    I really like this format of comparing kites by the same manufacturer. It's very helpful to people who like a particular manufacturer. I also like when you compare similar kites across multiple manufacturers. Keep up the great videos!

      Thanks Jay! It's been fun getting to talk about all this gear. It's kind of like bro-ing down on the beach except I'm doing it in front of a camera. -Rygo

    Spot on review! I started on RPMs and have an RPM quiver. I just picked up 7m Rally and enjoy that it isn't as twitchy as the RPM. The Rally is much better going up wind and seems to handle holes in the wind better. I really struggled figuring out the timing on the RPM for jumps and finally just figured it out. The Rally is much easier to jump and I actually had to relearn jumping because I wasn't ready for the air I got on the Rally. I like ripping a quick turn on a wave better with the RPM. I love the 12m RPM for lighter wind because it turns much quicker.

      I have that problem right now with the rpm can barely get over 6-7 meters in jumps. What did you do to fix the timing? Tried looking on forum but say very different things. Make a vid on it rygo😉

    My son rides a 7m RPM in the surf with 20-30kn (ish) winds and surfs waves with a good quota of moves. He gives it two thumbs up. I have been wave riding with a 9m Rally in 18-25kn (ish) winds and have enjoyed the way it performs in the surf. Recently a friend sent a used 9m Drifter over to me to use while the Rally had some repair work done due to an altercation with a set wave. Needless to say, the Drifter has now become the "go to" for surf riding. The Drifter seems to have an overall more even feel and dare I say drifts more easily. None the less the Rally is a great option for someone that is not fully surf obsessed.

    Great video, love the gradient line from beginner to hardcore/performance. Maybe you could compare some Hybrid C kites, like the Dice, C4, RPM, FX in a similar manner?
    This would be informative because you would be comparing in a user segment, instead of within a brand. Nice work!

    Good vid. I find the Rally is better for relaunching if the wind is a little sketchy.

    Now I have got rpm 12. Firstly i feel it is not for me. I had problems with simply jumps, uh but after 5-6 sessions... It is super allaround kite. ;)

    Hi, how does the rpm behaves on a hydrofoil ? I am envisaging a rpm 2012 9m , in complement of a foilkite for carving, loops and waves. Thanks

    Great review, Rygo. RPM has always been that kite I wanted to try badly... never really felt like I was "up to" or good enough to fly an RPM. I can boost ok and do backrolls... been kiting for about 5 years so I'm probably intermediate I'd guess. But always thought RPM's were for the 'pros. Also always heard the RPM rode really "small"... IE-lacked lowend. anyhow, thanks for the reviews. Keep em coming.

    • @MACkiteboarding
      @MACkiteboarding  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, I'm glad you found it helpful. It's true the RPM doesn't have the same low-end as a lot of other kites but you should definitely give it a try! - Rygo

    • @jedaiahkramer1204
      @jedaiahkramer1204 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have the control needed for boost & backrolls, you can fly an RPM with no problems. I learned how to kite on a 6m RPM in the snow ... via lots of youtube videos. I prepared for the worst with multiple safety release options, but learning on the RPM was actually great. I went up to a 12m F-one bandit for water, but still use my 6m RPM on high-wind snow days.

      thanks K. appreciate the comments. I actually need something in the 8-9m range and RPM's are on my list. I've heard they are good stable kite in higher winds.

    great vid any advice on the best knot settings for the rally I noticed today I put my steer lines on the top knot and it was a lot more responsive but ive always used and thought the bottom knot was the one to use so yeah im a lil confused. ive been riding 5 years.

    • @MACkiteboarding
      @MACkiteboarding  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi James, "Best knot" can be subjective to the rider. For Slingshot kites, I prefer the outermost knot personally. If I need a little extra power, I'll use the second knot. I rarely use the closest knot to the kite.
      My preference for these changes from brand to brand as well. For example, on Cabrinha kites, the middle knot is the standard and I prefer that.
      I'd recommend doing some experimenting and finding what you enjoy the most! Slingshot has a lot of configurations.
      I hope that helps!

