From the minute that melancholic piano kicks in, you know this is going to be one of those heartbreaking, vulnerable masterpiece Agnetha lead vocals, No hearts and flowers, but a painfully real, honest reflection on the flaws and imperfections in relationships. This has a lush but relatively stripped back production that really suits the grittier lyrics of the song, letting the vocals shine. I was going to say they don’t make songs like that anymore but they just did- in fact 10 of them! Haven’t stopped listening since I bought it ! Beautifully written played and sung - everyone !
You completely got this song❤️ brilliant reaction. This is exactly what it did to me. Is so amazing. The lyrics, the music, the VOCALS. It's simply stunning.
What stunning vocals from Agnetha! Could this song be a prequel or sequel to The Winner Takes It All? I love your reaction, it adds to the emotion and excitement of hearing the songs for the first time.
Her voice is really well suited for an old school country ballad. Wild. Her best is this and Don’t Shut Me Down and Frida’s best is I Still Have Faith in You and No Doubt About It. Then we’ve got Little Things, When You Danced with Me and Ode to Freedom… wow… what an album!
Excellent review. This is absolutely my favourite track on the album and Agnetha voice is just angelic and mournful at the same time. it is true genius and yes I can totally relate to this from personal experience.
in this song there is much very much indeed very much more than the words of Bjiorn and Agnetha can express. There is so much of what the two of them have experienced. So much feeling and so much suffering. The enormous emotion that overwhelms us listening to this song, happens because who wrote it and who sings it, puts in it all his soul and the memories of the TRUE feelings that have united them in a period of life. This is a huge gift that two people have given to those who listen to them
The more I listen to this song, the more I love and appreciate it...both the lyrics, the music and most of all, the raw, emotional singing by Agnetha...I cry each time..LOVE IT!
This is The Winner Takes It All part 2. Possibly it’s a prequel or could be exploring deeper into the lyrics of Winner Takes It All and the aftermath I feel this song is deeply connected to Winner Takes It All. And those harmonies. Sublime. Totally agree lights out volume up and let the sounds envelope your senses. Agnetha is flawless in her vocals and delivery. And Yes you can cry. I did. It’s beautiful.
A year later, I still feel like crying when I hear this song. Agnetha said in an interview that it's easier for her to put feelings into songs today. In the past, she always had to prepare for the role. And I hear it in her voice. I hear all the pain She is that woman! Wonderful.
This is one of my favorite songs on the album, about how relationships can go from good to bad, than blaming each other, then second guessing and the woman thinking "It's my fault" wondering how did we get to this point when I stll love you. I think it has a real country feel to it. I love it.
This song is both a tribute to the fantastic country singer Tammy Wynette, as well as one to Marie from Roxette who passed in 2019 with a little motif from their famous song "Listen to your heart" as one of the melodies of the chorus. So I reckon you're right about the country feel for sure!
@@Tom_McMurtry Awwww.. Marie and Roxette, my other favorite band. I miss her. I know she was good friends Frida, and songs like "Milk and toast and Honey" for me, has an ABBA feel.
@@Tom_McMurtry ..the song is a nod to her by naming the dog Tammy, it’s not a tribute to her and was never said to be Roxette doesn’t own those two notes. It’s a coincidence. They’re a small footnote in music at the most.
@@christine3043 a tribute to Roxette at least. Some Abba members were good friends with her. Roxette is another Swedish band afterall. It's not a coincidence. And Marie passed in 2019. That's not to say the whole song is not it's very own creative thing. It is and it is done beautifully. And listen to your heart makes sense within the wider themes of this song.
@@Tom_McMurtry I agree with you about the nod to Roxette - I also was reminded of Billy Joel’s Goodnight Saigon and the line ‘prayed to Jesus Christ with all of our might’ for example is the exact same tune as Agnetha singing ‘this is how all our fights have begun’ - I was intrigued as to where I heard it before until it came to me. Love to hear your thoughts on this.
Seriously...as a human being conditioned to feel love and sadness, I am completely moved to my inner core. The song has such an innocent sound which creeps up behind you and punches your senses. The voices are beyond amazing as always and the music perfectly blend with the lyrics being sung. These guys are genuine geniuses worthy of our adoration and respect. I am booked to see the London show on June 3rd and I am certain that all emotions will be stirred up, stripped down and elevated by ABBAs phenomenal power.
I think it is a song about alcoholism. "Is she drunk" / "how low I've sunk" / "sorry for the wasted years" / "I feel sick" / my hands are shaking" / "I've hit rock bottom". The husband cried about this situation and the hopelessness. But she comes in sober for the first time in a long time and he can't believe it. The dog senses that the situation is different now and that although she was never the sober woman the husband once loved she hopes "I can be that woman now". The most touching song and I cried a lot when I heard it.
