I have never written a comment before but something told me I should. Not only are your videos helpful but you have a pretty kick ass personality. Keep on doing your thing, you truly stand out.
GREAT VIDEO! But yes your background music is TOO LOUD and it's distracting when I'm trying to concentrate. I appreciate your Leica Q suggestions as I am considering buying one soon.
If I decide to leave FujiFilm's x-series, the Leica Q is probably the camera I would get. Excellent tips! I am looking forward to seeing more of your work.
I just got the Leica Q P, your video help me a lot. One question I have, what settings other than color can you save in the profiles.? Can you may be do a video explaining it. Thanks
I really like your information about the use of the Leica Q. I am old school and because of bad eyesight i got the Leica Q. I still keep my Leica M3 and the Leica 2f. If I sell those , I am pretty sure I regret it later on . Keep up your splendid work with your information. You was a better help to me , then the information about the Leica Q on paper. A message from Denmark Copenhagen.
Good work. Insightful. And you frame it with humility "But that's just my opinion". I'm happy to watch your stuff because you explain the practical side of things. More useful than some of the comments from losers that forget that photography is fun. Maybe they have a bad life.
Really appreciate the kind words. It’s easy to ignore the haters when there are so many more wonderful people out there like yourself. Wish you all the best 🙏🏽
Great review. For me, the Q is the perfect camera. It just works, as an extension to your hand. Not everyone, however, can justify the cost but the juvenile haters can stew in their bitterness. Get a Fuji and move on. For me, one of the best features is to shoot handheld at night at 1/8th second, even slower with some support. Started with 35mm lens but find the 28th much better for street and architecture. Word is a Q2 may emerge this year but it will be years before this model becomes obsolete. The M10, heavier, three times more expensive, and the 28mm will show in the viewfinder.
I just saw your video today and it is very helpful. I would like to ask however on where to find the electronic level as I noticed that you have it on your Q. Thanks!
Have you had any issues with it getting stuck in auto aperture or displaying the wrong fstop while shooting in all manual? Mine just started doing that today.
Usually, I find this sort of video a bit tedious as a two-year Q user. But I really like the things you selected and I had no idea that EVF Extended thingy existed. One thing you could also mention is the focus meter on the top of the lens - it’s not exactly ‘hidden’ but I’ve never seen anyone mention it and it’s amazingly useful if you’re shooting events with people or objects coming toward you, too fast for the autofocus. Oh, but please, please stop doing “air quotes”. Seriously. You used them wrong at least once or twice.
I use a few user settings. A couple for street photography. It's appears I cant program the EVF Extended option for a profile. It's either on or off for all settings. That is a shame.
I have a strange problem with my Leica Q. With all controls (including the aperture) set to A the aperture remains fixed at 1.7, with the other controls (ISO, shutter speed) changing with light conditions. Manually changing the aperture using the aperture ring works well, but the automatic position doesn't seem to work. Any suggestions?
Another great informal video. I like how acknowledge your opinion instead of seeming like everything is a fact. And good photos, too. Keep up the good work and presentation style. If you’re ever in western WA, I’ve got connections on letting you snap with a M Typ 246 for a few hours. Let me know!
Great Tips & Channel! I'm also on the fence about getting the Q because it's so old. I was looking at the M10 with 28 2 which is about 11k Or go with the Q even though it's much older its the exact set up I want with at a fraction of the cost. What's your take?
If you have the money, go for the M10 with the 28mm! You never know what lenses you’ll want to try in the future and that system will last you so much longer before it starts to be obsolete!
dodi rashed yeah just doing the math I could buy the Q right now and once the Q2 comes out purchase that one and still save 3k then buy not buying the M10 and 28mm 1.4 lens for it. That’s not even including what I can make selling the old Leica Q. Thanks for knowledge!!
Willy Wone why would you want a Q2 if have the original Q? If you decide for the M system you may want to check out voigtlander 21 f1.8 Ultron, amazing lens for a fraction of the Leica cost
Hi Tyler! Thanks for the video! Just ordered a Q today :-) Did you face any dust problems on the sensor due to the microphone holes or know, if that probem has been solved with later production years?
Processing film costs nothing, that's the printing that costs because of the paper. But if you know someone with a scanner, you can scan the negatives. Of course, films are not free either but it teaches you not to shoot anything ;)
True! I’m in the 10,000 hours school of thought though. Yes you shouldn’t shoot anything, but at the same time you should shoot everything until you get 10,000 hours of practice!
I personally disagree, I shoot film for the fun and honestly shooting film may look intimidating for its price but no it's not even for me as a highschool student who is in the middle class & doesn't work, being inside a community full of photographers who shoot film and digital, they almost ditched digital because of how expensive it gets when upgrading daily because of their features which also equals with the price of shooting film everyday (buying and developing on labs). The two has advantages although for me, I guess I'd grab a leica film rather than a digital leica that'll fade its quality after a thousand years where 100 megapickles is average. but hey, film is just another way of photographing there's no difference with it with digital anyway, except you can keep the memories on negatives and learn to prevail yourself from being a happy trigger and learn to do a better composition for photos :)
Hello Alejandro. Of course, with 10k picture, film is really expensive. I'm far from it (although I shoot much more than a couple of rolls per year). You think in terms of digital and try to compare to film. This is not how I think, I adapt my behaviour to the medium, film is film and digital is digital. You don't shoot film lie you shoot digital. Film is cheap if you stick to black and white (you are right on that point) and you think that each picture could be important. You're saying yourself that you use film because you like it and probably shoot differently no? If you read my first message carefully, this is what I wrote. 2nd thing: remember that with digital you have to take into account other costs: hardware (evolves quickly, and storage for 10k pictures/year is not cheap), software (these Adobe subscriptions are not cheap either). What is the cost of all this? Personally I store my pictures on 2 different 2To hardrives and change them every 2-3 years (one fails, or they become obsolete or too small). I have an Adobe subscription, 12€/month too. Compared to films (around 5€ / 36 poses) + cost of chemicals (around 10-20 cents / film)... well it probably depends how much you shoot but generally, people who have never tried film think it is extremely difficult and expensive. I don't think it is, I always encourage people to try both, like you do if I understood correctly.
The Leica Q had my favorite black & white output from any camera outside of monochrome sensors. Here is a shot I took at ISO 3200 and a high shutter speed just to get some of that grain structure... flic.kr/p/uwkQ9g
Leica Q hack .. Get a used Canon 6D mounted with a Leica elmarit R 28mm f2.8 with a R to EF adaptor. Then take your Canon raw file and process them with a leica Q JPG preset available for lightroom and photoshop. With the R lens you can even shoot film on various film body including leica R body and other since your R lens can fit on almost anything with the correct adaptor ....
I have never written a comment before but something told me I should. Not only are your videos helpful but you have a pretty kick ass personality. Keep on doing your thing, you truly stand out.
That means so much to me honestly. Extremely sorry for the late reply. Thank you so much for your kind words
This is really useful and should be compulsory viewing for all Leica Q owners! Owning a Q is a bit of a journey and it really helps to have a guide.
Glad I could help! This video is meant for the beginners, not for people who have been shooting for a long time ☺️
GREAT VIDEO! But yes your background music is TOO LOUD and it's distracting when I'm trying to concentrate. I appreciate your Leica Q suggestions as I am considering buying one soon.
This was the most helpful Leica q video and what a lovely genuine human you are x
Thank you so much!
If I decide to leave FujiFilm's x-series, the Leica Q is probably the camera I would get. Excellent tips! I am looking forward to seeing more of your work.