    Hey Rygo. I've been riding since 2002. I primarily ride surf conditions a lot of the time with down winders. I like the big time boosting, but am curious as to how the Rally does in the kite loop category.
    For background, I'm a busy guy with a very time demanding job. Don't get to ride as much as I did 5-7 years ago. Still my favorite kite of all time is my old 2008 Rev 7m. Any comparison/recs for newer kites with similar feel/performance?

    • @MACkiteboarding
      @MACkiteboarding  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Adam, great question. I had to consult some co-workers to get some perspective on the Rev as I've never used one. The Rally is the right choice for sure if you like to boost and it's a great surf kite. As for loops, it tends to have a powerful loop. Typical the kite has a wider arching loop but unlike other kites in the same category, if you pull hard enough on a Rally, you can get a more "pivotal loop" out off it. It will be the closest choice to the Rev but you might consider sizing down to match the Rev's power in the same wind range. - Rygo

    • @davestybay
      @davestybay 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Adam, most of kiting is in the surf. I used a 9m Rally for a few years and found it very easy to downloop when I was changing direction in the surf. I tend not to backloop my kites but if the wind drops I'll combine backloops with downloops to make distance. I can't really comment on how the Rally performs with boosting loops but the Rally has been pretty user friendly when I have needed to loop it.

    Same kite model could do different in different sizes, should be covered in versus videos as well. Do we comparing 10m rally with 10m rpm? What about 12m then, could be a different story, right? Also some models shine more in some particular size, when for other sizes it's better to opt for another kite. Am I wrong?

    • @MACkiteboarding
      @MACkiteboarding  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great call, that would be a good point to incorporate. Some models vary greatly in the different size ranges. I've added this to my list of video ideas. Thanks for the great feedback Pavel. - Rygo

    I am buying a kite for my girl she is 112 lbs and has no kiting experience outside a trainer kite. I am considering the RPM 10 after your video. I have never had the opportunity to ride the RPM and always wanted too try one myself. Am I crazy for considering this. The wind here is often 11-16 mph. She has decent wake / snowboarding skill.

    • @MACkiteboarding
      @MACkiteboarding  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dirk Diggler You're not crazy. She would have an easier time with the Rally for sure. That said, the RPM will work fine. It's still a very friendly kite. I've used it in lessons before. - Rygo

    Seems the UK has very little support on the slingshot RPM. I would stay away. I had a bridal fall off on a brand new 2020 model and they are telling me to get one made custom. Even basic parts seem only available in the US. The new bridal system can not be sourced on this or the 2020. Maybe it’s just me but they don’t seem to support their gear post sale

      @Ryan Goloversic US team were awesome even pointed me to other European contacts, checked stock levels etc. UK just sent me away, it was too much work for them to even check an SKU 😂 or honour any form of warranty discussion

    he didn't mention the biggest differences ... the rally is much easier to water relauch, has about 15% more low end power and has more of a pivot turn.

  • @utrabbit007
    @utrabbit007 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    RPM is not good for boosting high, it send you up a little bit (if you time it perfectly). But then there is no hangtime, the RPM just slams you down hard. I used RPMs for 3 years. Great kite but not for jumping big. The RPM also has less pull than other kites. If you use a 10m Rally it is the same pull as a 12m RPM.

    • @MACkiteboarding
      @MACkiteboarding  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      F''''off thanks for the comment. The rpm is similar to most kites in the freestyle crossover category. They tend to have an aggressive pop and less hang time than their freeride counterparts like the rally or Switchblade. That's for sure the most common tradeoff for a kite that unhooked well. Cheers - Rygo

    Great again Rygo! Thanks! Just had an idea for another VS. After the 2018 king of the Air, would be interesting to see something about the Naish Pivot (and its peers) against the Chaos/Vegas (again and peers), maybe focused on jumping or big air.
    Once again thanks for the great content!