OMG! What a powerful song! This reminds me of when Agnetha sang “ The Winner Takes It All” so much pain and emotion. Agnetha can sing with such emotion. You can feel the pain and regret in her voice! The string and Musik . Love it they are healing the people.
My thoughts always was: how is it possible, that Annafrid and Agnetha singing all the words always in the same way, like twins and with the perfect harmony....Benny writes beautyfull melodys, Björn beautyfull Lyrics...but all the songs are just complete and perfect with the perfect harmony and voices of the "girls". I loved all of the songs of ABBA, now I love 10 more...thank you ABBA...
Probably my favorite song of the album. Agneth'a's voice is so fragile nowadays and so filled with emotions, this brings me to tears every time I'm listening. The choruses with Frida blow my mind!! ABBA are back. Thank you so much for sharing your emotions (missing the tears though... ;-) ).
Greetings, Rob, from Australia Those voices are heavenly I feel lucky we have received a final album after such a long time, yes it's probably a goodbye, but never will they be forgotten. All the best to you,
The more I listen to this song, the more convinced I am that it is one of their best ever ballads. Vocally outstanding, musically perfectly balanced between clarity and beautiful orchestration. And, above all, the way the girls' voices complement each other. With enough exposure this ought to be a classic.
Beyond doubt a future classic which is 100% relateable and has ABBA written all over with the vocal alone...let alone anything else played on the song...if somebody told me this went in at no.1 in any chart, I would say...."are you surprised, Agnetha was, is and always will be vocally exceptional".
Giventoe...keep your eye on this song...it may just blow your mind. MESSIAH by Helena Softley.............................it is rising on you tube...peoople are getting to hear it now.
You have just the best reactions on those ABBA melodic moment chord changes. This song hits so deep, almost a lyrically confessional moment of “The Winner Takes It All”. Agnetha sings from the heart ❤️
Well done my friend! Agnetha can sing with such emotion. You can feel the pain and regret in her voice! I agree with your comment about pets and feeling our emotions. I have three dogs The occasion that we do have a silly fight…you can see it in their eyes!! Great song!!
@@GivenToe Greetings from Australia I do like your response to the songs, and, I feel we are lucky to receive one final album after such a long time. All the best to you ::
On first listening I wasn’t quite sure about this track. I gave it another go and then the lyrics and the strings hit me and it all fell into place. Like many ABBA tracks they grow on you. There is so much depth and emotion to this song and it’s becoming one of my favourites
I totally agree with you, it's an absolutely fantastic song. When I heard it for the first time yesterday, I was overwhelmed how good it is. The melody is so, so beautiful, Agnetha's voice gives me chills and the lyrics are so touching. It is one of my favourite songs on the album.
this song literally HURTS MY HEART. the pain and emotion in agnetha's voice is just as it was all those years ago. it hurts so good, if it weren't for agnetha's love for those kinds of painful love songs, i would be mad at bjorn for having her sing it 😭
Loving all your Abba reaction videos, you just have great warmth and charm and it comes across well in your videos. This is my favourite song on the album. Breathtaking and beautiful 🙂
The lyrics is about a strong woman who knows her shortcomings. I believe the song will be loved by grown-ups that have experienced life. The music has a country-touch to it. That fits perfectly with the sad and torn emotions expressed in the song. The sound reminds me of american country-singer Tammy Wynette.
@@amusethemasses3797 Thank you for this fact information. I read always the same sentences "Tammy Wynette story" published under different names on several channels without reference. Then it's a similar situation as by Fernando. Bjorn has written a fictional story inspired by Tammy's Biography. Friday night I readed so wierd stories in German about the background of this masterpiece, something what not many artists could do "write a popsong about a profound tonic". Once Merci and all the Best for you!!!
Indeed. Well said. Although she says her man wasn’t the man he should’ve been, she takes equal responsibility and acknowledges that she too wasn’t the woman she could’ve been. A very mature, sophisticated song.
First time I heard this song, not knowing the meaning of the words, tears are running ... so deep emotion this music with this voice. Thank you so much. Thank you Abba for the music you given it to me.
