing pics, but i do want 42 megapixels that would be nice
wow Ulysses I follow you on insta but never thought you made videos lol maybe I just didn't check or something but I'm glad your video popped up on my feed! now I have something else to watch while I work from home during this quarantine lol great video!
I think with this video my mind is made up on my next camera as I wanted something exactly like this. 🥺 I’ve been toying with the idea of a Fujifilm xpro3 but it’s just not all there for me for some reason. Plus I love full frame 🤷🏼♂️ Thanks for the great video!!
Thanks for this video. Please let me know your feeling with the EVF and your glasses. I’ve read that even the Leica CL has a better EVF for people wearing glasses. The Q2 is obviously improved in this perspective amount all the other improvements done... but I would like to get your honest point of view
Great point... I have to say the evf is bright but not that big with glasses, which I'm noticing more as my eyesight worsens. At the same time, I don't know of any digi cameras with big, clear viewfinders.Would love to know what's out there
Hi Ulysses, I really appreciate your style and presentation of photography idea. Different to most photography youtubers. Please keep up the good work you have been doing. I also quite like Leica Q and Q2's feel and handling, build quality and image quality. The only reason I didn't get one is the 28mm fov. After all, I love my GR3 and want a second camera to have a narrower fov. Is there anything close to Leica Q's feel but 40-50mm fov? Obviously my budget can't stretch to M10 Monochrome + 50mm ASPH summicron. Leica CL plus APSC 35mm lens? Thanks in advance. Cheers
Right on. I like your review because it's coming from somewhere different and one that doesn't show the journey from digital to digital rigs. I love my cameras at the moment, but have been searching for the "next thing" and your video is definitely helping. 😏 Also, just followed you on IG and I hope we can connect on the streets, soon. Cheers.
I’m not a Leica user but damn! Ulysses you took amazing photos with it! It’s only a budget issue for me, maybe someday! Thanks for sharing your experience with it🖖🏼
Lorenzo Catena Lorenzo, wow thank you for watching... Oh Please!! You are amazing with the Fuji... One day I will go to Italy and you can use my Leica Q for a day or two :)
How about taking picture using another type of camera (say lumix -because there're leica lenses for it) with leica lens on it. Does it have this "roundness" thay you mention? Thankyou before
I've yet to make the jump from Velvia 50 35mm ( with Canon 1V and current L glass ) to a smaller and more carry-able digital camera . I have to admit that I do find myself usually using the Canon L 24-70 2.8 IS at the 24-28mm end of the range nearly all the time . Someone gave me a 5Diii body recently , but I haven't warmed to it . The expensive Leica Q2 28mm is something I could afford though . How much jumping around in brightness does the viewfinder image do as you pan around a scene for composition ? Is it annoying and slow to respond ? Does depth of field appear or are you left guessing somewhat ? Thanks !
@@UlyssesAokiPhoto Yea! It's been on my radar since Jason keeps mentioning it lol. But especially after I got my M6, I'm even more tempted now. Your video just pushed me over the edge! Let's catch up soon!
Hi! Great video you got here! I’m really curious, how useful is the crop mode for you especially the 50mm crop mode with smaller megapixels? Do you find it useful or do you have any further comment on that aspect? Would love to hear from a user since i am planning to move from M to Q because i really like the idea of 28mm that is versatile for street and travel. Thanks!
Loved this, my favorite Q video i've seen yet and I've been obsessively researching like you described. can you ask what presets you're using? i love the way you still have maintained the feel of the M6... truly beautiful work.
Thank you for the complement! No presets... and not much editing... so I’m surprised you thought it looks like film! It’s more about the colors that you like in real life I think. Choose to shoot good colors in interesting light.
100% if i could choose a leica i would want the Q , really love the idea of the macro feature and the mechanical feel when turning the dial + manual focus feel compared to fuji focus by wire to make their lens as small as possible and sacrifice the manual feel of their lens. with that said, does this mean you also zone focus with your leica Q? could you maybe share your thoughts and feelings about being X focal lenght shooter and how you come to prefer those focal length over the other zoom range? Its just something I dont quite understand yet, I just heard a similar thing with samuel as well about him preferring the GRIII focal lenght and something along the line of over time people slowly prefer more and more wide angle range. a side similar topic is also the critique on the X100V being 35mm and people saying its "boring" focal length now when i thought it was one of the stable middle ground focal lenght BUT then again i also hear the leica Q 27 is too wide so i guess its all just opinions on the internet.
