We tear into our biggest project yet! A one owner 1973 datsun 240Z, and we find decades of rust hidden behind some very questionable bodywork.

Holy fuck, well done guys. When I saw you pulling the glass of the left rear quarter I kinda thought y'all were going to find a new shell. Major props for putting in the work to revive this car

Your right, normally we would deny a job a like this. But its for a very special friend and I dont think anyone else would have ever gave the car a chance

The beginning of that video is so heartbreaking (for the car and his owner), but the end is full of hope! Can't wait to see the next steps and the final result!
Some of the shit y’all pulled off especially in the beginning looked like it could have been saved and got me pissed the fuck off but regardless I’m sure the owner is gonna replace it all anyway, but you’re in it deep now so do the work and do it right. Rooting for you guys as I have a Z of my own I’m working on!

This series is going to take off for you guys! You have to love the old datsuns, wish you guys were closer to nc so i could have you do the repairs to my 73’ 240z… killer work, i will definitely be watching every datsun vid from here on out

Omg I have found a Datsun that's far worse than the one that Yorkshire classic Restoration's 260z here in the UK I thought that was bad I think you guys have trumped that. awesome work guys amazing ♥️👍👍

I find the fisheye lens quite distracting but as I’m new here, I’ll just pay attention! Love these dig in rebuilds, such a lot of skill and dedication is needed. Tricky to do, quite unlike modern era vehicles which lack much severe corrosion. These 1970s cars can be so close to the inevitable end that you can carry them away in buckets (of rusty powder).

Great job on da Z, I'me doing similar on 260Z, full frame rails , rockers inner and outer, lt quarter and fender bottoms and complete floors. I must say, looks like your job is much better, lol!
Thanks brother, persistence is definitely key. Its gets overwhelming when the car is down to nothing and your starring at endless rust. But it becomes promising once you get moving into replacing the bad. It all comes together, just keep at it
My God, I know the owner is going to have a nice tab to pay.
Most common problem I saw back in the day was rusting out of the frame rail under the battery box. We replaced an entire floor back to the seam under the seat on one car- quite a project. The trick there was how to keep the body in alignment.

My brother once bought a Supra that had a full "body restoration." Looked amazing. 12 months down the track it basicly fell apart. The car was 50% bog.

sadly most classic cars have gone through questionable repairs in this area, the road salt will kill cars here within 10-15 years easily.
I am needing to buy patch panels for my Datsun, where did you get the rear facia/valence panel? Like you mentioned, many of us dont have access to an english wheel and i am wanting to buy the best panels available. Very nice work by the way!

What was the final cost of the rust repair? Looks exhaustive. Great work!
Definitely a bigger job then id much like to get into again. We had a pre determined cost. Worked out to about $20/hr 😂 but i was an experience to do it and it turned out awesome.

This was probably the most deceiving car we have done. Actually looked pretty solid until the fiberglass and bondo was removed.

Thats wild! I never knew that. These things are crazy rare now. This one was originally silver but this fella has owned it since new.

Those hospital masks do not in any way keep all the dust, chemicals and other crap from going in your system.
And put on your welding gloves.
