- I've had my Leica Q since 2016 and I've loved every minute of it. With well over 100,000 actuations and plenty of keepers, here are my thoughts on why I think it's a modern day classic!

Been shooting with it since it was introduced and till today the files that my clients WOW the most are almost always the Qs. A gem.
I bought a Q1 in September 2018. I use two Ms professionally and also an S2. But I can’t tell how many times an image from the Q has made it into a project’s master file. I use it for everything personal and wouldn’t sell this fabulous camera for anything. It’s the camera I will never sell.
Super review Brad!I bought a Q2 las summer and was pleasantly surprised by how powerful this little point-and-shoot can be. That 28mm f/1.7 lens is jaw-dropping in terms of detail, colour and micro-contrast.
Hi Daniel, thanks for watching and thanks for your kind comment. Glad you're loving the Q2. The detail on that lens is amazing.
You can avoid dust on the lens by taping the microphone and loudspeaker holes on top and on the back of the Q. I use my Q as a backup for my M240 with a 50 mm Summilux. Great set for press photography. Thanks for sharing your experiences with your Q. Keep on rolling!
Been saving for my dream Leica. After tons of research I have it narrowed down to the M10. Thanks for your review. It reinforced my will to purchase a Leica inspite of its high price.
Agree with everything. Have mine since 2017 and i just can’t get enough. Had plenty chances to move to the Q2, but this one just works for me. I even had the pleasure to be invited by Leica Pt to enter in the promotional Q2 vídeo. But the Q just doesn’t fail. Good review
Nice video, have a Q and added a Fuji X-Pro3 to be more flexible. The Q is a camera which I will not sell, don't need a Q2 or Q3.
Good solid overview. I traded up to the Q2, which I love for the following reasons: better low light performance, much better weather sealing (perfect camera for a rainy day), and better battery life. The .dng files are huge, but deliver such vibrance and dynamic range - the extra size does make using the Macro function have some additional mileage if you needed to crop for some reason. As a rule I do not, but for macro shots, this can actually be handy. Highly recommend the upgrade since you asked. 28mm is an awesome focal length for narrative story telling and can be a rather excellent portrait lens, as your samples attest. I never used video on my Q when I had it, but I do like what I have been able to do on the Q2. Overall, besides what I noted the Q2 behaves, feels the same as the Q.
Hi Robert, thanks for your message, I've been impressed with the macro function on the lens too, glad to hear about the weather sealing that's the one thing that is missing from the original Q.
Great video, im looking for a used leica Q and looking forward to own my first Leica.
I’ve had my original Q since it’s release and am still impressed by it. Mine is pretty beat up from travel as well since it’s the perfect size for every day carry. I’ve recently been trying to shoot with an A7R IV but the overall experience and color rendition/RAWs make me miss the Leica.
Yeah the colours are really good
Beautiful images with your Leica Q. I just brought my first Leica. Already planning to buy the Q3.
Love my Q!!!
It’s great and takes awesome shots!!! The files are great and I shoot raw and jpegs. It just works well in all conditions! I may get a Q2 after the 3 comes out but I have no issues and enjoy taking the q out with an extra battery or memory card that’s it!!! Love it!!!
Got my QP recently and love it. An addition to my long held M7 and M-E. I plan to use it as a travel camera along w my GR3. If I'm walking a lot then the GR3 goes. If more deliberate then the Leica Q. There is something about the one lens one camera thesis. Been shooting mostly w M-E and 21asph. Love that combination. Don't want or need a Q2. My snaps are just sketches. I'm fine w that. Great vid, thanks much.
Purchased the Leica Q titanium gray back in early 2017. Absolutely love the camera. It has gone with me on many vacations and just around the neighbourhood. The summilux lens is amazing!!! This is the longest I have owned a digital camera.
Awesome thanks for watching!
This video is solid proof that how a great camera could do. You did really good job and seem like this camera served you so well!
great review Brad cheers. I bought a Q2 17 days ago and killed it 3 days ago. First short term impressions were good. Loved the battery life, love the images up to 3200 where I started to not like the amount of noise. I loved the weather sealing, the lens is gorgeous, I shot a lot on the final fateful night at 1.7 absolutely gorgeous. Loved the feel of the thing, it's solid compared to my other compacts like the X-pro and X100 line the Q2 feels mighty. I could definitely live without the 47mp the files are huge, I bought an external HD to store them. Anyways for the 16 weeks turnaround for repair I'll look out for a used Q. Liked and subbed mate. Oh yeah I killed the Q2 when a laser at an event twatted it munting the sensor.....
