    Would'nt be surprised if the Disaster Datsun weighs 300Kg lighter after all this work. Absolutely stunned at the simple layer on layer of past repairs where nobody could be bothered to do it properly or could afford to! Nice job, keep going as its not so much a disaster now but a phoenix rising from the ashes due to your hard work and craftsmanship. Well done.

    On more serious notes, old Japanese cars actually have a stronger design than people give them credit for, the typical "accident in parking lot and you're dead" joke isn't anything I would readily associate with a car that survived that much rust & triple-stacked repair panels without collapsing.

    Clamp that bead roller to a suitable table leg so it wont wobble around.

    I'm sort of wondering what you're welding this new matal to , the entire bottom half of the car seems to be covered in surface to surface rust, obviously there must be something there but Hmmmmmm.

    • @yorkshirecarrestoration
      @yorkshirecarrestoration  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for the comment, the elements I left in were all rust free, they were just dirty and had primer on. If you check out the next Datsun video in 2 weeks, I will show the good metal as I will be welding the inner sill and floor pan in properly.

    Why no lengthwise bracing between a and b post?

    • @twoeightythreez
      @twoeightythreez ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would assume the roof is one of the only original and non rusty parts of that car
      And the roof on these was actually pretty strong for a 1970s car

    • @yorkshirecarrestoration
      @yorkshirecarrestoration  ปีที่แล้ว

      No real need, I just put the bracing in replacement of what I removed until I got it back in. The monocock of these cars hold up well

  • @BigPaul62
    @BigPaul62 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That car was a breaker. You've either got a big pair of cahones or you're getting paid extremely well to tackle that. I'm sure it will get there though!

    With all the cars and all the work that needs to get done you have in the shop..youre going to have to put out more than 2 videos a week...at this rate the disaster datsun videos will go on to 2024...lol

      Many of the cars you see will not appear on the channel, only a select few. Work is done off camera for other cars. And yes, the Disaster Datsun will certainly run into 2024 :D. I have a full time job in civils so I only work on it 1 day every week (on my weekend)
