@@tomsheils1096 there’s a TeDxTalk about ‘Don’t take it personal.’ It is good. We need to learn to DETACH ourselves from others comments. Also there’s a great person here on TH-cam, young, but with wisdom beyond her life years, who is amazing at teaching us to think about our expectations from others, etc. (Edit: BK Shivani is her name and TH-cam channel) It is great as a foundation to detach ourselves from others. Only by making a conscious decision for ourselves, we can do this. Though we go into our ‘default’ system, just like a computer, we must make sure we stay with the ‘UPDATES’ on a regular basis.

I wish I had this teaching 50 yrs ago.😭I have ruined relationships that I cared about that would have tripled my joy in life. I have been left with misery. I listened to false voices and feelings in my head and heart.😭It's SO HARD living with these regrets. I still cry over the losses, unforgiveness, anger, misunderstandings, and missed opportunities. The unforgiveness, anger, resentment, and the false reality of a situations that lead me down a dark path of repeated reactions for decades and left misery behind! I carried the anger of my childhood into my adulthood. I didn't realize this until I brought God deeper into my life. I failed to listen too many times. He's the great teacher and comforter in time of regrets. Rely on God's strength and never your own. Self control is not just what comes out of your mouth but, what goes into your mouth, ears, and eyes.🙊🙉🙈 Put on the armor of God's love and be fully protected. You will make mistakes, but fewer and fewer. Accept the peace and forgiveness God offers you. Repentance and forgiveness are a moments prayer away.💗💔💗

If you are interacting with people who consistently abuse you when you are doing your best to get along, it is probably best to minimize/cease contact as some people are just not going to stop. You learn a lot about people when you don’t react. All the pettiness and how they view you. In the end, you come to realize that they don’t really know you and their attacks are just the lens from how they see the world from their own past experiences. It’s not the same lens you are looking out at them from. For the person that was cheated on, everyone is a potential cheater. For the person who was robbed, everyone is a potential thief.
Reacting doesn’t solve anything. Waiting and discussing in a calm matter might help, but if a relationship is destroyed, ask God to give the person peace and love and remove yourself from further harm.

I need to do the inner work and stop reacting to others when I feel attacked, if I feel their energy is off, or if I notice distance. I need to realize that NONE of it is because of me. When he died, I was left his property and his money. My relatives came at me with all kinds of disgusting phone calls and harassed through text messages. All the while, I decided to just ignore them and do what needed done through court. I went against the urge to get down right evil because it wasn't really needed...As it turned out, the harassment stopped when they saw it had no effect...I got through it by not giving them the satisfaction or ability to control my decision making.....Sometimes, silence is the better path.....I knew their words were used by them to hurt me....I didn't take the bait...I maintained control by not responding....

Once you find out what the lesson is, you improve. That's also the best lesson I learned from art. You send your work for criticism so that you can improve. Only with practice can we internalize a behavior we want to portray. When we react we are reacting subconsciously, we are on autopilot behavior, it is autopilot bcuz it is what we have been doing for years. In order to change, we have to be present in the moment and choose not to react, choose to change. Eventually what seems like hard work will feel more natural as the brain rewires to the new behavior. Don't give up, it only takes practice, repetition and time for the brain to rewire.

SO IM NOT GUNNA MAKE SENSE TO ANYONE THAT GETS IN MY WAY RT NOW" if others choose to engage with an angry person that's on them, I think if we warn others of where we are at, and they choose to engage and it blows up, we can at least allow ourselves the forgiveness that we did make an attempt to have some accountability, by being open about our emotional status, that is in its own way keeping our side of the road clean, we are never wrong about how we feel..

Dear Lee, so many of us "fit the profile" of BPD at times in our lives, but what I've come to believe is that BPD is just unresolved trauma habits from our childhood. I used to not be able to control my emotions/reactions either, but when I realized THAT WAS NORMAL given my life experiences, it soothed me so, so much. And since that realization, the tangle of old habits has come undone to a large degree, and I'm much less reactive. HOWEVER--I am still healing and still have so much practice to do in my new habits. I've recently realized one of my residual trauma-habits is thinking, when I don't get a response from someone, that they hate me. It's completely unhelpful and useless to think that, and it's definitely a reactive thought habit that I need to continue working on.
Anyway, just wanted to share my experience with you. I abhorr the stigma around BPD because it's not fair to those of us who have struggled so much due to psychological trauma during our youth. Also, I do believe BPD can be overcome. And I think the label of BPD is often just a cop-out for a biased/lazy/uninformed psychiatrist!!

It made me realize that when one does not react to every person and event in our lives, that we can actually connect with a higher state of consciousness and have the ability to see our reality on a much deeper level. What a blessing!

Not reacting/stop overreacting = resistance of what is. The more you resist reacting/overreacting the more it persists. Resistance of what is is the root cause of pain and suffering. If reacting/overreacting is what happening right now then all you have to do is simply allow as it is, All is well!