Ok this is the first time I've watched one of your videos. I am so glad you had the same reaction to this as I did! This album has to be the best I have heard in a very long time! Keep up the good work
Agnetha has recorded some great music between 1982 and 2021 but, just somehow, when she works with ABBA, she somehow makes it even more believable. Get Frida doing vocals on the same track and the magic is a given. Bjorn has actually already stated the lyrics influence. "It’s a country song, in essence. And a little gesture to the queen of country, as far as I’m concerned: Tammy Wynette. The good dog is called Tammy. There’s a lot of stuff going into that song, but it’s basically about someone who has come down from an addiction and finally come down into real life and is sorry about all the wasted years. But there’s hope at the end of the tunnel: I can be that woman now. Only we know what is fact and what is fiction about our life experiences together. It’s a kind of freedom that you get. With 70, you get that freedom". It reflects the union of Tammy who was hooked on prescription drugs and her husband George Jones who was an alcoholic.
It’s amazing how this single song captures the essence of Agnetha, the performer and singer, much better than any of the producers who produced her solo records. I loved A in 2013 but compared to this, you see that Jörgen Elofsson had no real idea what Agnetha is capable of. Benny, however, has been pressing all the right buttons with this song.
This one took me by surprise. Agnetha does a hauntingly beautiful job of what is essentially a song about domestic violence and a crippling relationship. Has grown more and more interesting and beautiful 😍 the more I listen! Understand your goosebumps; feel the same now. Once again, most likely based on true life experience, as in early ABBA days…once again, Agnetha sings about the breakdown of their relationship…using Bjorn’s lyrics..?
It’s not about domestic violence at all. Bjorn said it is about addiction. That’s what the lyrics say. There’s no domestic violence in the song at all.
It is an amazing song. Her voice is filled with so much feeling. Yes, like you I had goosebumps. Before you mentioned it, I had it on full volume and closed my eyes. Same reaction to the violin strings. Every song they have done has so much depth in the background. You hear something different years later in their music. FANTASTIC ALBUM, FANTASTIC TRACK.
Steve, greeting to you from Australia Such mature songs and the heavenly voices, artists today should take note, that after 40 years absent from the charts, Abba did it again, songs with meaning. All the best to you.
Your emotions and your explanation of this song❤️ you describe the emotios so perfectly and showing them… Right as I feel it in my heart, you understand it! You understand how great ABBA is and always will be. Thank you for sharing that!
A sad song with an uplift at the end. Great ABBA once again. I think this is the most diverse ABBA album. No 2 tracks can remotely be said to be similar.
The lyrics about "hitting rock bottom" and "or is she drunk?" suggest to me that the singer has been plagued by a drug/alcohol problem that has driven this couple apart over and over again. She's had a turning point and realised she needs help, and is hoping she can be a better human. If that's right then it's a really interesting change of voice for this to be sung from a woman's perspective. Very touching. (note: by singer I mean the character in the song - not the real singer!)
Thanks so much - was such a joy seeing your moment of first listening - my reaction was quite the same .... to me: the crown jewel of the album. The composition, vocals sooooooo fantastic and fresh (both! Frida is so important in this in the "background") , how the song grew, country feel , the ballad, even rock, still keeping it so calm...THE EMOTION....actually best of the modern love song I´ve heard for a long time. Five stars. Or hearts.
The entire song is very moving. The music and the lyrics combined give a strong effect on you while listening. I am not surprised by the fact that the new ABBA songs can be so tear-breaking sometimes especially after such a long break in their together music activity. And yes, I just adore the combination of Agnetha's lead- and Frida's back-vocals. How harmonically interwoven they are. I just adore it! Maybe I am biased towards them but I think they wouldn't write anything but such an awesome song.

Everyone analyzes or comments on the songs you react to, but I'm going to simply comment on your reactions. You were the first ABBA reaction I ever watched with "I Still Have Faith in You." Grew up with ABBA. Huge fan still, but this....OMG!! How did you not cry? Her voice. What can I say? Thank you ABBA! You're back!!!
Jean, my regards to you,
This album is one of the classics, deeply moving and heavenly voices, I think we were lucky to have a final album.
Keep strong and safe, regards to you, from Australia,,, Col
Man, now I know that Abba doesn't need years to build classics. It takes them a day, a week. Incredibly awesome.
Hej
Agnethas voice is impeccable amazing 🤩 such a deep and emotional song but with serious emotions and meanings 💕 I love this one it’s in my top 5 within Voyage
😁🙏🏻
Wow 🤩 great observation! Definitely a prequel to Winner!
Totally.
Or One of Us…..she walked out on him and now returns…..
No artist like Agnetha. Her voice tugs at our souls. Deeply moving. I completely understand your reaction.
@@graphiquejack I agree with you on that the whole album is phenomenal....both ladies have out done themselves on this final album for sure😊
This song really made me cry OMG Agnetha you beautiful lady. You have done it again. Boys Wow that was beautiful. All 4 of you THANKS.