JayGrapher.Th Hey Jay! Great points you're raising. Funny you mention it, I'm working on a big video about zone focusing, and yes I'm using the Leica Q for it. About the focal length, I love a good 35mm as it is a great mid-ground between 28mm and 50mm. The 28mm is definitely tricky without experience. A big factor here is that, the wider the frame is, the more there is to think about. Not saying that a 50mm is easy, but definitely simpler to get a "better" shot. Batting averages tend to be higher imo! Going forward I am planning on creating guides to 28mm, 35mm, and 50mm. Stay tuned... :)
I really hope they have a lot of success with the Q lineup and they would come out with a Q 35mm Summilux and a Q 50mm Summilux. So anyone can choose which he prefers. That would be awesome and I would take all 3 btw :)
Again cool video brother! But I am sorry you are teasing us with your film camera, and as I can see you still have a bunch of rolls left... you’ll have to think about making a 35mm video soon! ✌️
I've always been interested in the Q but you may have pushed me over the edge to buy one. I love that you can use frame lines like an old M6. I would use the peak focusing for manual focus but can you shoot in B&W mode on the EVF? I love doing that with my Fuji's.
I use FACE for most stuff unless I use manual focus. It's super reliable most of the time unless you get the wrong face. I'm surprised to hear Q2 is less effective.
With that kind of price tag, it's better be the best camera in the industry.I will be getting the poor man Leica (X100V) this summer with a very heavy heart indeed .😆
The Q2 is the newer Q. There is quite a huge difference in Sensor, Viewfinder abd batterylife. What the question should be is about the difference of Q and Q-P. Sorry to interrupt...
Great video. I recently got one and sold it after just a few weeks and found a Mp240 for basically the same price. The reason is simply I don't really use 28mm that much as I prefer 50mm as main. I feel so both sad and regret for the decision. There is something about the Q that is so unique, mainly in the user experience part. I used to have Fuji X100, Xpro2, but Q just just feel better. probably because of the manual/auto mode and the long press shutter review. In terms of IQ, it is better than my MP (well I don't have a high end Leica Glass) by quite a lot and I found it easier to work with in post. Now I think Q2 will be the perfect camera but the price is too much. Q is in my opinion the best camera if you like 28mm.
Jiajun Yang totally agreed. hence my comment "it still looks and is a 28mm." I use 50mm for portraits mainly and that's a headache since I just want to use my Q! 😂
Ulysses Aoki that’s unfortunate, I think the cameras nowadays don’t matter as such, because both film and digital can produce beautiful results. Keep up the good work!
I own the Q2, and the Q before it. Owning a leica is an emotional experience as much as it is a tool. My Leica doesn't make me any better of a photographer, but it enhances my enjoyment of my hobby.
Completely agree, and I appreciate your comment b
What is the quality of the EVF on Q2? Is the same shit as on Q or more better?
The reason why I hate my Leica Q is the very very bright EVF.
Can you please help me make a decision. I had the Sony RX1R mark1 and then the mark 2.
Despite a much improved AF System the mark 2 overall was a massive disappointment due to being so bad with noise at ISO 1600 or higher, whereas the mark 1 was amazing up to Iso6400.

Also the weaker color filter array
So, it is lens dependent perhaps?

Man, thank you. This is what I needed to see/hear. I shoot with an M4-P and Sony Digital gear. I've been toying with jumping to this system to simplify everything. Well done and thanks!
I love this video as it focuses on the practical and isn’t about persuading people to buy the latest gear.
Currently a Q2 owner. Nice video and I look forward to seeing more. IMO - if I could do it over again, I would have saved the $1,000+ and got either the Q or QP. You will surely enjoy this new rig! Congrats!
bradleungphoto glad to hear from another Q user! Q2 is amazing but yes the Q or QP are still very powerful.

Nice video and point of view. After having both Q and Q2... it’s hard to say you can go wrong with either. The images do have something extra, a “look” that many other cameras don’t seem to have. Keep making videos on the QP and I’ll keep watching.
Almost 3 years with my Leica Q, and it's still amazing.
Mordy Quezada that's great value you're getting from it then... keep it up 👍
Thanks. Probably, the best ever Q review ! Congratulations!
I think your first video gave me the last push that i needed to buy the Leica Q. Never been happier with a digital camera.
Not a Leica user but I loved how passionately you talked about the camera and had to see the entire video.
thanks for watching!
Keep up the good work, we need more Q vids so keepem incoming! ;)
/Martin.
Martin Andreasson Appreciate a good comment from a Q user :)
I’m new to the Q-P family. Love the video.
8:14 what the hell that was the funniest surprise I've seen in a serious video for a long time! 🤣 love it!