Thanks for the comment Paul - thanks for the sub too, I'm too busy working to give this channel any love. TH-cam videos take up a lot of time.
@@bfotosuk agreed mate luckily photography and making youtube vids keeps me slightly sane in the bat shyte crazy night.
The colors of the original Q are unmatched, the Q2 doesn't have the same look. Great photos!
Well that’s good to know! I’m in the process of getting a titanium gray Q
And image quality is just tremendous !
Hopefully will have a Q3 this year. Eagerly waiting.
I just won a eBay auction for one, for 2200$ I'm praying its a great replacement for my Canon 6D which I been using forever. im stationed in japan so I hope to document the journey. appreciate this video
Hi Julian, that's awesome! That's a great price too. I think it will be and what a cool country to be based. Cheers for the comment.
@@bfotosuk I got mine from ebay also for $2200 was a little bit worried about what I get but it came like brand new, so happy 😊
@@oleksandrk4853 How's your camera going? Good?
@@ryanxuxuxu yeah, it's great. Going to Grand Canyon to take some pictures next week:)
Bought a q2 used 2 weeks ago, looking forward to really using it.
Nice, have fun!
Absolutely love My Q, had it 18 months. One of my favourite digital cameras. I agree it is a classic. Image quality is amazing. Not the only camera I use but I never regret getting it.
Awesome, glad you like it!
Nice piece... I got a secondhand Q a few months ago after renting it a couple of times and I LOVE it... the EVF is starting to show its age a bit with discolorations that I've seen pretty uniformly in other used Q's... but otherwise its a fantastic instrument and one I have used with pleasure since owning it and look forward to using for years...
Have fun Andrew, good choice!
Bought mine used in 2019. Just checked and it's appreciated in value since then... For a digital camera that says a lot.
Got the Q almost 2 years ago. Still the best camera i ever owned. It‘s so easy to use and the quality is still outstanding. If the Leica stores in Germany are reopen i try to trade it in for the Q2.
Fingers crossed you can get a good deal on the Q2!
The Q-P has been my traveling companion for three years. I especially like the performance of its fast 28 mm lens which adds flexibility when shooting under low lighting conditions. For more serious shootings in B&W, I am using the new Q2M to learn more about the artistic aspects of photography. I will keep my Q-P for shooting family and landscape pictures. I do need to carry a couple more batteries when going on trips.
I’m personally gonna be buying a Q2 Monochrom in a week after renting one. I believe that the Q2M along with my M10 will be all I’ll need for a while. Until the Q3 Monochrom releases because I do want the better AF, USB charging, tilt screen, higher res EVF, and 60MP Monochrom sensor.
I was completely against the idea of a Q series camera until I rented the Q2M. Now I’m completely sold on it and love it to death!
Q 116 is still more than enough for me. Have fun with the new camera!
I'm getting another , sold my first 2 years ago and still miss it lol
Yes. i brought my Q1 to a wedding and the pictures are so awesome. My little niece looks extra cute in the Q pictures
Thanks for taking the time to make this video. I found it really helpful. Currently keen on the Q2 and you gave lots of insight as to how my ownership might pan out; like you I want a camera to keep and enjoy using regularly. I won’t be shooting same volume of images! I’ve been happy with 24MP from X-Pro2, but not viewfinder! Use GFX50S majority of the time and big change when looking at X-Pro2 files on monitor, but prints to 60x40cm are fine from it. So with the Leica lens, the Q might now feature in my plans.
This camera is really a must have even in 2021 and after. 24 Mpx is far enough, 28mm 1.7 with macro position is a dream from Leica when you know their minimum focus distance is 0,7m usually on the M system...
Just got mine as a second hand with less than 500 actuations for less than 2000€... the deal of the year I should say!!!
If anyone can find one in good condition without any dust on the sensor I can only recommand it!
I found one for 3000AUD. my only worry is taking pic under the rain as I want to use it as a daily or travel camera instead or carrying my D810 with lenses
@@moafaq5703 start by covering the speakers and microphones with tape. But yes it’s not a Nikon ! The Q2 is more meant for that
@@DidierMOULINPhotography thanks for the tip, if only i had the money as it’s 3x more expensive atm. 3k vs 9k AUD. how would u know about number of shots in used camera? I got reply from the shop saying “The Leica Q has no actuations count since the camera uses its lens central shutter (no curtain mechanism).”
