    I was watching jump Street podcast when they had Derek Henderson on. He explained that he doesn't jump really high, which left me confused. What I think he was trying to say is that you jump but you have to bring your legs up towards your core. After watching you skate I understand what he's talking about. It's very hard to explain and I hope you have a better understanding like I do. Thank you for putting up so much content it helps me with my skating to see another person struggle with their skating.

      @@fabianlopez-llort7641 yeah I understand that completely, I noticed that the most when I skate the really big coping box. Instead of sucking my knees up I end up jumping as high as I possibly can and basically locking in just like I would on the P rail lol making the whole trick way more dangerous because I'm so high up there when I should just be hopping and bringing my knees up to lock in
      Thank you for watching!! Some sessions are better than other but you guys get to see basically 100% of my attempts, I don't cut much out besides dead space

    I hope this comes across respectful, but absolutely nothing about your gear, or changing your gear is going to help here. Everything you own is absolutely brilliantly designed for all the things you are trying to do. I would recommend not changing a thing about your setup and just skate more and exercise more to get as loose and bendy and comfortable as possible. Let yourself get used to what you are using and let it wear-in naturally. Where you are falling here, it's because of your body positioning/lock on, not the skates or the grooves. Progress can be really slow, but switching your gear up in an effort to find an easier path is a trap and will ultimately only slow you down (opinion!). I love your commitment, you absolutely have this.

      haha everyone is different! I am not the type of person to stick with one setup, I prefer being able to swap things out and skate the same. The only thing I could not do well in these frames was royales and thats because my royales werent good yet. But keep watching :) or don't because theres alot more changes in the next couple weeks of videos haha I have sooo many hobbies and I've learned .... its actually BETTER to constantly change setups, some people can only do their tricks in one boot/frames setup and that will never be me. Some people took years to learn all the things ive learned, changing setups is a positive because it teaches you to adapt and actually learn the trick itself, instead of just learning how the trick is done on your own specific setup. I'd MUCH rather be able to grab any boot and do my tricks easily, than be the person you described, who struggles to do anything outside of their 1 comfort setup lol
      remember I skate every single day, and I've only been skating for under 7 months. Sticking to one setup would have held me back significantly. Maybe thats why so many people take so long to learn this stuff lol

      @@inlineonline To me it feels like learning to play basketball and changing the height of the rim everyday, but you do what works best for you. Good luck!

    • @inlineonline
      @inlineonline  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@myeline its more like playing basketball and changing your shoes! I played basketball my whole life, we used to also put down the hoop to 9 feet and have dunk contests in practice. Sometimes we played with a soccer ball so we could hit shots easily from half court lol
      in highschool we had scrimmages WITHOUT the ball, its called the invisible ball drill.
      seriously, locking yourself into one thing and never leaving your comfort zone is a REALLY bad habit in every single aspect of life in my opinion, and it sounds boring

    • @myeline
      @myeline หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@inlineonline I'm not sure how you've extracted "never leaving your comfort zone" from what I've said. Skating is infinite in its range so there's no risk of that - you can do anything at all and you don't need any specific gear to do it. All aggressive skates these days are great for that.
      I was only sharing my opinion that, considering you're having challenges unlocking certain tricks, that keeping consistency in your equipment will allow you to focus on what you body is doing. A bit like learning to shoot the basketball, you focus on every bit of your shot form in the right ways and you'll hit more shots.
      Once you are confident on tricks (mind and body), it's pretty simple to do them in all sorts of gear. But i get that people like experimenting with stuff, so good luck!

    • @inlineonline
      @inlineonline  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I've just experienced the opposite sometimes using new equipment has unlocked tricks for me. Just wait till you see the next couple videos lol I got razor SLs and now I can Royale almost every time.
      If you stick with the same setup constantly that is absolutely your comfort zone there is no way around it. You can pretend that it's not your comfort zone but that's literally the definition of being in your comfort zone It's something you're comfortable with and more familiar with so you don't have to adapt as much. There's people who take years to learn what I've learned already I've struggled to find anyone making progress quicker than me, so with all due respect I disagree with everything you're saying. And I would not be where I am today in 6 months if I had your mentality
      For example my comfort zone is my PVC coping boxes. Skating angle iron and street is out of my comfort zone. But I had a pretty good street session the other day and I can do most my tricks on angle iron, so I'm able to adapt out of my comfort zone. Feel like a lot of people in this sport have very bad learning processes and that's why it takes them so long to learn stuff. I've seen some shockingly terrible tutorials. I follow some people who didn't learn topsides for years. That won't be me I'm sorry lol

    your unity's - you don't turn your body into the grind, you only turn your legs... if you commit to being face on to the ledge you'll get lower and lock in better 👍

    That looked like a tough session! I skate THEM 909's with the street frame in the 58mm flat setup. I have terrible front foot placement on my soul grinds and get serious wheel bite on everything but the PVC rail, but I so much prefer skating at the park with the flat setup that I'll just have to work harder on my foot placement. Great job on that session!

    • @inlineonline
      @inlineonline  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      yeah these frames are a tough one to be honest, theres some flat frames out there with much better wheelbite protection, I would be wheel biting so much trying to skate this frame flat haha
      I know flat feels so much better, but maybe you should try a flat frame with wheelbite protection like the FR Oysi frames or the Kaltik V1s. No shame in making things a little easier on yourself, the 909's with the them street frames in flat is a pretty advanced setup lol even some of the best skaters on the planet wouldn't subject themselves to that! I bet you'd have a bunch of grinds already in antirocker

    • @theaverageoldguy
      @theaverageoldguy หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@inlineonline I did put some anti-rocker wheels on them for a session at my local park and the grinds I did in Mooresville. Its MUCH better grinding, but way worse skating, and I choose the skating over the grinds. I am looking at some different frames. The Oysi look awesome, but are so dang expensive. I was looking at the Kizer Fluid V's and I'll look at those Kaltik's well, thanks!

    • @inlineonline
      @inlineonline  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@theaverageoldguy yeah the anti rocker skating experience is not the best lol I'm not a great skater in general so I just deal with it. Seems like you're better and more natural on transition so it makes sense you want flat, that wheel bite is a real issue sometimes though haha the fluid Vs and Kaltiks V1s are pretty cheap, I know I got my kaltiks on rollerwarehouse for 25 bucks with the "freeship" code, You'll see right away how much wheel bite protection those have... although that brings in another issue, which is scraping the frames on the ground sometimes. Hopefully you find the perfect setup for you soon! I'm always trying something new

    I'm not sure what it is about the Them frames but I always go back them, even though I have a bunch of more expensive ones. Just something about the combination of rigidity and nice thumps sound. Also the the shallow groove is nicer for ledges and curbs which is mostly what I practice on. Others said it, but you need to turn your shoulders more towards the obstacle to lock those unitys. Your legs follow your shoulders.

    • @inlineonline
      @inlineonline  หลายเดือนก่อน

      yeah I gotta give them a shot again on my new setup, the rigidity and thump was also my favorite part, I never felt so solid landing tricks. The groove is a bit less forgiving that the creates but I'm sure with more real ledge skating it would be fine

      haha no its actually a tiny terrible skatepark with 2 ramps but directly next to the park is this really smoother area they use for an ice skating rink, and when I checked out the park the really big coping box was there... so I left my coping box and p rail there as well haha now its slightly better than terrible haha