Your pop-ups and self deprecating humor are great! Keep it up. I’d like to see how you edit the DNG’s in Lightroom. Fantastic pics!
Just found this channel through the next video you did on the Q.
DNG edits are the next thing on my mind...
Thanks!!!! I'll make sure to not edit out my character :)
Great video. I really appreciate the depth of feeling that you put into your narrative. For me photography is an emotional pursuit in its purest form. Hearing how you "feel" about things, even when you can't find all the words, is fantastic for me.
Thanks for sharing!
I agree with you, I own the QP as well. I am going to order the Q2 Mono as I prefer B&W, but will keep the Qp for color, and damn its color is good.
Hope to make something together again soon!
Samuel L. Streetlife I agree he’s making me want to sell all my fuji gear and get this camera. It’s once of my dream cameras. Ugh !!!! 🤣
@@Holl.Mvrk. do it!
@@Holl.Mvrk. I did it but I kept an XT2 and 23mm. So, happy with the Q!
I love this review; so hard to find engaging reviews on camera eq. Thank you!
Thanks for the video, Totally agree with you. The Leica Q is a fantastic camera and in my opinion it has the best manual focus in any of the modern digital cameras I have used and I have used a few. I also use a Leica M9 which is another great camera.
In tried using Google, but found this video much more insightful and informative on the Leica Q! Thanks Ulysses!
Thanks Ulysses for your view on the Leica Q. I just bought the Q-P too and already loving it. I can't wait to be in Japan to catch moments of Japanese life. Ganbatte kudasai... your reviews are great, as well as your style!
CMJ D sweet... 日本へようこそ!
Sample shots are amazingly emotional, nice work!!
Ok. I'll get one. Well, a Q2 I think.
Hello Jamie, fanboy of your videos here. 😊
Would love to see what you can do with it!
Q2 is really not worth it compare to the first one. I'd wait for Q3 or just get a Q
Just got the Q it’s really nice, only annoyance is the really bright viewfinder.
@@StevenBoliek probably a long way to go for the Q3, I assume Leica will release a Q2-P first, to milk it a bit more

Came across the channel as Im pondering going Fuji 100F > Leica Q. Good content, sympathetic dude.
Nice vid dude, I have the Q, absolutely love it. Never gonna give it up......
I would love to see a software update in which you could define 3 manual focus distances where the camera could beep if you switch to it 😁
My dream camera is not out yet, but it’s the the Q2-P. I don’t want to sell all my fuji gear and get the Q-P and then that be announced ! But I could always sell the Q-P once it comes out. Decision!!! That camera is just a beauty.
Did you see the q2 reporter? That’s a nice looking camera.
Marc flash is definitely terrible when using leicas. over complicated imo. I respect your choices👍
Interesting observation about the changed shooting style. Agree with that. I tend to be more creative with an EVF, too.
Interesting how you are mentioning a "round" look. This is very important. I feel the same way with my old Zeiss lenses and the Sony A7R2. With the Fuji I ad, with some of the lenses, the photos looked a bit odd.
Which lenses?
Maybe it's just because of TH-cam compression, but Leica Q colors look very similar to the old NIKON D700, they're nicely saturated, I'd not call them real, but really pleasing. No other Nikon after the D700 has those colors. I want this Leica too.
interesting... some travel photographers that used the DX00 series have
amazing colors and contrast renditioning and was interested before.
It looks like an abstract photo more than an architecture/urban photo, I like it.
appreciating your feedback. I would say so too, more abstract. But hopefully not too abstract! (Meaning it still has some structure)
@@UlyssesAokiPhoto It definitely still has some structure ;-)
i recently got the leica q2 love this camera still figuring out how to use it to its max potential but i would love to see hyou do tips and tricks videos or recomend someone who has a great walk through on the leica q2 if thats possible thanks again in advance and great video
iamcaprice_ noted. might do a tips vid on the Leica Q.
Try hard and treat yourself in the future.👍
That is such a great question, I actually asked that question to myself recently. I'm a big believer in having ONE "street"
camera.
I'm still on 2.0
I just ordered the same exactly one, can't wait to use it.
Great images! And review.
Think I might need to get one.
Not a fan of the crop mode. Prefer to shoot at 28mm and crop in post if required. Better still... move closer (If poss).
Great video and set of photos.. 2 thumbs up 👍👍
Gerik Flor thank you so much!!
wow Ulysses I follow you on insta but never thought you made videos lol maybe I just didn't check or something but I'm glad your video popped up on my feed! now I have something else to watch while I work from home during this quarantine lol great video!
thank you so much... will be making more :)
I think with this video my mind is made up on my next camera as I wanted something exactly like this. 🥺 I’ve been toying with the idea of a Fujifilm xpro3 but it’s just not all there for me for some reason. Plus I love full frame 🤷🏼♂️
Thanks for the great video!!
