Suspirium means to breathe deeply or sigh in Latin. Very interesting that we can hear the raspy breathing in the beginning of Susie's mother laying in her death bed.

Okay yes so it IS Susie, right? I absolutely never noticed until a few minutes ago when I watched this here. So she WAS there when her mother died, and it gives a whole other weigth to her mother's last words. One of the most beautiful yet disturbing opening sequences.

Both the Original and the Remake are fantastic movies. The Remake is great especially because it takes the basics of the original and does it’s own thing with them. This opening scene is a key example, it’s moody, depressing and bleak, with absolutely phenomenal music by Thom Yorke. The colour palette in Suspiria 2018 is decidedly drab, throughout the whole movie, but especially here. Never thought I’d say Suspiria and drab colour palette in the same sentence, but here we are. The point is, it works. It’s lovingly crafted and does pay homage to the original whilst doing its own thing. To my knowledge Dario does not like this film, which I can understand, but personally I think it’s a great film of it’s own. I do prefer the original, as a die hard Dario Argento and Goblin fan, but, there’s plenty to love here too.
Though personally, you know how many times we see remakes like this that are either carbon copies with little to stand out on it's own terms or potentially not even doing the material well, then you have this being one of the few times there is a vision and it isn't just trying to superimpose the same ideas and kills in a blander setting? I'd actually be pretty flattered that someone actually put effort to remaking it than just trying to go for the cheap modern dollar approach, personally.

Let's not kid ourselves now. The original suspiria was a beautiful vivid moving painting. Nothing more nothing less. As a film it's one of the worst to exist. No coherent plot or narrative. The remake is better by miles. This comment proves you've never seen it.
@@JesusGomez-ob2qt Love how you describe the original, very true! It is indeed a beautiful painting with interesting ideas, but It was kind of a hassle to go through. You can really feel in the remake how much the director loved the original, though. The remake doesn't feel forced like some bad remakes/covers (ie jacob's ladder's terrible remake shoehorning a few iconic shots from the original in such a clumsy way it felt like they just wanted to be able to put the title on a movie with little connexion to the og). I like suspiria (2018) better because it has a very distinctive mood and visual identity of its own, while being more coherent and interesting in its structure. One of the most underrated movies to come out of the last decade, totally unique vibe, the haunting music is so fitting too.

Sospirium means light breath shut up you stupid bitch
Sospiro non significa respirare profondamente rimbambita significa respirare lievemente
The prologue is a masterpiece of visual storytelling.
This was honestly one of the saddest horror movies I’ve ever seen

Such a powerful credits sequence. On my first watch I didn't even notice Susie is present at the farm house.

Thom York created moviehistory here; such an amazing track.
this opening credits lives forever in my head especially the atmosphere of the country side. i just find it so beautiful 😆♥️
Thom yorke what a lad
I love that song
That quote in photoframe shown at first scene may be the plot of the whole story🙄
Juxtaposition. Mother Markos. Her dying mother. Yes weird
Took me 3 watches to even notice the titel on the train station sign.
I spotted it straight away! I was wondering about that subtle self-reverential touch.
Such a rich and palpable scene. Stunning.
