To all - don't worry about packet loss if it DOES NOT carry through to the rest of the hops. It's totally normal for devices en route to drop or down-prioritize TTL Expired packets. What matters is the network connectivity to the TARGET. If the target is showing PL or high latency, trace those patterns back towards your router using multiple graphs as shown in the video (multiple graphs are Pro and Standard only). The earliest hop that best matches the patterns of high latency or packet loss you're seeing at the target *should* be the offending hop (or the physical line leading up to it).

If it makes you feel any better, ever single one of mine are showing packet loss and the first one is saying that I have a 92.4% packet loss

@@coshikaste I found out if you use a VPN, the packet loss is almost gone. Windscribe is a decent one that gives you 10gb a month free which is plenty for gaming

try factory resetting your routers/modems
Dude, no offense but you're talking non-sense throughout the whole video. Your problems isn't the ISP, it's your router as proven from the first hop. That's where you lose packets. Also, the 100% PL% at the end is due to the server not allowing pings (bounces) back. Reverse back to your ISP settings stop messing around with static/custom IP addresses and DNS resolver. Resolver is not rerouting IP addresses, it's trying to access the main name resolution through alternative servers on the cloud.
Is this video made for the sole purpose of what the description is filled with? This can only help find the issue, this is not a FIX as stated in the title.

Wouldn't changing your DNS server depend on location. Like if I am closer to my IPS server then my default provided DNS servers would be better for ping than google or cloud?
Hey guys if you run out of options for packet loss fixes and you are on pc just update your network drivers and see how it turns out.It fixed the problem for me

On games my ping is low like 5 and the packetloss only appears on the download and not the upload
It’s weird because it says my ping is great but I get the packet loss notification yet I always lag? Like fps lag but it says I’m on 60fps even when I lag I really don’t know what to do (I’m also on the lowest settings possible) don’t own a shit pc btw it runs apex fine fortnite bf4 pretty much any game it runs on full settings without any issues but on warzone I run into so many issues
im not sure if you re aware, but fps has nothing to do with lag.

Great video, oddly enough pretty sure a cheap 20$ ethernet surge protector switch basically is the cause for mine, ordered a waterproof coupler to hopefully solve it for the time being until I move but none the less great video it helped confirm what I boiled it down too. (another note barb wire fence also cut the lan line because its not buried since I'm moving soon anyways but thats fixed now just solving it on my own so I don't have to bug them and / or get the same shit 20$ box lol)
i know this video is old but could the gateway power cord that plugs into the wall be a problem and cause this? i have 60-70 packet loss on the 1 i already replaced the gateway but they gave me the same model without a new power cord

No that is not the problem. 70 degrees celsius is fine if you're gaming. Your graphics card has nothing to do with ping or your connection.

i had that same router and modem. Unfortunately both of those devices got fried by an electrical surge in my area. I had to replace both my router and modem and i bought a electrical surge protector to ensure it doesn’t happen again. I bought and rtx 82u router and motorola mb8600. I have gigabit internet and i still get packet loss so it isn’t the modem or the router

Packer loss could be because of bad cable or cables or wifi.

ultimate GG my problem with my internet being shit was that the walls between the router and my xbox were blocking the signal. All i did to fix that was move my router and i don’t get packet loss anymore