Hi, is firmware update still possible for the Q? Thanks.
Thanks for the tip on the extended viewfinder mode!
Thanks so much for this information! Very helpful. Maybe lower the music volume in the future, it really muddles the information you are sharing.
Noted!
Thanks, Tyler, that was exactly what I needed as Q newcomer.
Thank you for watching!
Great tips for new photographers love the evf extended tip

Is there any way to make the EVF brighter?
Unfortunately I don’t think there is a way
@@firsthandaccount Ughhh.. I picked up a used one this afternoon in really good shape... I wish the EVF and monitor were brighter in sun.
Have you had any issues with it getting stuck in auto aperture or displaying the wrong fstop while shooting in all manual? Mine just started doing that today.
The old range finder focus sistem can be a pain in the axx in some instances, but a large amount of people swear by.
One of the best vids for the q thanks!

Try updating the firmware! I know about this issue and unfortunately it is a regular behavior of the Q

Love the QP!
Hi Tyler! Thanks for the video! Just ordered a Q today :-) Did you face any dust problems on the sensor due to the microphone holes or know, if that probem has been solved with later production years?
I would definitely tape up the mic holes as soon as you get the camera! And then you should be fine!
thanks very much
can you print out the photo on canvas about 1 metre size?thanks
Definitely! I have printed a bunch of 24x36 inch prints from the Leica Q!
Thanks. Keep the Q videos coming.
Nice video. If the Q2 comes out with an interchangeable lens system, then count me in.
Bad luck
Do you know where is the hidden MENU to find shutter count?
I'm wondering what type of memory card do you use in your Q?
I use this one! amzn.to/3p0Vh13

Leica Film Camera + any M-Mount that is basically cheaper or good + Descent Scanner = Life hacks
Alejandro Ilukewitsch what do you basically mean by "for those who don't shoot"?

Mate, you just gave me the perfect excuse not to sell me Q after getting my Q2. It’s My mono camera now……
So you dont have money to buy film or process it but you can afford a leica Q...humm interesting
Hahaha I can understand the confusion. I left a high paying job to pursue my dream of a creative career, so I’m basically back at square one again 😭
Good video, bad music
I agree totally
thanks for the kind comment roberto!
The music is too much- again hate the quotations gesture u repeat a lot while talking, rest amazing video 👍🏻
Thanks so much for the feedback 🙏🏽
@@firsthandaccount I like your gestures! That's you! I like your authenticity!
firsthandaccount the music is fine imho
I shoot film because i can't afford a Leica Q.
Really useful vid, but please change your background music loop (it drove me mad)
I bought the Q because of this video
That lame "music" loop is too annoying to watch this.
You're probably a nice guy, but you're background music drive me crazy, sorry I can't listen to this, otherwise good content
Man watching this video again years later, I can tell you I hate that song now too hahaha
