Great video. Would like your opinion on this, I am looking for a camera to record my daughter soccer games. I use a iPad before in a floor stand to record a game. Quality is good but following players smoothly , zooming in and out and then combining the video and moving the video between equipments to editing is all less than ideal. My daughter loved that I recorded her and I enjoyed capturing the game. So I feel very keen to invest on this, and maybe could be something serious in the near future. I watch now several videos of sport recording, and my choices are a Magnus VT4000Pro stand, a Libec zoom controller and price wise this camera seems reasonable on price, compare to a PXW-Z150 Sony for example. What you think. Hope the zoom controller is compatible can't see on the specs that the is a port of this external device. Have you tried this streaming on Facebook or TH-cam? I imagine to can stream and save the video. Last I guess an external microphones with a windshield cover will be required in case there is wind when recording on an open football (soccer) field, right. Thanks for your time.
Very nice presentation, good quality! Thank you, I'll share it with some friends! Did you use the same Panasonic for your presentation? Probably an external mic? Thank you.
Lovely video. I need some tips. I travel a lot and shoot video and pics of urban outdoors (streets, historical places), indoors (galleries, cathedrals, museums) and sometimes landscapes. I can't decide what camera (FX, mirrorless, DSLR or camcorder), gimble etc. Is camcorder compatible with gimble?
Can you take photos with this camera while recording video? I have a 10 year old tm900 that works flawlessly and allows you to take a photo while recording video but it does not do 4K only 1080p/60
TH-cam recommended this video to me, and I honestly don't know why? I'm not trying to be rude, but if I'm gonna spend about $1600 I'm gonna get the gh5 with the lieca 12-60mm F2.8-4 lens. That also does 4k60, has a bigger sensor, can shoot 10bit, shoot 6k, and have interchangeable lenses. I just don't get the hype. I think you did a good job on the review, just don't see why anyone would want a camcorder, over a mirrorless camera. My personal opinion.
I dunno man. Thanks for the compliment on the review but as for what it was recommended, I don't know. Yes. A mirrorless is much better for most people. This kind of camera has a very narrow market
@@csamd9049 that's funny. The gh5 is pro camera that delivers cinematic video. People use it professionally for music videos, and for movies. But it's cool. If you wanna camcorder buy one.

Have you experienced any hissing issues with the external mic input? I have just received the camera and I noticed when I plugged any mic or any 3.5 cable into the external audio input, there is a constant hissing sound that isn't coming from the mic or cable. It looks like a camera issue and isn't fixable with gain settings.
I just laugh at all those film maker wannabees, specially on TH-cam, struggling to shoot good video on an DSLR etc. To them I say go and buy a proper video recorder like on of these, and do the job properly with no compromises.
especially when they cry complain throw fits because it does not do a certain thing or what they want i have said many time on those sites get a camcorder it settles all your complaints
Plus a DSLR allows you to change lenses, and adjust fstop and iso more exactly. With a DSLR you can take photos with the same device instead of carrying two devices. If there is enough light, a cell phone with 4k can be a good second camera especially for wide shots while using the DSLR for everything else....... Even if a specific DSLR crops the video image so it is not using the full sensor, at least you have the option of changing lenses to get the image you want
These tiny sensors give great depth of field, but awful dynamic range and dreadful low light performance. There’s no doubt that an aps-c sensor or full-frame gives far far far better quality, albeit in a more difficult to handle form. This sensor on this, is really tiny, buy a Panasonic fz2500 bridge camera and look at the difference; it’s so much better!
@@mikehillproject Once you factor in the cost of all those lenses, a separate monitor and the frustration of lugging around a frankencamera, a camcorder doesn't look too bad.

Great review. I got the x1500 and it’s a great upgrade from my previous cameras. One issue for me though is their viewfinder with my far-sighted eyes. I thought optical zoom has always been better than digital zoom. Also I figured you was going to tell then why digital zoom sucks when started to mention about having the computer do the zooming.?? Great review, best regards.
Your slightly out of focus a fair bit around the camera. did not really get a good look at features and Battery life = hrs ?. Supose it takes another style battery to earlier panasonic cameras also ?. . can it fit a lense cover also. ?.