Yes, truly, a powerful song,
All the best Marianne
Greetings from Australia.
@@colinberry1628 thanks Colin, from New Zealand
This is The Winner Takes It All part 2. Possibly it’s a prequel or could be exploring deeper into the lyrics of Winner Takes It All and the aftermath I feel this song is deeply connected to Winner Takes It All. And those harmonies. Sublime. Totally agree lights out volume up and let the sounds envelope your senses. Agnetha is flawless in her vocals and delivery. And Yes you can cry. I did. It’s beautiful.
What can I add? It's an incredible masterpiece in every way.
You'll cry on subsequent listens, I guarantee it... such a beautiful song.
A year later, I still feel like crying when I hear this song. Agnetha said in an interview that it's easier for her to put feelings into songs today. In the past, she always had to prepare for the role. And I hear it in her voice. I hear all the pain She is that woman! Wonderful.
Yes I think her life experience shines through here indeed ❤️
@@Tom_McMurtry ..the song is a nod to her by naming the dog Tammy, it’s not a tribute to her and was never said to be
Roxette doesn’t own those two notes.
TOTALLY IN LOVE with this song!!! Thank you ABBA for doing it again. We love you ABBA!!! ❤️
Uou are so very correct and you make sense 😊
I think it is a song about alcoholism. "Is she drunk" / "how low I've sunk" / "sorry for the wasted years" / "I feel sick" / my hands are shaking" / "I've hit rock bottom". The husband cried about this situation and the hopelessness. But she comes in sober for the first time in a long time and he can't believe it. The dog senses that the situation is different now and that although she was never the sober woman the husband once loved she hopes "I can be that woman now". The most touching song and I cried a lot when I heard it.
Bjorn said it’s about addiction so you are correct.
Spot on. ❤️
Thank you so much for sharing your emotions (missing the tears though... ;-) ).
Amazing emotional... what a song, what a voice....in there 70's!! Unbelievable.
Greetings, Rob, from Australia
Those voices are heavenly
I feel lucky we have received a final album after such a long time, yes it's probably a goodbye, but never will they be forgotten.
All the best to you,
The more I listen to this song, the more convinced I am that it is one of their best ever ballads. Vocally outstanding, musically perfectly balanced between clarity and beautiful orchestration. And, above all, the way the girls' voices complement each other. With enough exposure this ought to be a classic.
mmm So, beautiful. So nice of Bjorn to describe the dog as part of the family like that. Bravo!!
Added to suggestions list 🔥
@@GivenToe Thank you sir..you're a star...and an absolute lover of quality in song.
Thank YOU! 🙏🏻
A true legend who knows and is in full charge of her craft! Perfection personified
You have just the best reactions on those ABBA melodic moment chord changes. This song hits so deep, almost a lyrically confessional moment of “The Winner Takes It All”. Agnetha sings from the heart ❤️
You show how much you are feeling this song, it touches one’s heart!! ‘SUPERB ‘
Well done my friend! Agnetha can sing with such emotion. You can feel the pain and regret in her voice! I agree with your comment about pets and feeling our emotions. I have three dogs The occasion that we do have a silly fight…you can see it in their eyes!! Great song!!

I do like your response to the songs, and, I feel we are lucky to receive one final album after such a long time.
All the best to you ::
On first listening I wasn’t quite sure about this track. I gave it another go and then the lyrics and the strings hit me and it all fell into place. Like many ABBA tracks they grow on you. There is so much depth and emotion to this song and it’s becoming one of my favourites
My favorite song of the album Voyage.
Beautiful, emotional, so human...
Masterpiece of lyrics and melody united with great interpretion!
Thank you ABBA!
I totally agree with you, it's an absolutely fantastic song. When I heard it for the first time yesterday, I was overwhelmed how good it is. The melody is so, so beautiful, Agnetha's voice gives me chills and the lyrics are so touching. It is one of my favourite songs on the album.
The kind material Agnetha's vocal does better than anyone else!
this song literally HURTS MY HEART. the pain and emotion in agnetha's voice is just as it was all those years ago. it hurts so good, if it weren't for agnetha's love for those kinds of painful love songs, i would be mad at bjorn for having her sing it 😭
Yeah its really sad!
so great that no matter what- this music will survive and the joy it will bring shall last ages upon ages ...
Loving all your Abba reaction videos, you just have great warmth and charm and it comes across well in your videos. This is my favourite song on the album. Breathtaking and beautiful 🙂
Thanks Jez! :D
And she's over 70!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! eat your heart out beyonce, Rihanna etc etc etc etc
Beautiful song sung by Agnetha with passion, emotion and heart
The lyrics is about a strong woman who knows her shortcomings. I believe the song will be loved by grown-ups that have experienced life. The music has a country-touch to it. That fits perfectly with the sad and torn emotions expressed in the song. The sound reminds me of american country-singer Tammy Wynette.