@@moafaq5703 I know the Q2 is far too much expensive for now even on used market.
Only M8 and M9 allow shutter counts as far as I know. No way to count on the Q
The Q is a great camera! It’s my first Leica! It’s fun and easy to use. I take it out and shoot for the day! I don’t take it out in the rain but I have taken it out when it was snowing and it held up fine! I was careful with it but I enjoy using it in all types of conditions, morning, noon, night, inside outside... I’m thinking about a Qll but not sure. I like the option to change crop modes but I haven’t figured out a way to do it on the go!
Thanks for watching Reginald!
Thanks, great video. I have the Q1 24mp, I love it, I've always wanted a Leica, mine is fabulous to use with outstanding image quality, unique to Leica. A Q2 is double the price, double the Mp with the same buffer, some say higher noise, @ £4000 + like new used, I don't do video and I'm respectful in bad weather. I think my Q titanium is a keeper. My other camera's, lenses and iPhone cope with most things I need to shoot. The Q is my little diamond.
A diamond it is! I fully agree with all of your comments and views on the Q2! Personally think I’d prefer another Q (in better condition than mine) over a Q2 at the moment. Love the look of the titanium version! The QP would be a nice one, I think they look awesome.
Bought the Q2 reporter this week.
I would love to own a Leica Q or a Q2 at some point. I have had a used Leica CL for about 10 months and I absolutely love it. I think the colour rendition and image quality is roughly the same as a full frame Leica Q. For a crop sensor camera the Leica CL is outstanding. Image details on a large computer screen are impressive. I would highly recommended it.
I have the CL as well and love images that come out of it. The Q would be fun to own as well used at a good price.
I just sold my fuji stuff and am looking for a Q or Q2. I have not decided. I probably will right when I find a near pristine one. Thank you for this video, and for all the comments below, which were great.
Did you get the Q2? I expect that you still have the Q. Is what we have heard about the colors true; the image processor designed for 24mp but handling 47mp? Or is the Q2 just the same plus a bit more?
Great, honest review. I have a Q-P that I bought second hand. Even though I have several high end camera lenses, the lens on this camera never ceases to amaze me. The images it produces are exceptional. Used Leica Q's can be picked up quite reasonably these days and even though its five years old now, it is still an iconic camera. I sometimes think about upgrading to a Q2, but have resisted so far.
Iconic it is, yeah, apart from the weather sealing I can't see a reason to go to the Q2 personally.
Great Review. It's one of my fav camera for traveling, street photography and landscape.
Awesome, so small and compact
Nice video.
Was looking forward to others, including the Q2.
Will keep it in the shelf even if it stops working ❤️
Just ditched all my dslr kit and purchased the all black Leica Q with thumb up and handgrip !! Can’t wait to enter the world of Leica and looking forward to b&w and photos where the colors really ‘pop’👀
Recently got a QP and experienced some of the freezing issue, thanks for sharing your experience, gonna see if the 170 card solves the issue
I love my Q. Thanks for the advice on the memory card. I've had problems with it freezing up and I've lost photos from taking the battery out. I thought it was a battery issue but I'll try the faster memory card speed.
Yeah, give it a go I use the Sandisk Extreme Pro 170 MB'/s V30 64gb card.
I had the same problem and lost many potential shots whilst travelling. I tried many different memory cards and only use Leica batteries and it still happened. I went back to Leica, they couldn't find anything wrong with it. As soon as I collected it the problem started again. It was so frustrating! After about 3 months of Emails and visits to the Leica store Leica sent me a brand new one. So far no problems. It was still in warranty and I never found out what the issue was.
@@were4thnow3rd Interesting, seems like a big problem that wasn't talked about much. When I did a search for it, I couldn't find anything about it.
@@rudyortega3285 if you are still in warranty go change it. When mine froze the screen would show millions of multi coloured pixels, the only way was to remove the battery, I lost some really good shots due to it. I'm not a professional but if I was I would lose money. For a £4k camera it shouldn't be like this. Due to covid I haven't used it much but I'm ready and waiting for the green light, only then will I know if it's a genetic problem.