Looking forward to spending far less and getting my fuji xt4.
The music behind this got me feeling emotional for your Leica 😂
Thanks for this video. Please let me know your feeling with the EVF and your glasses. I’ve read that even the Leica CL has a better EVF for people wearing glasses. The Q2 is obviously improved in this perspective amount all the other improvements done... but I would like to get your honest point of view
Great point... I have to say the evf is bright but not that big with glasses, which I'm noticing more as my eyesight worsens.
At the same time, I don't know of any digi cameras with big, clear viewfinders.Would love to

@@UlyssesAokiPhoto thanks. Test out the Leica SL, SL2 or Lumix S1, S1R... fantastic EVF. The best on the market.
@@UlyssesAokiPhoto - the new Panasonic FF Lumix has an amazing EVF experience....I wear specs and the screen looked superb to me....
Could you please share your view on Q2 Monochrome?
hope to get my hands on one :)
how about Leica M10 series? have a few Leica M lens wanna try digital Leica.
Cheers
As an aside, where did you get the cool shirt and t-shirt? I visit Japan often.
Best wishes with your new tool. Keep us posted...
Thankyou before
Hi! What is the best editing software for Leica raws? I’ve noticed Lightroom changes colours when importing from Leica q-p. Thanks
Thanks !
You’ve sold me... on the Q2. Added it to the dream list 😩. I hope you’re doing well brother. Love the setup and growth of the channel. Keep going!
Gajan Balan hahahaha thanks man! It's funny because the Q isn't as expensive as people think these days...
and you've been growing too!! congrats!! hope to catch up 🤣🤣🤣
@@UlyssesAokiPhoto Yea! It's been on my radar since Jason keeps mentioning it lol. But especially after I got my M6, I'm even more tempted now. Your video just pushed me over the edge! Let's catch up soon!
Great video, really enjoyed it.
Such a beauty... Are you still gonna use your little canon? cheers from Chile.
@@UlyssesAokiPhoto love! thanks!!
Question about continuous auto focus if this channel is still up!?
Great video, what camera you use shooting this video?
Fuji’s problem with manual focusing is focus by wire.
I think the Q line is the new and another Leica classic
@@UlyssesAokiPhoto thank you very much for the reply, looking forward to your future videos :)
I really hope they have a lot of success with the Q lineup and they would come out with a Q 35mm Summilux and a Q 50mm Summilux. So anyone can choose which he prefers. That would be awesome and I would take all 3 btw :)
Now I want one.
WOW! It's here!!!
Jesse Yang thanks always! 😍
Again cool video brother! But I am sorry you are teasing us with your film camera, and as I can see you still have a bunch of rolls left... you’ll have to think about making a 35mm video soon! ✌️
Jasmin Gendron will do sir...
I've always been interested in the Q but you may have pushed me over the edge to buy one. I love that you can use frame lines like an old M6. I would use the peak focusing for manual focus but can you shoot in B&W mode on the EVF? I love doing that with my Fuji's.
Rudy Ortega I actually wasn't sure so I checked-- you can actually do this. with the framelines too! sweet.
If the Q3 has a tilt screen and different aspect ratio selections for jpegs, than I’m buying one.
I find auto focus on Q better than Q2. My q never failed on fast focusing with face detect. The Q2 constantly fails.
The x100v costs about $1500 ...? I don't understand your argument, but yeah get whatever you want. I'm not pushing anyone into anything here
Great review! Have you noticed any sensor dust at f16?
OMG that brain freeze moment.
You should have added it to the timeline :))
Don't know why I immediately thought of Kewpie mayo when you said Leica Q-P. Is the red dot the only difference between the Q2?
NixM same here lol
basically yes... and a minor adjustment to the off/s/c switch. there's an engraving on the top too.
Jiajun Yang totally agreed. hence my comment "it still looks and is a 28mm." I use 50mm for portraits mainly and that's
a headache since I just want to use my Q! 😂
Excellent as always
Are you still shooting film alongside your Leica Q?
Barney Hey! Sometimes... Been intentionally avoiding it. and also, my M6 has issues.
Ulysses Aoki that’s unfortunate, I think the cameras nowadays don’t matter as such, because both film and digital can produce beautiful results. Keep up the good work!
Biggest camera regret was selling my Q. Best purchase was last week buying my Q2 Monochrom. I won’t make that selling mistake again.
