    I like how you're justing talking to us instead of shouting one-liners constantly. These vlogs are the beans!

    This must be the first kite review I've seen that is actually entertaining and interesting at the same time. Easy to watch 👍

    I don’t ride slingshot kites (yet) but this is head and shoulders above any other kite vlog in terms of in genuinely helpful insight into how Pro riders set-up but also the effect of the settings in general. You aced it. Good on ya mate. Tom Court...there’s some big competition in town my friend

      Thanks for the feedback mate! This video was a challenge as there was so much I wanted to talk about, appreciate the feedback, fired up to keep improving and making content! :)

      Yeah, @@SamLight this is quite good! I never expect team riders to give totally unbiased information but I appreciate spending some time on the technical aspects of it and not just showing that pros can do big loops on it (we all know that already).

    Awesome vlog! Keep up the good work! Nice with a genuine review and talk about setup and differences, instead of the usual marketing reviews!

    I like how you take longer shots instead of jump cut after jump cut: a kite vlog shouldn't be shot like the next John Wick. I'm not a big fan of kite reviews because it's generally just "this years kite is better than last years in every regard" which is in my opinion a testament to both the good work the kite designers have done but also to the marketing people's voodoo magic. Spicing it up with some insight into what you ride (e.g. the trend of using the 9m in pro big air) and how you set it up was a good decision. Good work Sam! The drone footage of the town, was awesome as well!

    Great vlog Sam.I have been using RPMs since 2012. I have felt the ‘ grunt’ had gone over the last couple of years which I liked. Sounds like it’s come back and I like the sound of being able to boost more. A bit of a coincidence as I have been getting into jumping more due to a annual big air comp just down the road here in Poole. I was looking at other kites for boosting and also curious if the smaller turbine kites were going to be the boosting kite for slingshot after seeing your video in Cape Town on one. Looking forward to demo one

    Nice review! Do you use the same settings as you explained, on last year model as well? or does it only apply for the 2019 model? Big thumbs up for the insight on you're preferences👍👍

    Raptor vs rpm (2020) for big air, megaloop, hangtime? Are there big difference or they are similar?

    Very informative video. Skills. Is holding down a 9m in south Africa in winds gusting over 30 knots different to over here on the south coast of blighty....?

    Hey Sam,
    I remember you used to ride the Fuel. Did you switch over to the Rpm for good? If so why?

    • @SamLight
      @SamLight  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hey Adam, I still use the Fuel sometimes when the conditions are perfect, but the RPM is way more versatile so I end up using it most of the time, every year I use the RPM more and more

    Really liked my 2015 7m . Glad to see the pulleys are back. Didnt like the windrange and hangtime of the later models so stopped riding them. Guess this will reingnite some interest in the rpm. love the bar, hated the trim below the bar. and the new dacron on the edge is much needed. rpm is so interesting for design. hope to fly it some day soon again.
    Come to think of it: I meant the 2005 rpm.... getting old huhh.

    Hi Sam: we just got our new rpm’s. We can’t wait to try them heading to the DR soon. We were looking at the instructions and it indicated that kite should only be pumped to 6lbs for warm weather and 8lbs for colder weather. Is it ok to pump these kites to 10lbs and not damage them prematurely? We love the Vids!!!!

    If the Rally is also a freeride kite, witch one would you recomend for big air, i´ve been ridding for about a year and a half, and i want to upgrade mi gear and i am between those two.

    Are all the sizes similar. Like would a 12 be good for big air as well as a 9?

    • @SamLight
      @SamLight  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes they are very similar, but I don't normally go for 'big air' on kites bigger than a 10. It's much harder to jump high on a big kite as they are slower and the weight of the extra fabric decrease's the efficiency. I go for handlepasses when I am on my 12, I like to mix it up and keep it fresh.

  • @vincaslapinskas8425
    @vincaslapinskas8425 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    So if RPM is turning more to freeride, big air kite then why slingshot has Rally. So basically why slingshot has now two freeride kites?

    • @SamLight
      @SamLight  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The Rally is a delta kite, its a different type of kite which has very different flying attributes. It's a bit like how Audi have an RS5 and an R8, they are two fast cars :)

    • @Creepyseven
      @Creepyseven 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I own both and the Rally rides upwind a lot better and has a way better low end. A lot of people say the rally has more hang time but I find the difference marginal compared to the other characteristics. The RPM loops a lot better. Handle passes are a lot easier. It is way more stable in high winds. When it's gusty I can still take my 10m RPM where I would be out on an 8m Rally otherwise. If I want to boost as high as I personally can I take the RPM because I find it way more manageable in storm gusts, (I can take a bigger kite and will still be able to edge more consistently) if I want to jump a lot and it's clean consistent winds I take the Rally because I get upwind a whole lot faster. I don't do a lot of unhooking but the Rally never worked for me at all in this regard.

  • @WillSmalls
    @WillSmalls 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Do you really prefer the RPM for loops? I still find the fuel way better for loops.

    • @SamLight
      @SamLight  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I prefer the 9m RPM to the 9m Fuel because its got a much better high end wind range and loops easier so I can get way more amplitude, you can't beat the feeling of looping the Fuel though, especially on the 7m but I find its rarely windy enough for me on the 7m

      Not really if you think about it. We (slingshot rally and rpm riders)want to know about the differences and Sams impressions. Kite reviews by one time riders are kinda like first date impressions - who gives a shit when you are looking for a bride?