@@were4thnow3rd Unfortunately it's not under warranty. I bought it on Craigslist and got a really good deal on it last May. I've learned to slow down when shooting it and not putting it in burst mode and that does the trick. That's the only thing that frustrates me about the camera. That and the constant fogging up on the viewfinder from my mask, haha.
Hey Brad:) Nice video, just stumbled across it today because i often get the Leica Q videos in my feed every since buying my first several yers back. i like you adore this camera for many reasons. I actually bought my first a Titanium Q and sold all my Fuji gear to get one. I had it a few years shooting with it all over the place, mostly for my own work and holidays and free time , but also took it to some weddings as my 3d camera just as you said and its amazing for that. In some ways it carried the role of covering everything around the set special shots i instead took with my Nikon cameras( first kiss, ceremony etc), and some of my personal favorite shots were with the Q instead. Fast forward i for some reason decided to sell it and buy into Fuji again when the X100F and X.T3 came out, had that for a year and regretted it almost right away...thought long and hard and decided i had to have the Q again and then keep it. I sold all my Fuji gear....for the second time! ;) Then when looking around it was very difficult to find a regular Q here in Sweden. I had a long look at the Q 2 that had come out, but after watching reviews and reading up on it, i realized nothing except the weather sealing really appealed to me nor made it worth it for me to not get a regular Q. The solution came to me in the form of a Q-P, i got a discount on one and payed the same as for a regular Q and that made the decision easy for me. The Q-P is everything i loved with the Q and even better. i LOVE the look of the Q-P, probably the most beautiful camera i ever had. Then they made small fixes and changed the shutter button which was a really nice fix because that was one thing i wa s a bit annoyed with on the regular Q. And i sort of cured the GAS completely. never been happier, and this time like you im pretty sure il keep it until it drops:)
Awesome! Yeah, the tweaked shutter button on the QP looks great. I love how stealth the QP is.
Interesting…im considering selling all my Fuji stuff and realized ill be in the $4500 range which gets me closer to Leica q territory👀.
@@Burritosarebetterthantacos Its a good territory to be in hehe :)
I’m currently on the Fujifilm X100F, aka the “poor man’s Leica Q” lol But I am working towards trading my way up to a Q as soon as I’m able to! Absolutely gorgeous camera in nearly every aspect 📷
I'm on an X100V and thinking the same :)
Same, I recently purchased the wide angle teleconverter to get a taste of the 28mm equivalent focal length. Hopefully someday I'll get a Leica Q2.
Fuji is cool either way and you'll love the Q when you get one.
@@moncho33 u can shoot on any mobile phone to taste 28mm :p
Just try Ricoh GR3 instead. U’ll be much more inspired by this camera. And always take it anywhere with you.
I'm a Fuji shooter and have always wanted to give Leica a try and that Q2 Mono has really got my attention... Nice video...
beautiful images. thanks for the review
i managed to pick up a Q2 recently for a great price, a guy bought it new in November 2020 and subsequently decided he didn't want it and was selling it to get the SL2. It was like new with a leica leather case and leica uv filter and I got it for around 70% of the retail price. It was basically as new, with a warranty, and had clearly been used a handful of times at most. Felt so lucky and loving it so far
Love it when you get a bargain like that, have fun!
Sold mine, the only thing about it was low light and noise were bad, I wish it had bulb mode and better low light noise as iso 3200 was nearly unusable.
I shoot a fuji x Pro 2 ut have decided to go to a Leica and its the Q that I am going for, the gateway for Leica, cant wait!!!!
Hello from another Brad on the other side of the pond. I just got a used Q2 to use for wide angle and weddings and for personal/travel use. (I have photographed weddings for 22 years, started with film and Leica M3/M6/M7, currently using Sony as main system). What is your preferred focus approach with your Q? The biggest transition for me has been the slow speed of the contrast based AF, which reminds of me my original Fuji XPro1. I got on ok with that camera by always choosing AF point manually because it was pre face detection, etc. I’ve only had the camera for a few days, but my first wish is that the grip would allow access to battery with the short battery life, but not a deal breaker. Enjoyed your assessment and I do love the size. Very happy with the Sony system and great lenses, but they do get a bit heavy at the end of a long wedding…
Very good in retrospec manner. Thanks
photography newcomer, wanna get my first camera from Q3, now its crazy difficult to get one now, nice video by the way
Love my Q. No reason to upgrade to the Q2 unless you need to have 4K.
