Thank you for sharing this video, I am going back to trucking over the road again, and always have set my old drum brakes once a week like clockwork. I now see there are disk brakes and this gives me the proper way to adjust these now. I do like the shorter breaking distance they provide now as to the old style drum brakes. Appreciate your video and explaining it to me and all of us that need to know.
Just adding that I got accepted to Covenant driving training and hope to be driving for them very soon, I have my CDL-A Permit, just waiting for the hard copy to hit the mailbox now... I did OTR from 1996 to 2001.... Flatbed Division... Going back to Dry Van for at least a year, then look at my options, but if they are alright I will stay on with Covenant.... Be safe and have a great day all...!!!
All the time I spent on my back under tractors and trailers running drums in the mountains. Then we got auto slack adjusters. But they didn't always work, especially for the DOT. Then an old mechanic where I worked showed me a plastic ruler he had me compare to a metal one. The metal ruler was six inches and the plastic one about 5 and 1/2. He said the DOT use a pocket lighter to shrink the plastic. I started taking a break to turn down my auto slack adjusters before crossing certain scales. Once I got them inspected just almost out of adjustment only 300 miles after the truck was in the shop for an annual. My mechanic and I compared the three measurement sheets, truck, trailer and DOT. It's about collecting revenue. And fraidycops prefer the safer jobs.
Two clicks? Is that 1/4 turn? Should be able to use a simple 10mm wrench. Also, what all are the DOT looking for? How do I look for cracks in the binders, that sort of thing? How to check for excessive heat damage? What about frozen binders in excessive cold and procedure to thaw? How far even should my foot pedal depress, after snugging up, etc? I did 35 years with drum binders and did my first disc break trucking last year. The whole external system is really closed-in.
I have a 2016 and it seems to be a different setup because i see the ajuster and the grece nipple but i don't see the part that you would pull out before ajusting! How does that work?
There are some variances for slack adjusters. Some just require a 9/16 socket (possibly a 7/16) to adjust. It’s the same procedure. Tighten all the way then half a turn out
Short and quick awesome
Thank you 🙏🏽🙌🏽

I have a question bro. Can you adjust the brakes with the brake chambers caged ?

Thanks. If i have a stuck brake in the winter could i just turn counterclockwise to release it ?
Is it drum or disk brakes? I think your best bet would be to cage the brake chamber
@@shreqboi1 disc
our truck smoke when breake , do you know what is going on? I am not familiar on this new breaker, if you know anything please let me know thank you!
The brakes might be out of adjustment and too tight, are they drum or disk?
@@shreqboi1 disk brakes , I did adjust the brakes but the driver says has smoke one time after I adjust it
@@juntong651 have you inspected the caliper?? It might be getting stuck or slack adjuster
How can you check push rod travel.
There are measuring instruments to check the tolerance, only way I know is to do an applied brake test
What is the cause of key not to turn neither way
Bad caliper
Thank you big men
No problem! Glad it helped. Don’t forget to sub and continue to support 🙏🏽🙏🏽

My pleasure 🙏🏽
💯💯RIGHT BROTHER
Thank you for the support bro 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Its called a sheer adapter. That way if one is missing it they know what to call it when searching
Thank you! 🙌🏽
Bendix says 3 clicks
it is 3 clicks.
2 clicks is more reliable keeps the braking force tighter
3 clicks sir, not 2
Thank you for the correction
Bendix says 3 clicks bud.
Thank you for the correction
Know how to do this for an Intermodal Chassis?
Honestly I don’t but is you are referring to a trailer chassis then it’s the same procedure just release the trailer brakes
