Abba were heavily criticized during the 70s of doing music only for the money, so they released this song. Well played Abba, well played. Her voice is amazing. And so are those backing vocals by Agnetha. Fantastic song.
A great reaction, really appreciate you doing the live performance as well as the official video. Maybe you can go back to Knowing Me, Knowing You and do the live version from the Dick Cavett show, that is sure worth seeing 😁😁
I just LOVE this live performance. Flawless. I always thought that Agnetha was my favourite, but most of my top Abba songs have Frida on lead vocal. I can’t choose - I love them both ❤️
As long as there will be people on earth, or in space, they will be listening and been emotional to ABBA-songs. And M M M will be one of them. It's such amazing song. Thanks for your review.
Frida at her vocal best here ! .. So sultry and full of attitude .. And what fantastic production on the recording .. The sound just leaps out of the speakers .. BTW - They do a very nice job in the totally live version too .. Welcome back to the ABBA reactions, mate !👍👍
Wow!That's was double pleasure!Thank U David! That classic was no1 in Germany for 5 weeks if i'm not mistaken.I love the way Frida is acting there.Lyrics are really sarcastic and some kind of an answer to the ones who 'blamed" them for getting rich after the massive amounts of records they were selling. But let's not forget that all 4 members refused to leave Sweden and become tax exiles despite the huge taxes charged(about 80% i think) and remained to the country they loved leading a rather ordinary life without the extravagant luxuries and tastes other rock superstars and celebrities use to do ,especially last decades.
ABBAMAN.... This song is by far is one of Frida's best vocal deliveries I have never seen the live version before. Thanks for sharing that. Back to Tommy for a second I've always wondered why he sang it from the female perspective he could have sang I bet she wouldn't fancy me instead of I bet he wouldn't fancy me. Still one of Abbas best songs ever and I think the arrival album what's a big turning point in their sound the Abba formula so to speak😊
I like live shows more. They have more life and emotions. And there is a saying: "Of course, money does not make you happier. But it is better to cry in a posh car than at a bus stop." Something like that. Thanks for this review, ABBA is a legendary band of all times.
Hey David... Brightened my day seeing another Abba reaction from you... and what a banger!! Always loved this song with the lovely Frida doing her thing with that amazing voice. And what a treat to see the totally live version with both girls looking gorgeous. What a treat! Thank you 👍
ABBA were going through their absolute Imperial Phase when this was released. They could do no wrong . Hit after hit and such variety, SOS, Mamma Mia, Fernando, Dancing Queen, Money Money Money, Knowing Me Knowing You in succession with more hits to come in late 1977/early 1978.
The video is so classical ABBA, so Lasse Hallström, and of course the song is an evergreen and, unfortunately, eternally relevant. Love Frida's live delivery.
Well said GT!It's like ABBA is still always around in one way or another. No matter what some haters say it's actually genius well crafted, complicated produced music that seem simple and can be heard anytime, anyplace, anywhere and get u hooked. That's big deal.

Tack David, alltid kul att höra gamla ABBA låtar😊 Håller med om att lite mer pengar inte skulle skada, men man får ta det för vad världen är idag. Ha det bra 🎉❤
This song is awesome, I remember when it was played on the radio, it was so different from the other songs, even from the ABBA repertoire, with that cabaret style. The clip is the favourite one for his director, I think it's very good. I love the live performance, it's full of energy and it sounds even dramatic.
A great reaction David, this is a brilliant song, one of there best, got to catch up with your other reactions, had a heart attack a few months ago,so fallen behind your videos, will be catching up now x
It is live yes. I have the ABBA in Japan DVD, they only used playback for the new songs they were promoting and then they played live for real with the older songs they performed. Like SOS and Money, Money, Money
Kul att få se den andra versionen också den hade jag aldrig sett. Ännu en strålande reaction från dig :) Kul om du går igenom alla låtar och glöm inte framträdandet i På Spåret med Laleh ihop med Benny Anderssons Orkester = MAGI!
Bro I know you posted this video 4 days ago but only now I had the opportunity to watch it. This song is immortal as you said. It has a great production behind and, for sure, is one of the better known ABBA's song. I enjoy it very much although it isn't in my ABBA TOP 12. I guess, very soon, you'll react to one of them :) Thank you for sharing your reaction with us. Bye bye bro.

Its great Gene! Yeah, I think its Tommys way of paying respect to the original and why he does not change the lyrics, but I can only guess 🙏🏻
fun fact, Frida married a prince and live in Monaco, but all ABBA members are rich.
Frida doesn't live in Monaco, she lives in Switzerland...

Hello dear GivenToe , so nice to see you again reaction to ABBA songs in our ABBA Journey
and thanks again for doing "two for the price of one" (tittle as ABBA song from 1981)
"Money money money" (1976)
it is a very good song in a different musical style,
cabaret type, set in another era
"Money money money"
is the single that followed
"Dancing Queen"
and reached # 3 in the UK,
#1 in Australia and several European countries.
It is a totally different song from its predecessor "Dancing Queen"
and also from its successor "Knowing me knowing you"
This is the versatility of ABBA,
they go from genre to genre,
as well as from success to success
The song lends itself very well to the brunette Frida's lower voice,
the choruses are sharper in contrast (and very catchy)
The instrumentation is excellent
The official video is one of ABBA's best, very creative,
and the favourite of the film director, Lasse Hallstrom
it shows Them in fashion situations and also with their famous kimonos
But a few months before ABBA premieres
the new official lyric video of "Money money money"
and next, the live perfomance at Japan 1978 is again fantastic
ABBA did three songs live to Japan TV:
"S.O.S.", "Money money money" and "Thank you for the music" at the end
all these songs have an orchestra behind, it gives more power to the songs
and the live vocals of Frida & Agnetha are outstanding
I hope to see you soon with more ABBA songs

It is great to hear live music by people with pure talent. A scarcity these days.
The brief live version from Aussie tour to MMM is also fine.Featured in 'Abba The Movie'.

Hello! In Sweden, ABBA was not so accepted as a serious music group to be reckoned with. They were more appreciated abroad than at home. Much depended on how Swedish society at large viewed people who earned a lot of money. It was simply ugly and in the music industry it was considered that you could not compete in music and earn mony.
Melodifestivalen was not that popular at the time and many people boycotted the group ABBA. If you look at the ABBA hysteria in Australia before the concerts in 1977, you can see the group members are a little shocked by the overwhelming reception of the large number of fans and the hysteria they created. They had not experienced anything similar in Sweden and here they were also mocked by some music artists at their concerts. Even on TV!
The music movement, the Swedish music movement or the progressive music movement, in contemporary parlance most often referred to as "proggen", was a Swedish musical phenomenon, strongly influenced by the late 1960s youth revolts such as the '68 Left, the American hippie movement, and for many also Swedish folk music . This movement, which had its heyday in the first half of the 1970s, was very heterogeneous in terms of genre and originally aimed to promote the various forms of music that commercial record companies did not perceive as economically interesting, but over time came to characterize an increasing left-wing politicization. People who perform or listen to music related to the movement are usually called ”proggers”.
So, to "give back", they created a song about money.