Weather sealing
I really like your true words about the q. I've owned a q2 for 2 years now. Used it, like you, on weddings and a lot on trips with my family. That means this camera is used every single day. I never cover it. It has scratches, but the weather and dust sealing worked super fine for me (even on the beach). Since two weeks I have one piece of dust in my viewfinder.
I have no problems with the file size. But I have to admit, I use JPG right in the camera 99% of the time (even on payed weddings). You should try it. When I looked at you photos presented in the video, I first thought, you were also shooting in JPG. I think, you would like the output you get. I think that mirrorless is the perfect start for JPG photography, since you see what you are photographing. So why bother hours with photo editing?
I also shoot JPEG on Q but I don’t think Q’s JPEG is what you see as there is always some Leica-feel on it. And that’s why I always shoot JPEG
I appreciate this comment… I’ve been looking at the Leica and for the very reasons you mentioned, plan on going with a Q. As a full-time pilot, I do not have hours to sit in front of my iMac that is usually 2000+ miles away from me at any given time. The idea of being a reformed RAW only shooter and converting into JPEG is only supported by the thoughts of the JPEG adopting that Leica look. Also, I love the idea that a camera of this footprint can pack such a punch. I can toss it into my flight bag and go! What’s the point of traveling the world if you can’t document it?!
Just got a new to me Q. Should be here in a week. Looking forward to shooting with it.
Awesome, you'll love it. Have fun!
Wonderful review Brad, and beautiful pictures you've shared here, keep up the good work! I've been feeling the Leica call for a while now and it's difficult not to consider the Q2 as an option to get into the system. Wonderful optics, weather sealing, a modern future-proof sensor, and the built quality that you can only expect from Leica. Thanks again, greetings from Edinburgh!
Thanks for watching Kevin, good luck when you find one, you'll love it!
I have sl2 but not using it at all for a year now and thinking of q2 just to keep it on my neck all the time when I am with my son going somewhere as it’s light and small.
Brilliant camera. Professional work can actually be done in this small packaging.
Shame I don't put mine into much use as I'm currently shooting more on film.
Are you selling?? :)
@@alexgoeke Will be keeping it for now :D
Enjoyed the video style very much, are the swimmers at Weston? Just bought my first Leica and it's a pristine 'Q' and I love it. It cost me more than £1200!!! but funded by the sale of my old equipment. I love the way the Leica Q looks, feels and shoots, I haven't found anything not to like. The simplicity of the menu is refreshing and it doesn't feel like a 'dated' camera. I use it alongside my Ricoh GR III for mainly street photography.
Great to hear such long term experience, and your captures are absolutely beautiful which is down to you more than the camera. Still, great watch
Q2 DNG files are uncompressed and (needlessly?) mahoosive, but LR can create compressed DNGs (Library menu) that appear to have the same processing latitude: from up 85MB per file to between 10-16MB. It's just part of my workflow now (although uncompressed saved on a backup drive).
Love this review, Brad! I just picked up the SL2-S two weeks ago, and you're making me want to pick up a Q as well 😅
Hi Aaron! Thanks for your kind words, how are you getting on with the SL2-S looks like a great camera that one, I think you should get yourself a Q the perfect partner to work alongside your SL2-S. Let me know how you get on.
@@bfotosuk went the other way with a SL2 and a Q-P. Excellent combo.
Yes. I had same issue with memory card freezing. For whatever reason, that seems to had gone away. Maybe i finally got one in that just happened to be good
Had the Q-P and absolutely loved that little beast...I only sold it to buy an M10-P and always regretted selling the Q...just recently I picked up the Q2 monochrom and I'm back to carrying my Q2 exclusively now ... I recommend any to get the Q or Q2 ..those cameras are so fun to use.
I sold my M10 for a Leica Q and have been ecstatic !!!
@@goorackerelite Nice 👍🏽...you won't regret it... it's a fun camera to use and easy to carry around everywhere...
feel exactly the same about my Q2 Monochrom.
How are you getting on with the Monochrome?
@@bfotosuk Low light performance is really really good. better then my sony a7rIII. and it has more megapixels then the a7rIII. I can send the pictures to my phone or ipad and edit them on the move which is super convenient.
The strange and somewhat interesting/unmesurable thing about it is its changed the way I shoot and think because of the nature of monochrom. Its removed any excuse I have to not take a picture so I shoot more then I ever usto.