I would never buy a camcorder without XLR inputs for audio. I ordered a zoom Q8 in april of 2020. It was delivered in September of 2020! Why the long delivery time? My best guess is it the only camera under 1000$ with xlr inputs! When the Corona hit us everybody wanted to stream with good audio hence the the out of stock situation in combination with all of the east shutting down production. So why does so few cameras have xlr inputs? That’s my question.
This camera has a much smaller sensor than the GH5. It won’t do as well in low light. It probably won’t have as much dynamic range either. It is a nice, all-in-one setup, but the lens is built-in. It has a huge zoom trange, which adds versatility, but it is a variable aperture and if there is something it can’t do for you, you can’t change it. I’d say the GH5 is going to be the better camera for documentary work, but it will cost more once fully set up.
I was tettering on snagging one of these and the thing that pushed me over to the Canon model was it's small sensor size. It just isn't going to have the low light capability (as good) and the creamy BOKEH that a 1" sensor will. I'm sure it is excellent, but those two things are what makes a camcorder different from a phone camera.
This camcorder stopped recording and didn’t make a sound. Also when I press the record button it doesn’t make a sound letting me know it started recording. This is important for me since I record diys and once I’m in the zone I’m not constantly looking at the display to see if its recording. Is there a way for me to turn on the button’s sound?
Thanks for sharing I film Birds of Prey in the sky with my Sony FDR AX53 but find when tracking them the camera goes in and out of focus what that Panasonic but better for me I was thinking of the Panasonic HC-X 2000.
So I have a question if u get a 4k camcorder will it work with a a laptop that's 6 years old or so and has a Windows 10 on it will a 4k be compatible with it ????
Let me tell you something:Your lap top or desktop will work with 4k only if that one has a good processor and good memory ram, also has an screen who accept that resolution.Intel processor with a 2.5 or more with hiper treading tech the one who force the processor to increasse the speed and clock to response, the ram cuold be 16.Also hdmi input. You must know if after conecting or playing an 4k video is smoth or freeze also the screen show more acurate the video, otherwise your lap top doesn't work for 4k. Greetings
Some owners have complained about difficulties with operation of this camcorder due to the small size. They are using full auto mode all the time. Any comments?
You can but I would likely recommend the canon or a6400 for content creation. The camcorder is nice and is good for people who need a camcorder but as a TH-cam content creator i think the camera option is better. An M50 is 1/3rd the price and also allows you to take high quality pictures for thumbnails and has a lot of options versus a $1500 camcorder
Is the IS really as good as the ax53? I downgraded cameras as I got old and my hands are shaky now and the IS in my my 4K $1800 Vixia was not good enough and my shoots make gimbals impractical. The AX53 saved my ass and my shots look smooth despite my shaky hands. I feel the BOSS image stabilization is Magical. But I keep looking for a better under 2K Camera that has something like BOSS and I have yet to find it.
Panasonic AG-UX90 or Sony FDR-AX700? Which one would you choose for interior shots hand made products ( some macro shots) with continuous video lights.
Hmm, this X1500 has exactly the same 1/2.5" sensor and 25-600mm (eq FOV) lens as the VXF1 which is less than half the price. The VXF1 is the same price as the bestseller AX53 another 1/2.5" 27-540mm camera. Definitely, the X1500 has ND filters a 3.5" 2.75M screen and 4K/60fps but a lot bigger than the VXF1 or AX53. For this price we can buy a 1"-sensor Canon G60 (26 - 380mm, ND filter, but no 4K/30 only). Very hard decision, and we have the fantastic 1"-sensor RX10iv with its awesome 24-600mm lens (yes, 1" sensor with a 24-600 lens). Very tough competition, still if you definitely need 4:2:0 10bit UHD 3840x2160 59.94p/50.00p HEVC 200M or 4:2:2 10bit UHD 3840x2160 29.97p/25.00p/23.98p 150M with 25-600mm zoom, and you are ok with the low light performance of an 1/2.5" sensor (practically the same as in smart phones), then this is the camera, sure.