It’s about the same old country singer .. Björn told that in an interview
Thank you Amuse! I should have realized that it was not a coincidence that the dog’s name is Tammy!
@@amusethemasses3797 Urs Geiser
Thank you Abba for the music you given it to me.
love the lyrics and Agnethas voice
Ok this is the first time I've watched one of your videos. I am so glad you had the same reaction to this as I did! This album has to be the best I have heard in a very long time! Keep up the good work
🙏🏻🙏🏻😁
Full emotion on this song! Great reaction!
🙏🏻😁
First listening I loved this song. Absolute brilliant.
@@christine3043 Right, the woman is addicted and now comes to sobriety, that's the meaning.
@@christine3043 agreed
It is an amazing song. Her voice is filled with so much feeling. Yes, like you I had goosebumps. Before you mentioned it, I had it on full volume and closed my eyes. Same reaction to the violin strings. Every song they have done has so much depth in the background. You hear something different years later in their music. FANTASTIC ALBUM, FANTASTIC TRACK.
Steve, greeting to you from Australia
Such mature songs and the heavenly voices, artists today should take note, that after 40 years absent from the charts, Abba did it again, songs with meaning.
All the best to you.
The Song 🎵 😍 ❤ it's a Story of Abba Life, it's Pure and Simple and Love ❤ 😍 you AbbA, Ever and Ever
this song is realy soooooo great. The voice, choros, instrumens ALL!!!
Your emotions and your explanation of this song❤️ you describe the emotios so perfectly and showing them… Right as I feel it in my heart, you understand it! You understand how great ABBA is and always will be. Thank you for sharing that!
Thank YOU aswell!
So beautiful this song is. It made me cry
It’s absolutely stunning
It sure is! 😁
I have heard it a few times And i felt the ache in my heart and i felt those tears in my eyes welling up. pfffff
😂😁🙏🏻❤️
A sad song with an uplift at the end. Great ABBA once again. I think this is the most diverse ABBA album. No 2 tracks can remotely be said to be similar.
I think the best song on the album can't stop listening
The lyrics about "hitting rock bottom" and "or is she drunk?" suggest to me that the singer has been plagued by a drug/alcohol problem that has driven this couple apart over and over again. She's had a turning point and realised she needs help, and is hoping she can be a better human. If that's right then it's a really interesting change of voice for this to be sung from a woman's perspective. Very touching. (note: by singer I mean the character in the song - not the real singer!)
I also sat back in my chair and just let the song take me.
Five stars. Or hearts.
😁😁🙏🏻
The entire song is very moving. The music and the lyrics combined give a strong effect on you while listening. I am not surprised by the fact that the new ABBA songs can be so tear-breaking sometimes especially after such a long break in their together music activity.
And yes, I just adore the combination of Agnetha's lead- and Frida's back-vocals. How harmonically interwoven they are.
I just adore it! Maybe I am biased towards them but I think they wouldn't write anything but such an awesome song.
Greetings from Australia, Karl
Yes their voices blend perfectly, and to the final album, which I feel lucky we have received.
A goodbye, yes, but Abba will never be forgotten.

@@colinberry1628 greetings from Russia, hehe
Yes, I fully agree. ABBA is a unique band and always been. The have already made a mark on the history, they won't be forgotten
Love your reaction, pure and simple emotions
I think only some female voices are able to transport the feeling in such an intense way like Agnetha and Frida does. I am more and more impressed and blown away as more I listen to that masterpiece. Can‘t wait watching your reaction to „ode to freedom“. Go on and take care! 👍
Everyone analyzes or comments on the songs you react to, but I'm going to simply comment on your reactions. You were the first ABBA reaction I ever watched with "I Still Have Faith in You." In fact, you were the first reaction video I ever watched. Yours is still the first channel I go to. Your reactions are so honest, and visceral. They complement the songs, in ways making them more enjoyable in that we as fans can share our love of ABBA. If there was a video award for reaction videos, you'd get my vote. Thanks for taking the time to share your feelings with us.
That really means a lot to me, thank you so much 🙏🏻❤️
At a loss for words but have an abundance of emotions.
What I love about this song is that no blame is laid on the man or the woman for a failed relationship, and that all loving strong relationships depend on both sexes.
It’s Agnetha’s “One Man One Woman”
This is a combo of Roxette & Dolly Parton song. Love it 😍
I cried.... so moving