I know this sounds really cheesie but it kinda like an expensive teacher in the form of a camera. Its given me a different way of thinking.
The only thing that took a bit of time to get usto was that it clips highlights pretty aggressively and you cant get that back ( more then a colour sensor camera) so I tend to underexpose more aggressivly to account for that. or even sometimes over expose with the intention of blowing highlights out. The M10 monochrom does exactly the same thing so I assume that its a behavior thats unique to monochrom sensors.
If you want to have a look at my snaps with the Q2Monochrom heres a feed which i made just for this camera (there are about 3 posts in there from the M10M but the rest of it is q2m):
instagram.com/street_photography_diaries/
I have never compared the two cameras, however I have read that in the Q files are much naturals and more analogical while in the Q2 the files are more electronic
I think this camera makes more sense as a used bargain in 2023. Around £2000 for this camera makes it a really worth while investment. If you buy a fuji x pro 3 and a lens you’ll be up at the 2k mark. I think this will prove to be a classic.
Yeah. Just a bit more expensive than a fujifilm x100v, But the Leica has so much more to offer.
Oh damn, if that Porsche was the 1989 in Seamist Green, I owned one of those. Anyway... I love the rangefinder "style" because I have a large nose and prefer to use the EVF vs the LCD. I can do that on this camera without smashing my nose against the LCD. As a third camera or second shooter, this camera is ideal for weddings and candid photos. The Q2 has improved ergonomics, weather sealing, and that big sensor. But is also has bad low light performance, the images above ISO 1600 are almost unusable, and those files take up a ton of hard drive space. Even now, the Q (or Q-P) might be the better option.
Thanks for the message Tom! Still love the Q. I've always thought if I lost it, got stolen or broken I'd just get another or a QP rather than by a new Q2/3
My favorite Porsche color of all time. Caught my eye too!
Wonderful review. Many thanks.
Late to the party, but I’m thinking of trading my 40D and some lenses for this and a few quid on top. Not sure if I’ll cope with going from a range of zooms and fixed 50m to this. But I think I can work with it.
Or keep my kit and get a G5X mkii. I dunno, but it’s my only chance to get a Leica.
Do it

Hi Craig, thanks for watching and your kind words. Let me know how you get on, try and get the safari version in green.
@@bfotosuk Haha - special editions are definitely out of my budget. The closest would be a Q-P, but I’ll likely just get the plain old regular Q.
Hi Brad, I enjoyed your video about the Leica Q. Did you purchase a Leica Q2? Did you see the Leica Q3? What are your thoughts on these? Are they enough to make you trade in your Leica Q for either of them? Lovely wedding photos you showed on your video. What photoshop program do you use for going through your photos? I purchased a like new Leica Q at an estate sale in 2020 for close to 5,000 CAD which I guess would be 2,500 pounds sterling. I've been extremely impressed with its simplicity and the quality of the images it generates. I had trouble getting accessories given the estate just had it in its original box an nothing else.
have my Q1 for a few years now. Only today that i realize that the screen at the back is off center hahaha. I thought that was something i did when i accidentally left it at my trunk.
Cool review!
May you share the link to buy the thumb rest ?
I honestly have no idea, I bought it 5 years ago.
Interesting review from a real photographer, thanks.
Very nice and informative review, Brad!
I bought a Q in 2019. Paid about $4K new. I am a complete amateur. I love the quality of the photos I get. And I can't really get enthused about buying an M or SL at this point, when I do a point by point comparison and consider the cost.
honestly I have way more fun with my Q than I did with any of my M's. The M's are just a little bit "too" serious for my liking.
@@goorackerelite Totally agree!!! The Q is all anyone really needs
I think about to buy Q-P,Q2 or X100V...👍
What do u end up with?
Hi, strange question...im one step
Away from getting a Q2, i would like to ask you, how do you see the Q in astro photo? (Milky way) concerning high iso and long exposure...i know there is not the bulb mode, but in the q2 is up to 60 seconds, which could be enough for me.
Thank you!
Hi, it's prob not the best camera for Astro, you maybe better with a SLR.
