Because I ran test and and stayed at 1 ms the whole time, but when I play a game the net bug stats say I have packet loss.😭

I have packet loss on all except for the 1st. Cable company came out and said they found packet loss at the TAP. Fun Stuff
So, I don’t know as much of you, these videos help a lot, so I don’t think I have packet loss, I have jitter, which from what I understand is packets coming in at inconstant timing, didn’t say that amazingly, but you know what it is, so anyway it’s on my ISP’s side of things, but do I treat it like it’s a packet loss case? I mean it feel basically like packet loss when I’m playing games
I just moved to a new community of condos where everyone's internet feeds off of the club house. We cannot get xfinity, or at&t or any decent range of ISPs. Century Link or BCS Awesome Internet are my options. I was given a dynamic IP address and I have double NAT issues. I can put my router in bridge mode and that gets rid of the double NAT but my biggest issues are packet loss even though I have excellent internet speeds over 100mbps. I have plugged my cord from computer directly to modem instead of my router and my first two lines constantly hover around 15% PL. At this point (since I removed my router from the chain) can I assume that my modem is probably bad or old? This was provided by the ISP. I bought a brand new TP Link Archer AX 50 so I find it hard to believe my router is the issue. I also use Cat5 or up cords.
When I run a test in PingPlotter to Google I get constant packet loss on 5th and 6th hop (the name of these hops are big cities in my state that are like 150 miles away and my ISP), but if I run a test to Amazon I don't get any packet loss, and the hops that have the same city name move down one on the hop list in PingPlotter.
making sure u have dual channel ram and an ssd can help more then just adding a ram stick
@fixitfixitfixit First off, great work on these videos. Heres my issue. "Prediction Errors" when playing a specific fps (Apex) on my xbox every 20ish seconds like clockwork. My understanding is these errors are a symptom of packet loss but not sure. I see 0.2% packet loss on the 3rd hop and then again on the 5th. After that, I get 96%, 90%, 0.1%, 72%, 92%, and 0.1% loss on the 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 15th (last) hops respectively. My xbox is wired like so: xbox > gigabit switch > router > modem. Any chance you know my issue? 3rd hop loss means its my ISP, possibly the headend? Thanks a ton.
I ran ping plotter on my main pc and it said it was coming from my pc so I tried on a lab top and got nothing. I have had packet loss all week. What part do you think it is usually in the pc. The network card?
im having like 0.2 PL on 1 and 3, does this mean anything? In game, Fortnite, i get about 1-2 % packet loss and it does affect my gameplay becuase i play competitively.
#1 and #2 it's OK... #3 shows 7.3%... We are on Fiber Optic running a TV Channel... I have a lot of PL when we try to broadcast on TH-cam, or on Our website. ISP problem right?
Routers and switches have memory for interfaces, if those buffers get filled they do drop packets
danjify, may also want to make sure he has cat 5e at least and a gigabyte switch u can limit your bandwith with low quality network stuff aswell
what about late packets? I have done multiple packet loss tests and it shows that I have 0 % packet loss ( on a 120 second test ) however there's 2.5 % - 4 % late packets. Do you know the causes of that and how to fix them? Keep in mind, I have never really had ANY issues with packet loss before and it's been 8-9 years now, I recently upgraded my pc, bought a whole new prebuilt pc ( rtx 4080 ryzen 7 7800x3d, 32gb ddr5 ram, asus MB ) and I right away noticed packet loss issues first day when I tried to play a game. I was getting that packet loss icon quite often on games like Modern Warfare 2019. Let me know what should I do to fix them and what causes those late packets, thanks.
So I have a Ethernet cable connected and I ran pingplotter does that mean it’s my ISP fault?and if it is do I have to upgrade my WiFi or what do I do
so just too clarifiy or ask, if someone is ddosing me, will it spike my router/ip? or would it show up as a different hop?
I dont have any packet loss on Hop 1 when only pinging one IP, but if I try to ping more than one IP at a time (w/ 1 second intervals) then it will start to show packet loss. Is this normal? Similar to ddos'ing yourself with 0.5s interval? I can assume my equipment is good despite this occurrence?

Hey man, not sure if youll reply anymore. but im getting packet loss of .7 all the way to 3.5 on line 3 in ping plotter. Ping spikes as high as 300ms on line 3 on ping plotter. My latency is consistently spiking up to 4-500 on Call of Duty. Been having issues and have replaced almost everything in the house. i get around 100mbps down and cant seem to figure out the issue. im assuming is has something to do with our receiver dish? ive been constantly talking with our ISP for the last couple months and they seem to think its something wrong with the house, but it doesnt make any sense to me considering its all been replaced. Any help would be super appreciated.