I respect your view, mine is similar but with a twist. As you aptly stated, "Resistance of what IS is the root cause of pain and suffering" -- for me, resistance can MANIFEST in the form of reaction/overreaction (a learned response), and I can choose neutrality instead as it leads to a clearer mind and inner peace. It's a more active choice for me. Blessings

Jasmin, I had a brother we used to taunt (when we were kids) just to see how angry we could make him. One day my mother told him the story of the BERSERKER. The berserker was a fictional story about a man the townspeople put in a cage in the middle of town square. The townspeople would taunt him mercilessly until he went berserk and this was their sick form of entertainment. After my mother told my brother that story, he changed. We could no longer get a rise out of him, so we stopped trying.

I'm going to be daring and say this: I think reacting is an essential part of responding. I say this because for most of my life I didn't know how to trust my feelings. I had been undermined and confused by my two mothers and my father so I wouldn't challenge them. My reactive habits were completely out of whack for a long time. I couldn't figure out what was right, what was wrong, how I was supposed to feel, etc. When I broke away from my family a few years ago, and starting seriously reflecting on my life, I came to see how my reactivity had been manipulated. If you don't allow a child to feel confident in her feelings, she will not know how to react healthily to things. I had to accept the ugliness of my reactive tendencies in order to grow emotionally. I have had to learn how to feel and know and trust my reactions, while not giving into them.
Personally, I think reacting is a crucial part of responding. If you can't react to something, how can you move forward?
Please know that I am NOT saying "react out loud," I mean, react internally. Trust your inner voice.
Also, avoid large shots of tequila on an empty stomach. :)

I can relate with you dear.. me too was not given the privilege to have a healthy environment in my childhood up to my growing up years. I have been deprived of expressing what's inside me..on how I feel. Therefore, reacting is somewhat confusing to me. But mostly, when I encounter similar treatment at present with people I am with, it triggers my past hurts, it hurts me as the old wound was touched again. I pray that God ,our Creator will heal them all in His Perfect Time. I just fix my eyes on our Wounded Healer-Jesus Christ. Though, its not that easy really. But this pain taught me to rely on the One who created my beautiful heart.

I think it is dangerous to add the caviate " unless it makes you a better human being." This is how cults get people entrained to their narcissistic policies.
Just keep it clean: DO NOT STEP INTO ANOTHER'S FRAME FOR YOUR LIFE. DO NOT IDENTIFY YOURSELF BY BEING ENTRAINED ONTO ANOTHER PERSON'S FRAME. DO NOT GIVE AWAY YOUR OWN POWER TO SELF IDENTIFY ACCORDING TO YOUR OWN FRAME FOR ANY REASON.
Also, make sure that you are not giving away your aelf attunement. So many children became empathic due to being forced to attune themselves into pleasing a narcissist for survival. Now, since they( we) are used to doing that we are already people pleasing and need to learn and practice staying separate from people that use emotionally manipulative tactics to get us entranced to pleasing them and making us believe that their needs are more important than us taking care of ourselves first.
Watch these 3 important shows on Netflix now to see how narcissists lied in order to take everything away from their followers/believers. So many people have been enculturated with lies to give everything away to those who believe that they are entitled to take take take everything down to the last drop of life energy away from anyone they can ensnare into their draining web of lies.
Don't let anything be a reason to give your life away to another person. OWN your life, your work, your money, your time, your resource, your attention and your energy. Even of it means that you will not become a better person. And not save the planet.
Don't let your believing that you are supposed to be a "good" person cause you to allow yourself to be abused ( used wrongly) for the sake of a liar who would take everything from you with no guilt about it at all.
The 3 important shows to watch:
      1. Leah Remini Scientology and the Aftermath.
      2. Be Sweet, Pray and Obey.
      3. John of God the crimes of a spiritual healer.
In cults, the crimes of abuse could not have been done without followers/believers.
Many of these cults teach how to not react, then abuse and control people into not reacting healthfully and honestly about the abuse because the followers have been entrained to trust the leader/narcissist more than they trust their own inner voice or eyes. They can no longer see the lies because their minds are trained to see the belief/lie over their own inner knowing or what their eyes are seeing.

Being tolerant and forgiving is so much easier from a warm home with enough money & food. Having said that, reacting is an important part of our evolution- I can think back over many times in my life where if I hadn't reacted, I wouldn't have been successful or achieved what I did, some of my reactions leading to important life changing events. A realtor stole my deposit, I begged & cried, and eventually they gave it back, and I used my money to set up a business. If I hadn't begged & cried, that wouldn't have happened. My family were about to do something that would destroy 15 years of my hard work & life savings. I got so angry with them & they eventually backed down. If I hadn't reacted to these types of events, I wouldn't have built my own business from scratch, would likely not have been able to afford my own home, wouldn't have a happy life with my own wife or be able to afford to have children. Whilst this video sounds uplifting, it's not entirely based in truth. In reality, life is more complex & it depends on the situation. You can't blanket every situation with one rule.

I also learned this through working in the mental health field and dealing with unintentional harmful behavior by people with true deep and dark mental health issues, disease, etc. Working with these people in everyday life, has made me a more patient and caring person and a better person myself! !Thank You again,!

That is why Christ wisely said: love your enemies, pray for those who persecute you. If someone takes your cloak, do not deny him your tunic either. Blessings to Dr Levry 🙏

Wish someone taught me this 25 years ago.... They need to make these kinds of teachings mandatory in high schools.