Hi Brad, any tip where to buy or sell used camera gear online? Private to private
Jeez, mate, you’ve convinced me, been tottering, now I’ve totally fallen. Got to get 1
Hi Geoff, thanks for taking the time watch the video and comment! If you can I think you'll be really pleased. I still use mine and love it, I think for most people it's all you need. I really hope you get one and love it as much as I do. Cheers, Brad
Bought the Q2 in December (after a substantial wait for it). I’ve never used a fixed lens camera before nor having to be restricted to a wide angle lens. However the camera is just stunning. It makes you you stop, think, compose and really think about what you are photographing, rather than just clicking away and hoping for the best (of which I have been guilty of in the past). It also does attract a lot of attention which makes engaging people in your photographs so much easier. I would like to think that in 5 years time it will still be my ‘go to’ camera !
Awesome thanks for the comment Peter, have fun with your Q2
Excellent review. Thanks.
The camera thumbnail makes it look like it spent time on the eastern front 1914-18
It’s a great camera, I have one and sold my Sony a7riv. The colors including skin colors are very good I really do very little on post processing, I rarely touch the colors. I am not upgrading to the q2 yet, as I think the skin colors are not as good as the q and low light is better on the q. Great pictures!
Thanks for the comment Douglas, I hope over time my Q will really start to look patinated and well worn. I think I'll end up with a Q2 at some point but will always keep my Q.
Hi! Can you tell me what memory card do you use oftenly or recommend for this camera? Because mine get tilted sometimes and I must to take off batteries to continue shooting. :( Thanks!
Hey Brad! Nice video. What Rolex are you rockin? Thanks and keep up the great Leica Q content.
14060m 😉
When will Q2 in silver release and is it ideal to paint the red color marker on the lens to yellow like the black color edition? I really love yellow and wish the imperial number markers on the lens are yellow too even for silver color
Great video. Very informative! Subbed!
like your documentary pictures
Thanks Ben.
Interesting view on the Q being it’s quite old now. I bought a Q2 in Australia last year for an absolute bargain price of $5000. I had to sell it recently due to financial situation and was gutted. I’m now thinking about down stepping to the Q but I’m not sure how I’m going on feel about it. The photos you displayed certainly look amazing. But I liked the weather sealing, higher res and better battery life. As well as the firmware. But they have the same lens.
I guess you've gotta ask yourself how big a deal is it to carry another battery, do you get caught in the rain and how often do you actually need a 45mp file?
I have a leica Q too. Some forums said that the leica Q suffers from the dust sensor after a period of use. I don't see it being on my device. Do you have that problem? Thanks!
Hi! Thanks for the comment, yes I've got dust on my sensor but only really notice it if I'm stopped all the way down to F11/F16 which if I'm honest isn't that often. I do plan to get it sent off to Leica UK for a sensor clean etc...
@@bfotosuk Thanks!
Brad, it absolutely sucks that I’ve been trying to get my hands on a Q2 since December and they have been back ordered since. I don’t get it!!! I really want one badly.
You should keep an eye out on MPB they have had a few over the last month or so! If you're happy with pre-owned.
Really great review 😁👍
Can you get a shutter replacement after the shutter count dies and start over again
No idea, I contacted Leica 18 months ago about this, still no reply! If it fails I'll get it fixed - it's easily surpassed my expectations.
How do you clean the sensor?
Good question! You have to send the camera back to Leica, I think Leica Mayfair in London can do it which is good, saves boxing it up and sending it off to Germany.
Cover up the little holes for Mic and Speaker with sticky strips. You can't clean the sensor yourself, so just block the holes. Of course you have to remember to peel them off if videoing!
@@KONAMAN100 Yeah I know a few people who've got a bit of tape over the mic holes on the top, good tip!
@@Leicam10 Yeah, I think unless you're shooting over say 800/1600 ISO the Q is pretty timeless, I think the evolution of the EVF will be the one place where the Q may start to show it's age but it's still more than good enough. The lens is fantastic isn't it.
@@Leicam10 this will not happen with the Leica Q2
Surprised you didn't mention its a 28mm lens. I only noticed because that has always been the deal breaker for me with this camera. Just a smidgen too wide. 35-40mm is my sweet spot for street photography . . . which is what I'd use it for. Come on Leica, make a Q with a 35 or 40mm lens. Pleeeease.
Jumped from Q to Q2 and its worth it in just the weather sealing and the 50/75 crop modes
Awesome, yeah having that extra resolution for cropping would be good! I'm not a big cropper but would still be great to have the option.
It was $3,00 US and I had to wait about a month but it was well worth it!