In general camera have two significan disadvantages - no USB charging / no external charger, and USB 2 (USB T.W.O in 2020). But it not a bummer. Huge advantages is 25-600mm *powered zoom*, small size, good battery life (but I dont get 4h), infrared mode, ND filters. And most important its very fun to use. And, even if its not super sharp as more advanced FF cameras with expensive lenses, its just different feeling, you just "grab and go" and you can use "one button mode" and dont bother with settings etc. Very nice, but kind of overpriced. Made in Malaysia, not China. Only my concert that its not dust proof. Are you going to buy a handle? Thanks for slow-mo, I didnt figure it out, not obvious.....

I am using a $40 mic, so the sound is not that great, but by the water I figured I won’t need a high tech mic, but I would like to upgrade to get better sound and I thought I may buy the XLR . Purchasing a better mic it may solve the problem for less price than the cost for XLR.
Which mic you use?
good review ! do you think it will fit on a Zhiyun Weebill-S ? one more question will the ibis work @ 4k 30P 10-bit 4:2:2 ?
Thank you.
I used it portions of the video, yes. I used an external microphone
I believe so but I don’t have the camera anymore to test it out so I can’t say for sure. Sorry.
Which is better x1500 or x2000 for 4K 60fps usage. Also how is the stabilisation whilst walking?
But it doesn't allow switching the lens, right? For professional use, it is a very important feature, so it may not be the choice for videomakers.
As far as I know, no. There is no ability to change lenses. It's fixed
DSLR and mirrorless cameras are for indy filmmakers, they are not good for professional filmmakers.
A camcorder is needed to shoot video, the GH5, like any photo camera, is much worse in most shooting scenes.
@@TechOdyssey The mirrorless is just a lot worse for most. All these mirrorless cameras just suck for video
@@csamd9049 that's funny. The gh5 is pro camera that delivers cinematic video. People use it professionally for music videos, and for movies. But it's cool. If you wanna camcorder buy one.
@@csamd9049 why are you mad at mirrorless cameras. Lol. No disrespect. The mirrorless camera might seem like it's about pictures. But take a look at the sony a7siii. That camera is a beast. Just saying. Mirrorless is the future.
Have you experienced any hissing issues with the external mic input? I have just received the camera and I noticed when I plugged any mic or any 3.5 cable into the external audio input, there is a constant hissing sound that isn't coming from the mic or cable. It looks like a camera issue and isn't fixable with gain settings.
have you tried underexposing by a stop and then boosting it with curves in post? Might give more pleasing rolloff to those nasty clipped highlights.
@@mikehillproject @Green FOCUS Cheaper? You have to have 3 lenses to do the same job that ONE lens does on the camcorder. 35-600mm. DSLR have total garbage Autofocus in comparison, Sound? HAH! Dont even get me started. You have to buy bundles on bundles. A "Pro" DSLR Setup looks like Lego. DSLR Are for photo, but you can film with it end of story :)
Great video, but What camera are you using to shoot this video with?
My Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra
Idk if anyone can help me or if the guy who made this video will see this but at 3:50 you said something about connecting a controller.... What controller? I'm new to all this camera stuff and am caught up with LANC ports and whatnot. Can I connect any controller or does it have to be a specific kind? Thanks again.
The controller is an app on your phone or tablet. Not a physical one. You can control the camera with it
@@TechOdyssey thanks for the reply! Do you know of any physical controllers?
I would like to put a camcorder on a stand to record a chamber music. Usually is in low light condition (churches, theater, etc.....). 30min limit is a problem for me thinking of DSLR. Do you think will this record video any good?
I still use Camcorders in 2021.. so, thanks for covering this type of camera
You're welcome
ThankGod Someone has talked about shutdown issue. BTW the lense looks replaceable, is it?
When was this camcorder launched? I thought it was quite old now.
It was announced at CES in January of this year.
I have Sony PJ760 bought it in 2013. The camera is a beast!
No its not.
Great review, shocking how few of the current generation understand how cool some of the old camcorders were. Happy with 1080 can't afford this? Pick up a pre-loved Pana SD900 3 Chip camcorder great picture quality for its time £250 ish 12x optical zoom 50fps Also Sony NEX VG20 for interchangeable lenses £500 ish
Remember though X1500 fixed lens as SD900
Have two of these cams sd900, been using them on the atomos ninga v to record straight from hdmi to prores at 1080p 50fps then convert to 60fps using davinci resolve studio optical flow as most online content looks better for the viewer online as most monitors are standard at 60hz so the frame rate needs to match 60fps for silky smooth video ,the quality is amazing ,have the hc-vx990 4k but to be honest i prefer the 3mos chip.Very lucky to get a good one now, have seen a couple on eBay for between £250-350
Having shot TM700 for a decade in 1080 60P...and only imagine the offering 2020?