Huge packet loss, but only at night during certain times, like 9 pm - 4 am, its at 2nd hop and on.. but during the day, no packet loss on any hop... Also, during times of packet loss, no decrease in ping or download speeds, but only 1 upload whereas i usually have 30

Fixit, I opened up TASK MGR then PERFORMANCE TAB and Ethernet is spiking everything else is smooth. What does this mean? I'm hard-wired and use a ethernet switch for PC and Xbox.
What if i have 1-4ms response on pc to modem and pc to router but ping plotter is "telling me" packet lost is about 50% ?
What does it mean when it says "request timed out" in the cmd? it pings perfectly for many pings but every once in a while it'll time out, when it does that I can't play any games (If i'm in game when this happens it either kicks me out or tries reconnecting me) or talk on discord. Happens completely at random. Won't have any issues for weeks sometimes but then out of nowhere I start having issues. Only on games and discord, google, youtube, etc all work fine. Started happening about a year ago. This issue also affects wifi connections for instance Instagram stories, reels, etc won't load. We have had many people come over to the house to try and fix it, they all say they found something and it should be fixed now but it never is
had the same issue here. try to deactivate your firewall and make sure the network that you are using is private and NOT public. this helped me, so good luck :)

Man my 7th has a lot of PL like 97% constant what does that mean?
How can you fix it if it is from computer to router? I am already wired with high quality ethernet

my first 5 hops all have over 50% packet loss what steps do i take to fix it?

I cmd tested my packet loss on my router and modem separately and got zero packet loss on both, but on ping plotter 1st line shows 95% PL, and 2nd line doesnt even show an address with 100% packet loss. what does this mean? I am hardwired in.
I don’t know if this was just a coincidence but when I disabled OneDrive in the task manager my ping went back to normal and I had 0 packet loss

how can i contact with you please! been having a problem 6 months since the ISP plant the fibre network and my network keeps lagging every 10 seconds and i literally cant play any game without huge ping spikes that goes up to 5000ms sometimes ... i went through the steps in ur previous video .... ISP came to change the router but it seems like nothing is wrong with it and after finding ur video i confirmed it that the ping between my computer and router is totally fine always 1ms rarely 5ms or 10ms.
after trying the pingplotter it shows that when the network gone for like 10 seconds every 2 minutes or so... the pattern in ping plotter shows 8.5 to all of the IP Adresses at the same time then after 10 seconds or so all of them goes back to normal...
Note: im suing ethernet cable CAT6 and monitoring throught the software pingplotter.
im on my discord typically, discord.gg/gpu having said that there is not much i can do but what i will suggest is to keep complaining and then contact them and request bill credit for the month each month. This way you dont pay for service until they fix it.
Why i don't have the 2nd and 3rd hop?

So I’m having problems on my 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 10th and 14th I’m getting a lot of packer loss and huge red lines on the graph below I’m sure it’s something with my WiFi but here’s the thing my Ethernet cable that I use for my gaming pc has a orange light on it when it’s suppose to be green (which we all know) now mind you I have 3 other people using Ethernet cables as well for working at home, their light on the Ethernet cable is green. I simply tried using one of the other Ethernet cables to see if it would remain green and It didn’t. It turned ORANGE! My mom took the one I was using and plugged it into her Pc and it turned green so I thought it was my pc so I’ve watched every video on how to lower packet loss going to my network sharing settings etc anything u can think of I’ve done and I’m still having problems this is crazy and the biggest news of all is that I’m using COX! The worst WiFi router ever! Now I know that may be the answer but I have neverrrr lagged this bad in my life before I usually get 8 ping on fortnite and 0% packet loss now I have a red X a whole bunch of red lines anddd 80% plus packets loss please help.

I don’t understand!! When playing games on my pc, (modern warfare, apex legends), my ping is good but I still lag. The in game lag symbols show me packet loss is occurring, but when I use ping plotter it doesn’t show any problems occurring. I know it’s not my pc so what could it be?

I have the same problem. It says the second hop is not a responding hop and it has 100% PL. Sometimes the other hops have packet loss of 0.2 up to 3.0%, and sometimes it doesn't have.

This video was really informative, I’ve been having issues with ping spikes for the last 2 weeks and really need to fix it as it’s making online gaming unplayable competitively. Sometimes my ping runs fine and then all of a sudden I get massive ping spikes. This is a daily occurrence now. I have packet loss via Ethernet and Wi-Fi but it’s far worse on Wi-Fi. Ping will also spike up to the thousands, and back down again. I also have ping spikes when pinging my router, even when pinging Google I get ping spikes due to hop 1 giving me a spike at the same time. Do you know what the issue may be? I think it may be the router but I’m unsure. I also never used to have this issue and my ethernets are new and of good quality so it can’t be them.
You ever fix this problem? I'm dealing with the exact same issue. The packet loss (which is causing ping spikes) seems to be coming from one of the comcast servers.

If anyone is still here, I somehow just have an issue with pinging to TH-cam, the videos are so damn slow (with and without vpn [I use VPN because my dad made some settings in the router, so the youtube content comes somehow filtered, i.e. no pictures and stuff I guess this issue is created because he is filtering Adult content but still maybe this is valuable info)] but the problem in ping plotter is only at the 4th, 6th and 9th hop. So Im assuming really large scale but I cant find anything on google about it, this goes on for close to a week, I guess it's not TH-cams fault.

You more than likely have an all in one or its using a different ip address.
@Dxmian type ipconfig into the command prompt and use the default gateway address
