Haay JoJo, Glad to see you again the community has missed you and your awesome content, Unfortunately the Lenovo IdeaPad duet 5 that I purchased was a dud , I turned it on one day to look at some TH-cam videos and the TH-cam page would not load , every thing worked except TH-cam this was a real bummer it loaded the TH-cam page but with no content there was no way to correct this besides a power wash reset. I was so disappointed I had to return it sadly I really was starting to like this duet 5 , so yes I'm now on the hunt for a great Chromebook again , see in the next one JoJo so glad you are back , take care stay safe everyone
Hey Artie! Thank you so much for your comments. Glad to be back. I'm so sorry to hear about you having problems with your Duet 5. You may want to wait for the upcoming Duet 3 which will be a similar size as the original Duet I know you love, but will have much better specs.
I help by advising the orderly neighbor for getting the Lenovo Duet 5 After All I can say he's feelings are ectatic. He had the Ipad Air but the OS was to complicated for him also hevier. The Duet 5 OLED screen making it a Bargain also tremendusly easy the Crome OS. I do have the Ipad Pro M1 and its heavy weight which in times makes me tired to take outdoors but this is nothing to do with. Lady thank you for your Great review!!
I also find that the speakers are lacking at times. The sound is great if just listening to something or watching on TH-cam but if I'm streaming a movie or show I find the speakers don't get loud enoigh to hear everything clearly. Might be just me though.

Hi Jojo! Thanks for the review. I am curious if you would recommend the Duet 5 as a primary tool for business as the company I work for is soon switching over to google workspace applications and my mac will soon become obsolete due to it being an older model.
If your company works primarily with Google Apps and web based tools, then I don't see why it couldn't become your primary machine. I wouldn't recommend making the full switch if you absolutely need Microsoft Office apps.
I currently have a Windows laptop, the HP x360 but it's 5 years old. The camera glitches even when I plug in an external camera, and some of the keys need to be hit more than once to work (sometimes). It's on It's last legs. I'm wondering if Chromebook is the way forward for me as it's affordable. Well, I would use it for media consumption and occasionally for Xbox game pass, it's primary use would be for internet research (a lot of tabs open), word processing (Word docs), to be able to take handwritten notes, and to mark up PDFs. Do you think this would work well for that? Also, would it work well for typing on my lap? I will have a Windows PC at home should I need it but I'd like this to be my daily driver most of the time. I can upload my docs cloud storage. I can get it new for $450 Canadian, or refurbished for 265 Canadian at Best Buy.

I like the device but i have found it to be too fragile. The screen has developed a loose connection or something so that if I press my finger on the lower center of the screen opposite the camera the screen glitches. Lenovo said its damaged so its not covered under warranty. Otherwise it works really well.
I don't have the crashing problem from switching between modes. However, if I just detach the keyboard I lose my ability to type and have to restart the app I'm using to get the onscreen keyboard to come up.

Hi there. I don't have a screen protector on the Duet 5 because it's such a nice OLED screen and I didn't want anything messing up that gloss. That said, if you really think you need one, I've had good luck with the screen protectors from a company called ViaScreens. I had their matte screen protector on the original duet and it was great for writing.
It's the Pitaka MagEZ stand. It does attach magnetically but requires an adhesive magnetic square to be attached to the back of the Duet. It's a pretty strong magnet.
Can you please validate if possible to use this tablet as a second external monitor from a Windows laptop. It will be great to use it as a second monitor during work day while traveling!! Thank you!!!
Hi there. Unfortunately you cannot. As far as I know there isn't a Chromebook out in the market that can do that. It would mean that it needs a separate input for a monitor cable. iPads can do this from Macs using Sidecar, but Chromebooks don't have anything like that.

I really do wish that I waited for the Duet 5 before buying the Original Duet. It is an awesome Chromebook, got Good Reviews from Chrome Unboxed & from you. The things that I hate about the original duet that I am using currently is the fact that it's so small to use as your primary Chromebook & connecting it to a monitor, just gives 1080p @30hz which is almost unusable and half the time instead of clicking the minimize button to minimize the window, I click on the close button. The other issue is the Mediatek Chip, It's good but not the best... Would prefer the Duet 5 since it has an (almost) 13 inch, OLED Display with a Snapdragon 7c (gen2) which I heard good reviews on & I think it supports 1080p @60hz and Also having 8GB RAM is awesome.
hp's chrome os tablet and the last duet do not crash when you remove the keyboard and they both have snapdragon cpus, i would be more inclined to believe its lenovos driver that they should have spent more time testing.....that and the fact theres no where to put the pen and the keyboard isnt even backlit all equals cr@p to me, and DO NOT BUY

Jojo great review. I'm having an issue when i cast my screen to my tv. the audio becomes distorted. Have you experienced this with your device?

Yeah, I can see that. I've had a few scares myself almost dropping it because it feels a bit heavy when you're coming from the smaller Duet.
