    This is exactly th-cam.com/users/postUgkxUHHotQRjIQnfuxEeVotlkHVYWH0DXZoS what I needed to get some exercise while I'm stuck at my desk all day. It's just the right size. Only downsides are that the right oeddale unscrews itself while I use it and increasing the tension causes it to squeak while in use. Both are minor issues that aren't that important to me. So I give it 5 stars.

    Hi! Isn't the "risk" so to speak, when we're talking about the ACL, that the leg extension is basically an isolated movement for your quad? And as far as I've come to understand it, overdeveloped quads (in comparison to glues, hams) is a significant risk factor in ruther knee injuries. Just something my physio and my surgeon told me after my ACL reconstruction.

    • @E3Rehab
      @E3Rehab  4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      We're going to discuss that in the next video, but no, stronger quads actually reduces the risk of re-injury.

    • @patrickfrost7590
      @patrickfrost7590 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I see it differently, Instead of looking at the strength ratio of the quads and hamstrings, look at it more like poor motor control/decision making at the moment of impact on deceleration movements. Look at Odell's Injury video in slow motion. He was distracted by the ball being thrown behind him and decelerated with a twist to catch the ball. At the same time he landed on his heel because he was already in the motor pattern of knee extension to heel strike from a jogging pace up the seem. Landing on your heel is very unstable, coupled with the fact that his base of support (Foot) is much further from his center of mass (Belly button). He landed on his heel, because he was quad activated instead quad dominate at the moment in time. Had he activated his hamstring he would have landed with his foot flat and knee flexed, a much better/balanced position that puts load on the muscles instead of the joints/ligaments. This is all my theory, but it makes a heck of a lot more sense than looking at quad/hamstring ratio's. Here is video link a the moment of heel strike just prior to the tear for reference purposes. th-cam.com/video/6jIgR-5aboc/w-d-xo.html.

      No way! Just don’t do these open chained Leg Extensions so early. You’ve got tons of other closed chain exercises to focus on so why doing this exercise which is kind of risky and having a lot of conflicts. Personally, I am a year post OP ACL and whenever I try to do this leg extension exercise, a strong discomfort appears in my knee(especially in the Ligament area). Also my surgeon told me to avoid this exercise.

My surgeon told me that my knee had deformed because I kept it for a long time.

      Just stick w rehab, I’m 3 years post acl surgery. It’s all good now, I’m squatting 3 plates with no sleeves. Just focus and go hard on rehab and don’t do anything your physician wouldn’t want you to do. Just be patient because rushing your recovery won’t help you long term.

    • @Maliq993
      @Maliq993 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you were just 3 weeks post op, relax man , I was worse than that. Im six months post op now, I cant sit on my knees yet but I can almost fully bend them. As far as extension goes I can fully extend to 0 degrees but Im not getting that hyperextension -5 degrees like my left leg is getting when walking, so if my leg is not warmed up I tend to walk with really slight weird gait, like its really tiny but noticable. It improved drastically over period, but what I learned is that its super slow improvement, with this rate at least a year to get to decent state where I can say that Im worry free. However probably it will take more than a year to get to a state of pre-op leg.... Just take it easy and exercise your leg with discipline

    • @Throggy
      @Throggy 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey, I'm 11 months post op, and even had a second surgery to remove scar tissue. I finally got to just 0 extension like 2 months ago. I think my best advice is to work on strengthening the quad and hamstring as much as you possibly can.