BTW, still shooting great video today.
Thanks for the review. Looking at the Sony NX80 and other lightweight prosumer models like this X1500. Any thoughts on others I should consider in this range, or which you think is overall stronger?
I would have to look at price and features, really. This is my first time ever reviewing a camcorder so I'm not overly familiar with the competitive field. Thanks for watching
Low light X1500 is terrible
@@AutospeciLvAkumulatoriReally ??
@ yes, worse than phone. I own a x1500. Good camcorder, but only in normal light situation.
@@AutospeciLvAkumulatori not true. It's working just fine for me in low light. No, it can't see in the dark but most pros don't need that. We understand that wealth video requires a certain minimum of light.
Excellent review, well done. keep them coming
good info, thanks! One Q.: is the zoom variable by knob, only in the menu of booth? does it start from zero slow to max and ending slow? please more info about the zoom options. Thanks.
How much time can go in a battery life? Would you recommend it for live streaming pilates in a small studio?
I’m new to cameras and trying to learn more. Can you put a filter on this x1500? Is it smart to get an ND filter? Or no bc it already has nd filter built in? Is it wise to just get a clear filter if no don’t need nd filter since already built in?
Great review. I got the x1500 and it’s a great upgrade from my previous cameras. One issue for me though is their viewfinder with my far-sighted eyes. The characters thru the viewfinder are sooo small that I can’t see them clearly. My other cams had lens adjustment so I could adjust it into focus for my eyes to see.
Does anyone else have this issue with the viewfinder?
I am very happy with my Sony HDR-CX405 which is just as good. BTW how come you do not reply to any comments?
Hi! I'm new to this kind of world
What could I use a camrecorder for?
Like what do you suggest I can use it for? And also is it possible for mini movie shooting
Dear Sir, can you use this camera as an professional webcam ?
What is the difference between shooting with this one or a camera?
Good honest review. Thankyou.
You're welcome. Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching.
looks like it has a built in ND filter system too. didn't hear that mentioned? could have missed it. looks like the lens isn't very fast though either (low F-stop) so probably not good in low light?
Need help with my new X1500. When connected to my TV through HDMI I got no signal ???? 2hen I Connect my Sony Cx405, it's working ? Do I need to set something in the menuor to follow a stricted process of connecting ? I got this camera few days ago ????
Look like beast, i will use for sport or news for long time shoot.
I want to start a basic youtube channel. What camcorder or Camera do you recommend for this. I just want something basic and straight to the point. I will have someone else fix the video after i record it
Good review. Next time you might want to process your voice with less treble and a bit more mid and low end...it's kinda harsh the way it is now. Still, nice review.
Thanks. I appreciate it. Also, that was my old mic. I've since replaced that. I appreciate it though.
Which is better the Canon XA50 or the Panasonic X1500?
Hello sir.... witch camera is lowest price and better for making of short films ?
So the 120fps is ONLY for super slow motion? You can't set it to record at that frame rate normally?
Correct
Have I heard the camera can stream over WiFi? What do you exactly mean? Do you mean this camera can send "clean HDMI output" over WiFi to your PC? If that is the case, that's amazing.
It has the built in capability to live stream video directly to Facebook, TH-cam and other places using RTMP. It's really cool
A built-in microphone....but does it have a microphone jack?
Yes. It does
You can get the optional handle with XLR connectors and a variable led light.
Autor speaking about the visuals: It´s nice, it´s crisp, it´s clear, you have really good detail upclose....
TH-cams compresion: I gonna stop you right there!
What I would like to know: How good is the stabilization of this camera? Is it good enough film while you are walking? Or even good enough to film while running?
Running? Maybe you need a Go Pro. Smh.
This compared to the Canon G50/G60....which one do you go with?
Canon...I just like their flesh tones.
Great review -- how does it stand up to the GH5? looking for a small camera for documentary production, 4K delivery. Major network. Thanks!
Bob Nagy what Canon did you buy?
A 1 inch sensor does not guarantee low light performance, even the larger micro four thirds sensors struggle in some low light situations.
This camcorder stopped recording and didn’t make a sound. Also when I press the record button it doesn’t make a sound letting me know it started recording. This is important for me since I record diys and once I’m in the zone I’m not constantly looking at the display to see if its recording. Is there a way for me to turn on the button’s sound?
the internal mic is crap get the HC-X2000 and have professional XLR inputs
Awesome,, i like panasonic HC-X1500 👍🏻😊
Thanks for sharing I film Birds of Prey in the sky with my Sony FDR AX53 but find when tracking them the camera goes in and out of focus what that Panasonic but better for me I was thinking of the Panasonic HC-X 2000.
Can you use a separate 4k TV as a monitor while recording in 4k? My ax100 won't do that.
Nice camcorder, but sensor size makes image quality grainy in interiors even with abundant light conditions.
OK, a question for you. What camera did you shoot this video with? It looks AMAZING?
Honestly I don't remember... it's been so long. Maybe the Note 10 Plus?
What is your view about macro videography with this device?
How is the autofocus.
Are you doing any more videos of the hc-1500
WHY THE CAMCORDER CUT OFF 30MIN
I don’t know how they would be an issue but I didn’t have problems with it. I thought it was a decent size for being able to use
@@TechOdyssey Thank you!
Can I use this for TH-cam content creation instead of Canon M50 or Sony A6400?
You can but I would likely recommend the canon or a6400 for content creation. The camcorder is nice and is good for people who need a camcorder but as a TH-cam content creator i think the camera option is better. An M50 is 1/3rd the price and also allows you to take high quality pictures for thumbnails and has a lot of options versus a $1500 camcorder
but for REAL WORLD videographers does it have excellent image stabilization that equals the Sony ax53 or a gopro, pocket osmo etc ?????
Is the IS really as good as the ax53? I downgraded cameras as I got old and my hands are shaky now and the IS in my my 4K $1800 Vixia was not good enough and my shoots make gimbals impractical. The AX53 saved my ass and my shots look smooth despite my shaky hands. I feel the BOSS image stabilization is Magical. But I keep looking for a better under 2K Camera that has something like BOSS and I have yet to find it.
What is the color depth? Will it do 4:2:2 10 bit color?
What is the latest cam corder now?
Is this better than the sony ax53?
Could you possibly do some more videos of the 1500 camcorder
I'm looking at getting one of these. I use a Lumix S5 which is great but i'll relegate it to a B-cam and make the 1500 my main A cam
I didn't get a handle for it. I did figure out slow-mo. Did you not see the demonstration in the video? I talked about how to enable it and the formats that it allows
@@TechOdyssey Yes, thanks! Just commented in the middle of the video :) Would be interesting if you show app for control. Instruction (or quick manual) kinda not cover many things...
@@rendermanpro well, it was really more of an overview and demonstration video than an in-depth video on how to use every single feature. Plus I'm not an expert. This is the first camcorder I've ever reviewed and I had to extensive research just to put this together.
One more advantage - live stream :-)
What mic are you using for your video?
I have a yeti mic now. Can't remember if I used it for this video or not. I think I got it after.

I don't know what all the fuzz is about. I am working with camcorders allmost all my life. All the "features" are well known old technoligy like the flip screen. Continues recording la something a camcorder is known for. Also the optical zoom, that is build in sinds the early 80's. It's a nice camera though but don't act like it's something so special, yes it's other than a phone or DSLR, it's a video camcorder. Build for the purpose.
The buzz is simple; lots of people forget that camcorders still exist. A lot of people are chasing after DSLRs and mirrorless cameras to do both photography and videos. The way DSLRs and mirrorless cameras are costing fortunes, I believe a lot of people might be considering alternatives in terms of cameras for videos.
thanks for the review, nicely done. Question, is there a log or raw picture profile?
I'll check and get back with you.
No, it doesn't. Cine-like D and V is closest.
Cinelike D can be tweaked quite a bit to make it even flatter bit to me looks pretty decent as it factory preset.
